  1. Set default folder

How about a feature to set a default folder where refs are uploaded? I'm using the taskbar function to save to RefWorks and I'm required to assign the folder manually from the user interface every time.

  2. Please make the record count on the shared folders display the same record number to all users

Currently the record count only shows the number of citations added by that user on the shared folders. A shared folder shows "0" if I've added nothing, but might contain 50 items. It would be useful for all on a shared folder to see the same count.

  3. Journal names when abbreviated dont't get added to the reference list correctly.

There seems to be a bug when adding references with abbreviated journal name to the reference list. Sometimes the reference gets divided into two lines even though it would fit to one line. This doesn't happen every time, but my collegeis having exatly the same problem.

  4. RefWorks API documentation

We urgently need to see the API documentation for ProQuest RefWorks so that we can create our own export function for our library catalogue (Koha).

The 'Save to RefWorks' button does not work for Koha so we have no option other than to create our own embedded export feature. Our developers cannot do this without the API documentation.

  5. Remove shared folder access codes

We've noticed that when a user shares a folder, the link that the recipient receives generates a screen that asks for an access code if they are not already logged into RefWorks.

We can see that there is a login link in the top banner but most of our users will miss this.

Is it possible to have the usual login options (e-mail address and institutional login) in the main screen?

We've also noticed that, once you do login, it takes a little while for the shared folder to appear in the menu section on the left and once it…

  7. Search option for document in google doc tool by Ref ID

In word tool as well as in google doc tool if I want to cite the reference using Ref ID search (which is good new idea) but not able to do it. So not useful due to this limitation.

  8. Ignore punctuation in bibliography

The ordering of titles surrounded by inverted commas is separate to those titles that do not have inverted commas, in a bibliography.
Is it possible to ignore the inverted commas so that all titles are listed alphabetically, regardless of punctuation?

I have tried ediing the 'title' field in the Bibliography settings but I don't see any option to ignore punctuation here.

  10. Cut and paste references in google docs

It would be great if it was possible to cut and paste in google docs without the references in the text you cut out disappears, or aren’t recognized as references when they are pasted into the text again.
They don’t do this immediately but when you update the document or change your citation style.

  11. Be able to import your school contact list for student/faculty emails into RefWorks

It would be great if we could have our school's contact info for emails imported into RefWorks so it was not necessary to manually type out each person's email for when you share a folder. This would greatly help when sharing with more than one person.

  12. European Newsstream My Research - link to New RefWorks

My Research only works with Legacy RefWorks not New RefWorks. Please can this be changed as it seems daft not to work with the new product?

13. Be able to set sharing options on sub-folders like you do on folders

Add sharing function for individual & group for sub-folders. It would be useful to be able to set sharing options on a sub folder without the parent folder having to be shared out as well.

  14. Fix discrepancy in handling of 'retrieved' date

In Edit record mode, 'Date retrieved' is a single uncontrolled text string. In Output Style editor, this data is split across two elements 'Retrieved (month/day)' and 'Retrieved (year)'. This means you risk ending up either with incomplete retrieved dates or with a repeat of the retrieval year in the citation output, depending on how the data is stored. Can these different data components by standardized, so that retrieval data is handled consistently?

  15. WAYFless URL to access RefWorks 3 directly without using login page.

We would need a WAYFless URL to RefWorks 3. In our workflows users want to go directly to RefWorks 3 from within other applications. The route to go to the login page is not needed with a WAYFLess URL. Haveing requested this already three years ago nothing seems to have happened. Frustrating.

Thank you for your feedback, and apologies for the late response.
We will be taking a look at this, however at this time we cannot provide an expected schedule. While the benefit of this feature to the users is clear, we are currently focusing on closing some parity gaps vs. legacy RefWorks and on completing some key roadmap features. I will update here when we will have something more concrete to share.

  16. Google Docs Tool -- Add the ability to include page numbers as part of the in-text citation

In APA if you are using a direct quote one should include the page number(s) as part of the in-text citation. In the Google docs tool, there is a space for adding page numbers for that very reason, but it's grayed out and unusable.

Our students primarily use Google docs for their writing so this would be super helpful.

  17. "Create Account" option shows up too soon, produces error, turns students away

On the Legacy Platform, students are experiencing an error when they attempt to create new account. The "Create Account" option shows up as soon as the consent button is checked, so students check on "Create Account" instead of "next" and experience an error, then turn away. Please do not put the "Create Account" option up until it's actually an option... until after student has entered their name, field of study, etc. This is extremely poor design.

  19. Replace interstitial page with login page that directs users to Legacy or New depending on credentials

The interstitial page confuses our students because if they are new to RefWorks, they have no idea which option to choose. If you could replace the interstitial page with a log in page - that includes the option to create an account (this would go to New RefWorks) - everyone would be so much happier.
