  1. Add a button to "Add Holdings" in the List of Holdings screen.

    Currently, in order to add another holdings record, we have to be actively editing either the bibliographic record or another holdings record. It would be simpler if, in the List of Holdings screen, there were a button for "Add Holdings" similar to the "Add Item" button in the List of Items screen. That would eliminate having to go back and release the record we may have opened solely for the purpose of adding a holdings record.

  2. More PO line options for Create Purchase Request

    Purchase Requests functionality is great idea (ACQUISITIONS --> Purchase Requests); unfortunately, the usefulness of this new feature is limited because it appears that it can only be used with certain PO Line Types (Print Book - One Time, Electronic Book - One Time; Print Journal - Subscription; Electronic Journal - Subscription). We cannot use the purchase requests workflow for physical media, for example, because there is no option for a requester to choose a "Citation type" that would map to a PO Line Type of Visual Material.   3. Create a Tableau Web Data Connector for Alma Analytics

    Alma Analytics users who also use Tableau would benefit from a generic Tableau Web Data Connector (WDC) available via the Alma Integrations page to integrate Alma Analytics into Tableau vizes via the Ex Libris API.

    The WDC could generate report-specific field structure based on the schema/xsd section of the API report XML, making the addition of Alma Analytics report data to Tableau as easy opening an Excel spreadsheet.

  4. Add an "automatically print slip" toggle to the Resource Sharing Receiving Items page

    For campuses that have a library that is also a Resource Sharing library, we could use a toggle switch to automatically print hold shelf slips when we receive items. Because Resource Sharing libraries do not require an extra scan at "scan in items", this would help speed up our workflow.

  5. Send a confirmation by e-mail for each resource sharing request

    When the user fill in the form to receive a book by the Inter-Library Loan (ILL), it would be nice if a confirmation by e-mail could be sent to him.
    Our users were accustomed to receive this sort of e-mail and it's a deficiency for them.

  6. Display filesize for digital records

    Display the filesize information for Alma digital resources.

    Ideally this will display in both the ViewIt iframe in Primo beside the file name information.
    And display filesize from within the Alma Digital Viewer.

  7. Allow user to specify number of items to display (and select) per page

    Currently, only 20 items may be displayed and selected at a time. Most commercial websites offer a widget that allows the user to specify display of, for example, 25, 50, 100, or "all" matches when searching. (The widget option would be useful for other search types as well, but I'm concerned primarily with items here.) Adding such an option in Alma would be welcomed. Displays could still default to 20 per screen, but allow the user to display more on a single screen if desired.

    As of November release you can now select the number of results appearing on any list of results (previously, only a few lists had this feature). For some lists, the range is between 10 and 50 results. For other lists, it is between 20 and 100 results.

  8. Ability to change the default for reading room to NOT FINAL

    The default for the reading room is currently set to "final" check in. We wish to change this to "Not Final" to help avoid a scenario where Resource Sharing items inadvertently being returned to their home campus when users are not finished with them. Most of our librarians that use the Reading Room function would like the setting configurable so that they can select the option that best suits their workflow needs.

  9. Use the same font and formatting in the MD Editor and View Versions pane

    Alma currently uses a different font in the View Versions display than that used in the MD Editor. The records are also formatted differently, with the field number being center justified against the corresponding field, rather than the number appearing at the beginning of the field. Line spacing is also different between the two versions.

    These design issues make comparing two versions of a record side-by-side much more difficult than it should be.

  10. Ability to change the Requester in the Purchase Request form

    Several new features were added to the Purchase Request workflow with the May and June 2018 releases.

    One of these has meant a regression for our staff and negatively impacts the library services. In the past, any staff could create purchase requests in Alma, on behalf of academic staff, researchers and students. The patron name could be selected as Requester. This was particularly helpful to Circulation Desk operators and managers.     As of December release it is possible to allow an Alma user that does not have the Purchase Request Operator or Manager role to create a purchase request and change the requester of the purchase request to another user. The user can search for other users from the purchase request pickup field and can set the user with the auto complete option. This option is disabled by default. To enable it, contact Ex Libris Support.

  11. Rename Review and Approve functions in Acquisitons menu of new Alma Layout

    The Acquisitions Menu has some items with exactly the same name in the different sub-menus. When these show as Quick Links, it is impossible to tell which general function it will work with,

  12. Allow Alma phrase searching using quotation marks in quick search box

    Our catalogers use the quick search box on the Alma homepage to do keyword searches for titles in our collection. Recently we discovered that using quotation marks around a phrase does not successfully keep the words together as a phrase in the search. The only way to search for a phrase is to use the Advanced Search, and change "Contains keywords" to "Contains phrase". This is very time consuming.

    As of January release Alma will support phrase search in the simple search box. All entities and index types that have the option to use phrase search in Alma’s advanced search also have this capability with simple search when using double quotation marks to identify the phrase​.

  13. Purchase Requests API

    A Purchase Request API is needed. This would allow the library to seamlessly integrate with internal systems.

    From Francois Renaville: "We asked for this in May 2016 and were told in July 2016 (case 00222634 - API for Purchase Requests?) 'that API for purchase requests is on the Alma road map for 2017. Currently, there is no release date.' No news since then."

  14. Automatic transfer of the RS borrowing request cancellation note

    Functionality wanted: Cancellation notes in Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests to be transferred to the resource Notes tab automatically.

    Currently, cancellation notes in Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests don’t get transferred to the resource Notes tab automatically. However, since it is used in cancellation notification emails for users, ILL staffs should be able to have access to the same information the users see. This is necessary as it will help ILL staffs address user inquiries about the cancellation in a timelier manner when they come up.   15. Let's get the INN-Reach API working with Alma

    The INN-Reach API is out, has been out for awhile, and other ILS vendors (Bywater) are quickly making this available in the systems they support. Resource sharing via INN-Reach is important to many Alma libraries and the DCB alternative many of us have spent a lot of time and energy to set up (while waiting for the API) is costly, backward, and inefficient technology.

  16. Option to disable confirmation messages (not of deletion actions)

    That will be great if there will be an option to disable the confirmation messages when performing actions that are not of deletion (see attached image).

    The confirmation message “The description may need to be updated as well (using the generate button)” was improved to only show when relevant fields were changed and the description was not generated or updated manually. Customers who never require a reminder for updating the description are able to disable it completely.

  17. Requests in queue - notice to patrons

    When you have more request for an item than you have items, the new requests are automatically queued, but the requester do not get any message about this, and unless they check their Oria account they have no way to find out when they can expect to receive their item.

    We propose a function that automatically sends email to patrons if their requests have been queued. This must include their position in the queue.

  18. Add more times to scheduled weekly bibliographic import jobs

    When running import jobs on a schedule Alma only gives us one weekly option (Saturdays at 3:00 a.m.). OCLC WorldShare generally posts new, delete and updated files on Saturday mornings in the early a.m., although not always by 3:00 a.m.
    Since it doesn't make sense to run these import jobs daily since record sets are only delivered weekly, we have them set up to run at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday (the only weekly option that Alma gives us). This causes the following problems:

    1) Files of deleted records are loaded concurrently with files of new records for the same collections…

  19. Limit Resource Sharing Requests per academic year

    It would be great if Alma included an overridable limit to the number of resource sharing requests a user could submit for an academic year. It would also be great if limits can be set either on the patron type or user group.

  20. Simultaneously reject and complete lending requests

    When we digitally ship a lending request, we have the option to tick a box to simultaneously complete the request and remove it from the active worklist.

    However, if we reject a lending request, there is no option to complete the request at the same time. We have to do an additional workflow step to complete rejected requests and remove them from the active list.

    To solve this issue, a "Complete the request" checkbox should be added to the Reject Request dialog, allowing us to simultaneously reject and complete a lending request.
