display item tabs when creating new item record
When creating a new item in the physical item editor, the item tab "notes" should display immediately. Currently, when creating an item you must save the item first before the tabs will display and then go back into the item record to add any item notes.

At the moment it is only possible to access the NOTEs tab for an item once it has been saved. This adds an extra step to the cataloguing workflow. Can we have access to this tab at the creation / adding new item stage?

We have only been using Alma for a few months, and there are many places where we seem to need to go back and forth. I was glad to see that this is at least being discussed. While a Save and Continue would be an improvement, I am not sure how adding those tabs makes the screen more 'complex'. It could be on a 'tab' like the 'General Information', closed unless/until needed.

18 months after designating this idea as planned, it has still not been implemented. I had hoped to see it in the new release, but it is not there :(

A "save and continue" option will cut out at least 3 steps for me for each item created: search, action, edit. Moreover, being able to complete the edits at the time of creation will save me trying to remember that I have to bring it back up again throughout the process of decoupling from the holdings record and the bibliographic record in the ME. Thank you, Dana. :-)

I agree with the others -- "Save and Continue" is only a marginal improvement.

While a "Save and Continue" button would be better than what is available now, it is only a step in the right direction.
If all of the tabs are not available during item creation, what about including an expandable area that only appears on the item creation screen (e.g. Location Information and Additional Information) that would allow us to populate the notes and additional enumeration/chronology information. -

Is there a technical reason that all the tabs cannot display when the item is created?
Clicking "save and continue" in order to get the tab adds yet another button and another click that add up to so many in a day. It is so much more than annoying.

Thank you for your idea.
We aim to keep the item creation form simple with the most frequent attributes available in the form.
We agree that it can be annoying to re open and navigate back to the item resource editor in order to add additional information to the item therefor in order to keep the form simple and improve the navigation experience our planned solution is to add an option to save and continue directly to the item resource editor for further editing. -

It is extra work, especially when every item you create needs one or more notes added. This is also true of accessing the other tab for enumeration and chronological information. So time consuming if your items have more than two levels of enumeration or chronology.
