1. Ability to reduce limit for number of links in "View It"

   Ability to reduce the limit for full text links in "View It"

   At present, the limit for links in "View It" is set to 25, see: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Knowledge_Articles/View_It_is_limited_for_25_resources
   However, it is not possible to reduce the number and lower the limit (as it was possible in the SFX environment).

   We would like the ability reduce the limit for links in the "View It" section of a Primo record.

2. Remove Pickup location entry from digitization entry in my requests

   When digitization requests are in process, a pickup location is displayed. This doesn't make sense for something that is a digitization or document delivery request, since there is nothing to "pickup". I realize this is a holdover from the photocopy days, but perhaps it might make more sense if patrons had the option to request physical delivery for a digitization request ("request physical copy") and ask them to designate a pickup location rather than having users assign a pickup location for all digital requests.

3. Primo VE - make frbr work with Esploro / research data data as well

   Surprisingly, in Primo VE FRBR feature does not apply to Esploro research data records blended with Alma records.
   It should instead work also with Esploro / Research Data.

4. Language field in Brief Record Display ought to use the Language codes Labels (VE)

   For institutions with multi-lingual collections, the out-of-the-box Language field can be a useful addition to the record display. When Language is added to the Full Record display, the "Language codes Labels" code table is used to convert the abbreviated codes used in metadata records into generally understood language names–e.g. the code 'gle' displays as 'Irish'.

   When the Language field is added to the Brief Record display, however, the labels are NOT used and the code is displayed as-is. Ex Libris recognizes this as a defect (case #06659538) but a solution is not part of the current development work plan. We are dismayed, as we hoped to add this field to our brief record display to remedy student difficulties demonstrated during usability interviews. The Language field is included in our Full Record display, but it is less visible there than it would be in the Brief Record.

   Scenarios where having the language label in the Brief display would be helpful for users:

   1. Students can have trouble distinguishing which titles are foreign language material because the metadata is primarily or solely in English. This sort of confusion can lead to item requests for material that a student cannot read and thus cannot use, which wastes the time of the student during their research, wastes the time of library staff who processed the request, and sometimes costs the library money for postage/fees incurred to process the request. For online resources, this confusion leads to inflated usage statistics that can be misleading for calculating cost per use and making renewal decisions. Image: eng metadata jpn contents

   2. Titles can be in a different language than the contents of the text while the record metadata is in a third language. Numerous older titles, for example, are in Latin, which can be misleading about the linguistic nature of their contents. This confusion has similar impacts as described in the first scenario.    3. The Language facet is not sufficient to distinguish the primary language of the material from the presence of supplemental text in that language, like subtitles on a film. Patrons who are seeking resources in specific languages can be frustrated by this. For example, the film Parasite remains in search results after the English language filter is applied, even though the dialogue is in Korean and French while English is only present as subtitles.    Since the code is displayed in the Brief Record, we cannot add it for our users–it would cause more confusion than it would resolve. The out-of-the-box Language field needs to be fixed so the "Language codes Labels" code table is invoked for the Brief Record, as it is for the Full Record.

5. Display Licenses for Results from CDI if holdings are associated with a license

   For Primo VE search results, display the license for results obtained from the CDI. Primo already displays the license terms of results obtained from Alma holdings. License terms are displayed next to a Primo VE result that is from an institution’s Alma holding if the Alma holding has a license assigned to it (shown in the Electronic Collection Editor’s General tab in Alma), but the license is not currently displayed when Primo VE search results are obtained from the CDI for the same holding (that does have a license assigned to it.). This would benefit ILL staff who rely on license terms displayed in Primo to know if they can lend items.

   For Primo VE search results, display the license for results obtained from the CDI. Primo already displays the license terms of results obtained from Alma holdings. 6. Quotation marks: align the behavior of Alma and CDI records

   When using quotation marks in a search, Alma and CDI records behave differently:

   CDI records:
   « » → not considered for the search
   „ “ → considered for the search only for some languages
   “ ” → considered for the search only for some languages
   " " → considered for the search

   For local records:
   « » → not considered for the search
   „ “ → not considered for the search
   “ ” → not considered for the search
   " " → considered for the search

   With this idea exchange we propose to align the behavior of Alma and CDI records towards the different quotation marks.
   This should uniform and make more coherent the search results obtained by patron users.

7. Add the option to sort results in Collection by newest acquisitions

   We would like to be able to sort results in a Collection in Primo VE by newest acquisitions at the top. So perhaps sorting by date created of the record in Alma.

   This way we could make collections that display the newest purchases in our library at the top.

8. Pipe setting improvement: allow to exclude specific OAI sets from a pipe

   We would like to have the possibility to exclude one or more specific sets when we harvest the data with OAI-PMH protocol in Primo.
   This option would have 2 results:
   - to reduce the number of imported records
   - we wouldn't have to set specific normalization rules in order to exclude the records we don't want to show in Primo

9. Display View It sort order by portfolio with highest number of access first

   There doesn't seem to be a way to make the display of portfolios in the View It sort by portfolio with the most number of access first.

   We have some titles that have multiple portfolios - some have 3 user access, unlimited, and single access. It would be easier for end-users to view/click on the portfolio with the most number of access first - this would reduce user frustrations with being turned away.

10. Resource type filter bar: after a search, terms with no hits should be inactive or a counter should be visible

    The resource type filter bar under the search field will remind patrons of Google. Which is good, because they know how that works.

    But: there is no indication in Primo VE that the filters are also visible and clickable if there are no hits behind them.

    Please either add a counter (which would be consistent with the facets in the side column), or deactivate the terms that don't have hits, so that they are not clickable.

    Clicking on something and landing on an empty page is frustrating.

11. Display both active (payable) AND accruing fines/fees at Fine+fees tab of a user’s account

    Fines+fees tab of a user’s account does not show the balance of the accruing fines. Fines+fees tab doesn’t include the information of the loans that have accruing fines on them, and this confuses clients. They should be able to see this information easily and understand the difference between active and accruing fines.

    We propose that Fine+fees tab of a user’s account should display the total amount of active and accruing balance; the active (payable) balance with the Pay button beside it and the accruing balance. We also wish that the fine type of the loans that have accruing fines would be "Accruing". To illustrate the difference between these two, the following text could be shown on the tab: "Active balance is the sum that you can pay immediately; accruing balance can be paid only after you have either renewed or returned the loans in question. Current fines balance is the sum of active and accruing balance."

    We also wish that the previous specification of balance (total-active-accruing) would be visible on the Overview tab along with the current "Pay fine" button.

13. Allow suppression of GES based on Primo View

    Currently a GES (General Electronic Service) link can be suppressed or shown based on certain characteristics of the record or though Alma Display Logic Rule, through characteristics of the logged in user or presence / absence of other GES links. We would like the ability to control the display of GES links based on the current Primo view. This would allow us to show or suppress links in certain Primo views before asking the user to login.

14. Have the sort order for libraries affect the pickup location order in Primo

    There is currently a library sort order in Discovery for Primo VE. Our wish was to have the main campus appear first and then the branches. However we discovered that while we have options to try sorting by IP or by a custom order, this configuration does not apply to the request screen - pickup location order. We confirmed this with a ticket, and develop noted that only the alphabetical order applies to this area. We believe, it would be helpful to allow libraries with multiple libraries to put the main library at the top as that is the one that most users will select anyway.

15. Include authentication in QR Code link for favourites

    On Primo VE you can generate a QR Code for the page you are viewing.

    If the page is a search the QR Code link works, once scanned the search is replicated.
    If the page is from your account, LibraryCare, My Loans, My Requests, when the code is scanned it invokes authentication.

    However, for Favourites, when the code is scanned it shows a "blank" screen if the user isn't already authenticated on the scanning device.

    I would like to propose that the link generated for Favourites invokes authentication in the same way as pages for Loans, Requests etc,

17. Preference of links from link resolver over link in record in brief results for merged records

    When one or more of the records in a merged group is coming from a collection using the link resolver, and other records are coming from collections using the link in the record, the link in record type of link is always displayed in the brief result list. It should be possible to choose to always display a link resolver type of link instead.

18. Ability to copy and paste the results from a browse search

    As a librarian, I would like to be able to copy and paste the results from a browse search into Wordpad or Word so that I could then use those results to create a list of hyperlinked subject headings for a library guide. It appears as though this inability to copy and paste applies to all of the “Browse” options (see attached).

19. Que Primo tenga en cuenta todos los tipos de comillas posibles

    Actualmente sólo el carácter UTF-8 22 (UNICODE 0022) se considera como comilla en las búsquedas Primo. Se trata del carácter ", accesible mediante Mayúsculas-2 en la mayoría de los teclados.
    Pero otros dispositivos y telcados utilizan otros tipos de caracteres, que Primo no tiene en consideración a la hora de ejecutar las búsquedas, y así, cuando se introduce una búsqueda entre comillas, los resultados varían según el dispositivo que utilice cada usuario, porque si Primo no detecta que esos caracteres son comillas, combina las palabras de búsqueda con el operador OR.
    Entendemos que es necesario que Primo tenga en cuenta todos los tipos posibles de comillas para facilitar a los usuarios que obtengan los resultados que están buscando, y no otros, cuando lanzan su búsqueda entre comillas, sea cual sea el teclado que utilicen.

    Actualmente sólo el carácter UTF-8 22 (UNICODE 0022) se considera como comilla en las búsquedas Primo. Se trata del carácter ", accesible mediante Mayúsculas-2 en la mayoría de los teclados.
    Pero otros dispositivos y telcados utilizan otros tipos de caracteres, que Primo no tiene en consideración a la hora de ejecutar las búsquedas, y así, cuando se introduce una búsqueda entre comillas, los resultados varían según el dispositivo que utilice cada usuario, porque si Primo no detecta que esos caracteres son comillas, combina las palabras de búsqueda con el operador OR.

20. Add document delivery transactions to Requests tab in 'My Account'

    Current digitization (document delivery/digitization) requests are shown when requests are in process. I would like docdel and digitization requests to be available in the Requests tab until they are expired.

    Ideally, a download button would be available while the document is available ( before the doc expires or max views has been exceeded) and the number of remaining views is displayed (see image).
