  1. Make the PDF reader open in a new tab

    When reading a PDF from a reference, the reference list becomes unavailable. It would be good to be able to continue to consult the reference list while a PDF is open.

    Also, when we click back from the PDF reader, we get taken back to the default/start view rather than where we were when we clicked on the PDF link, which means we need to navigate/scroll around to pick up where we left off.

  2. Be able to import your school contact list for student/faculty emails into RefWorks

    It would be great if we could have our school's contact info for emails imported into RefWorks so it was not necessary to manually type out each person's email for when you share a folder. This would greatly help when sharing with more than one person.

  4. Añadir una campo personalizado. Add a custom field

    Quisiera que el campo personalizado se vea igual que todos los demás campos, en todas las referencias: que esté a la vista cuando editas, sin tener que ir referencia por referencia, clicar “añadir más campos", buscarlo y rellenarlo. ¿Es posible hacer eso?
    Add a custom field. I want the custom field to look the same as all the other fields, in all the references: to be visible when you edit, without having to go reference by reference, click "add more fields", search and fill it in. Is it possible to do that?

  5. Allow alteration of Tags at import

    Without increasing the number of clicks to import, please add the function to change tags at import. This function could be added to the Import References/Assign to Folder page without requiring additional clicks if the user is happy with the tags being brought in.

  6. Add Social Media as a Ref Type

    We use Cite Them Right 11th ed. Many social media examples have a medium type e.g. [Podcast], [Facebook]. Medium is not a field I can add for a RefWorks webpage type.

  7. Add new field for translated books

    Could you please consider adding new fields; publisher and published year of translated version? Some bibliographies for books require them of ranslated version besides original version.

  8. Fix TypeErrors related to uBlock Origin

    Users who use uBlock Origin and try to log in to RefWorks are unable to do so. (Tested in Firefox and Chrome.) The devtools console reports a TypeError regarding some tracking structures found unexpectedly undefined at login time. There are very simple ways to handle such cases gracefully in the code, and should be a simple fix for any modern website.

    Right now, there is a help document at https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Knowledge_Articles/RefWorks_Browser_Best_Practices, to which a support representative will send users, upon request.   10. Add 'starts with' option for bulk edit/replace

    This would be useful for managing DOIs; DOIs may be imported with no linking prefix or with an out-dated linking prefix and may also pick up unwanted information such as a proxy component to links. Currently bulk edit allows for the removal of outdated and unwanted elements with confidence. This then leaves a basic DOI. A 'starts with' bulk edit option would make it easier to add in the correct prefix only where it is wanted.

  12. Inclusion of page numbers in the numeric styles with RCM, specific AMA 11th. ed.

    The citations style AMA 11th. ed. is a number style with superscript. Although the focus is on numbers it is possible to add page numbers to the superscript according to the AMA Manual of Style: A Guide for Authors, 2020, p. 64.

    With RCM it is not possible to add page numbers - I have tried to use the suffix-field - but it does not respond on "Edit citation".

    I did the same thing within Mendeley Cite and EndNote - using the suffix-field - and in these programs you can add the page numbers to the AMA superscript style.

  13. Remove "Use login from my institution" link from user login dialog box

    The RefWorks login dialog box has a link that says "Use login from my institution." Since our institution does not have Open Athens or any other the other similar tools, this link is misleading for our patrons.

  14. Abbreviations for in text citations

    When including citations in text via word application, allow opportunity to use abbreviation citation instead of full citation. E.G.
    currently shows as (National Health Service (NHS), 2014) whereas it would be helpful to have the option to pick it to automatically be (NHS, 2014) without manual editing.

  15. Make "This is an electronic source" Bulk edit available

    Records imported from some databases sometimes have a check in "This is an electronic source" even if they are from the printed version. I would like to be able to edit this check in the bulk edit.

  16. Develop RefWorks App for mobile devices

    Please make RefWorks available as an App for mobile devices. Students tell me that they prefer Zotero for this reason, as it enables them to access their references when they are researching in the field (i.e. without internet access)

  17. Always accurate display of results and associated folders

    Unfortunately, in the advanced search, the result display (in my own citation view) does not show the exact hit for each reference (e.g. 1 of 27) and the folder(s) the reference is in.

    In RefWorks legacy this was the case and extremely helpful to us.
    Will these features still be implemented?

    I think it is a pity that the folder display is now only in normal or full view.

  18. Automatically switch from Title to Short Title in repeated references

    In Chicago Notes & Bibliography style, repeated references are supposed to display a shortened title.

    For example, the following book:

    Barbie Zelizer, Remembering to Forget: Holocaust Memory through the Camera's Eye (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2003), 7.

    Subsequent citations after the first should appear as:

    Zelizer, Remembering to Forget 7.

    Please add an option to replace the Title field with the Short Title field in repeated references. (Or better yet, use AI to automate shortening titles!)

    Add a feature in "manage projects" to hide or group projects. Our instructors have a long list of projects that students have invited them to that they'd like to organize into current and archived areas to more easily navigate.

  20. New feature to link references

    It will be very useful (at leas to me) to add a new feature that will allow to set a link between references, i.e.

    • is cited by
    • is review of
    • Is a rejoinder of
    • etc.

    And the posibility to use that feature while building bibiographies to inser while citing a book where is reviewed, who has cited it,etc.

    A search engine to follow that tree and navigate thru it would be useful too.
