  1. Option to restore Temporary Item Policy and Temporary Location when item is returned from Resource Sharing.

Issue: For items that have a temporary item policy or temporary location there should be a way to revert these temporary statuses when the items are returned from a Resource Sharing loan.
When items with these temporary designations are loaned via Resource Sharing Alma applies the Resource Sharing temporary statuses. When the items are returned the Resource Sharing statuses are cleared but library staff need to be able to direct items back to their temporary location. There are many instances when materials that have a temporary status are loaned via Resource Sharing (as we want them to be) but when…

  2. Notes on bibliographic records should open as a pop-up message when a user starts editing the record.

We have the option to add notes to bibliographic records in Alma which are only visible in the metadata editor. This is found under record actions – add note. The option to add notes here is very practical, but it is easy for the cataloger to ignore the note. To make the note harder to ignore it should open as a pop-up message when you first start to edit the bibliographic record in the metadata editor. This could be added as a feature that each library could turn on or off in their configuration menu.

  3. Alma - Analytics allows to count usage statistics of full text downloads executed from the 2 download buttons visible in Primo.

We have Primo VE, for the moment Alma does not record in Analytics the downloads made from the PDF viewer. Analytics only counts downloads when using the download button outside the Primo viewer (top right).

It is required to have real statistics of downloads of digital objects, from the 2 operational buttons in Primo, i.e. the button located inside the PDF viewer and the one located outside the PDF viewer, since it is not possible to know which of the buttons the user will use.

  4. Further filtering in Authority control task list

We are regularly getting old bib records in the Authority control task list and they make it hard for us to spot new bib headings that we need to add to our local authority file. It would be very helpful if it would be possible to filter the list by creation date to limit the list to new bib records.

  5. Changes made to Enumeration D - H, and Chronology K & M should appear in the item History tab

At this time, only changes made to the Enumeration Fields A-C, Chronology I-J, and Chronology L appear in the item record under the History tab; we would like for changes made to any of the Enumeration and Chronology fields to appear in the History tab of the item record.

If Alma is offering the use of 13 different enum/chron fields, they should all follow the same rules. Emphasis should not be given to just a handful of these fields, because many institutions use more than the 6 most popular fields.

  6. Customize search labels for local authorities

We would like to configure the search labels for local authorities. We have already checked, but the MARC21 fields used for the corresponding local authorities (084, 600, 651) are not shown in the list of search labels. Unfortunately, the support was not able to help us. They said that index codes to search index labels mapping and expanding the index fields is an enhancement request.

  7. Overlap Analysis - compare all IZ EXCEPT selected electronic collections (such as non-owned eBooks in EBA, DDA, and ATO collections)

Overlap Analysis would be more useful if we could compare all of our IZ EXCEPT certain selected electronic collections. The use case if that we load vendor records for titles in our Evidence-Based Acquisition, Access to Order, and DDAs. Since we do not yet own these resources, we would like these eliminated from the "all IZ" target sources.

  8. Show import profile for record versions in MDE

If I could see which import profile brought in which version of a bibliographic record within the MDE, I'd find it a lot easier to spot issues with import profiles (e.g. timing, merging, normalization rules). I think the best place for this info would be after the timestamp, e.g. "Version: 2 Created By: System (13/09/2023 15:11:01 BST) IMPORT PROFILE NAME"

  9. Sort by Publication Date: Full MARC21 capability for sorting (detailed date sorting via 008).

In Alma the option of sorting search results by "publication date" (emphasis on "date") is included in the "sort by" function. For the publication date of television materials, a detailed date can be given in 008[11-14] in MARC21 (with the code 008[6]=e). This should be taken into account when sorting.

  10. Allow form editing of Metadata Configuration profiles in addition to Extension files

The metadata configuration profiles are currently only editable by uploading XML files, which become invisible upon upload. This can become a nuisance if a library wants to make small additions to existing fields, or wants to add multiple new fields with numerous subfield/indicator definitions. It would be much easier if new values could be added using a form within Alma, via an "add row" link at the top of each page. For example, in the MARC21 bibliographic profile, an "add row" button could add a new MARC field and definition. Within each field would be additional "add row" buttons for…

  12. Option to hide libraries from Alma persistent search indexes

We do not make use of the institution-level Resource Sharing Library for anything at all (our physical library locations are all resource sharing libraries and are all we use for res share purposes), and so it would be great if we didn't have to see the out of the box RSL in the libraries drop down menu in Alma when doing searches.

Options to hide any items we don't make use of in general in Alma search indexes / other menus would be great, as it would declutter the interface and be less confusing for staff.

  13. Make accession numbers in configuration editable

In the Accession Configuration it is only possible to change the next sequence number. Not the sequence name, the library or the location. For example, when you want to add a library or change the library, you have to delete the row and enter the prefix again - with the correct sequence number. Because of the closure of our Central Library we had to delete nearly every single entry and make new entries for each prefix.

  14. Add filter for status to Get-Uers API

Please add a filter for status to the Get-Users API so we can retrieve users who are either active or inactive. Currently, our integration gets all users using the API and it takes about 30 mins but more than half of the users are inactive.

  16. group settings

NZ Group Settings listing: When updating Group Settings in the NZ, once I save a change to a library's group settings, it jumps to a new position. It makes it confusing when you are updating multiple libraries and they jump around so you don't know which ones are completed and which still need updating. I've missing updating libraries because the settings move around.

  17. Selecting multiple courses at once when assigning them to a reading list

When I am "working on" a reading list, on the Courses tab, I can only associate one course at a time. Is there a way to make multiple course selections possible? An example would be how we can select multiple titles in the repository search when adding titles to a reading list.

  19. Integration with worldshare

Have Alma and Worldshare ILL talk with each other enough that they share updates with each other. Right now, the only thing we can do is send a new request to WorldShare. All other functions have to be done in both Alma and WorldShare: receive, return, request for renewal, and cancellation.

The missing functionality is dependent on WorldShare development. Alma's NCIP server does enable other broker systems such as ILLiad and Tipasa to communicate actions such as receive , return, renewal and cancellation. That requires the broker system (WorldShare) to implement its end of the integration.

  20. Increase the maximum 'page size' limit for a 'set of results'

Currently the 'page size' setting only allows a maximum of '20'. This means that whenever a search is conducted only the first 20 records can be displayed on the first page of the search results. We would like to be able to set a default of '50' or more, so that when a search is conducted on user records, statistical notes, courses, bibliographic records, etc. we can easily see all and or more results.

Please see the below knowledge article for more information about the 'page_size' field:
