  1. New feature to link references

It will be very useful (at leas to me) to add a new feature that will allow to set a link between references, i.e.

    • is cited by
    • is review of
    • Is a rejoinder of
    • etc.

And the posibility to use that feature while building bibiographies to inser while citing a book where is reviewed, who has cited it,etc.

A search engine to follow that tree and navigate thru it would be useful too.

  2. Add "Last Month" short cut in Refworks Analytics

In the RefWorks Analytics interface in Admin, the default option for time is "This month", "This year", "Last 12 month" and "Custom". It would be very convenient to add an option for "Last Month".

  3. improve the spacing of text (particularly abstracts) on refworks site

The text in the abstracts on Refworks is very scrunched up, making it difficult to review the abstracts on screen. Please can there be some way to adjust this or made to 1.15 spacing as a default.

  4. Increase compatability for screen reader software by adding support for Read Aloud by LSDSoftware

While support exists for a few other screen readers, it would be very helpful for users with specialized access needs for the RefWorks read an uploaded PDF feature to be compatible with the Read Aloud browser plugin.

  7. Create a format to correctly cite APA 7th edition for white papers and published standards

There is not a category to correctly import references for white papers or standards published by professional organizations. When attempting to adapt other reference types for this use, none work correctly. RefWorks should be able to manage these types of documents correctly.

This request comes from case #00901397 sent to RefWorks Technical Services

  8. Video records and APA format

APA format requires that author/director precede the video title. The record format in RefWorks only includes a director field. The APA format export places title before director and excludes the [video] of [film] part of the citation.

Please provide more metadata field options for video records and options to select video, film, etc.

  9. Searching comments (sticky notes) in PDFs

Can you have a feature that would allow users to search their RefWorks database for comments (sticky notes) they have written on PDFs? Mendeley has this feature.

  11. Screen Reader Accessibility issue and RefWorks profile creation.

    Hello RefWorks Team,

My name is Daniel Bernardo and I am a Digital Accessibility Specialist reviewing online course materials at UNT. We reviewed RefWorks in regard to an upcoming course and found some accessibility issues regarding the use of assistive technology for users with visual impairments.

My colleague who is fully blind and relying on NVDA screen reader and keyboard navigation found that he couldn't continue setting up his profile by himself after registering due to the popup window that appears one the page that is linked in the confirmation email. In particular, the combo boxes to select First Name,…

  13. Highlight words in search function. Retain formatting from old Refworks.

The new Refworks should be at least as good as the Legacy version. It is not. First critical issue: when I do searches, the new Refworks will identify which references contain the search word, but it does not highlight WHERE in the reference the term appears. This was not the case with the old Refworks; if the old Refworks could do it, the new version should be able to. The notes field for some of my references is huge, and reading through the whole reference is a frustrating, time-consuming pain. Second critical issue: when my database was transferred from Legacy…

  14. Refworks citation manager

Refworks citation manager - the order of folders to narrow the citation selection from 'all references' down to a particular folder should be reversed, such that the most recent folder created, and therefore the one most likely to be required, should be at the top of the list and not the bottom.

  15. Refworks citation manager - where a citation indicates "(missing data)" there should be an easy method for determining

Refworks citation manager - where a citation indicates "(missing data)" there should be an easy method for determining exactly which elements are missing rather than a trial and error process. Perhaps Refworks could provide an indicator within the citation creation process as to which fields will result in missing data if not completed.

  17. Combining citations when article was published in installments, in Chicago Style

When a journal article is published in installments, over the course of at least two issues, according to Chicago Style, it should appear this way:

Brown, George C., ed. “A Swedish Traveler in Early Wisconsin: The Observations of Fredrika Bremer.” Pts. 1 and 2. Wisconsin Magazine of History 61 (Summer 1978): 300–318; 62 (Autumn 1978): 41–56.

Mine turns out like this, even after I edited the “Edition” field so it could have the “Pts. 1 and 2” included:

McLaughlin, George. "Cincinnati Artists of the Munich School." Pts. 1 and 2. The American Art Review 2, no. 1, 2 (Nov., Dec.…

  18. Assign custom sorting: chronologically, but in 17th ed. Chicago Style-Notes and Bib

While I want my entries to remain in Chicago Style, sometimes it is helpful to sort chronologically, but in more detail than RW currently allows which is only by year then author. I want to order the list more accurately: Year Ascending; Month Ascending; Day Ascending; Author; Title. I realize I can reorder the fields to begin with the full date, but then they are not in Chicago Style. How can I reorder the citations to be truly chronological (as I will have multiple dates within each year), without changing the Chicago Style order of each field?

  20. Fix discrepancy in handling of 'retrieved' date

In Edit record mode, 'Date retrieved' is a single uncontrolled text string. In Output Style editor, this data is split across two elements 'Retrieved (month/day)' and 'Retrieved (year)'. This means you risk ending up either with incomplete retrieved dates or with a repeat of the retrieval year in the citation output, depending on how the data is stored. Can these different data components by standardized, so that retrieval data is handled consistently?
