  1. Allow instructors to see List and Item Discussions more clearly

Although there are concerns around anonymity of list and item level discussions, instructors are interested in being able to easily get a course-level overview of the discussions on their lists, and items on their lists. Currently the Notifications can help to get instructors to individual comments, but these have no course context, having list filtering and no course details. Being able to see whole discussions from notifications and seeing the courses with which they are associated would help greatly here.

For example, if a lecturer is seeking feedback on assigned readings on a list, it would be useful to be…

  2. Extra scope in Leganto with all the citations already processed by the library

We would like another scope to be added in Leganto: The completed Leganto citations already approved by the library. Effectively, the content in Alma>Fulfillment>Course Reserves>Citations.

In most cases a citation will rarely be perfect when you import it to a reading list. You usually have to customize the citation in some way. To be able to reuse the already processed and completed citation will save a lot of work for both instructors and/or librarians. This is especially true for book chapters, as not many are catalogued in Alma as such.

Completed citations could be easily searchable by instructors in Leganto.

  3. Autocomplete Non-CiteIt Citations based on Material Type or other configured rules

It would be very useful to be able to have configuration in Alma that would allow citations with a specific list of defined Material Types to be set to citation status: Complete and Copyright Status: Not Required or Approved automatically when they first are created on the Reading List. This would save staff working on Reading lists where there are numerous citations which need no copyright approval or should be auto Approved and need no user intervention, to be automatically marked complete if they matched a configurable list of material types exiting in Alma already.

    At the moment it takes…

  4. Instructor / list owner to receive notification when list and/or all list citations marked complete

It would be useful for the instructor to know when all citations have been dealt with by library staff so that they can then choose to publish their list (rather than making the list available to students despite some items not being obtainable).

  5. make tags of mandatory or optional reading as compulsory so that librarians know exactly which material to buy without having to clarify

if these tags were compulsory Liaison librarian wouldn't then have to clarify with instructors whether or not to buy material.

  6. Link to earlier book editions in the student view

To be able to add a link to a reading list to all earlier editions of a book (which are suitable for students to use). The link would need to be visible in the student view and ideally display all the earlier edition books with links.

  7. Add ability to adjust display order of Library Discussion & bX recommendations

When viewing a citation, the Bx recommendations pop up above library discussion often pushing them down out of view. It would be preferable to enable a swap of the order of discussion and bX so discussion appears first or show both collapsed by default so the discussion option is lost to users.

  8. Export to Excel - Remove "Citation" from each column

We want to suggest a slight modification of the export to Excel.

As you can see on the attached screenshot, the title for each column is preceded by Referanse/Citation.
    Ex:
Citation Volume | Citation Issue | Citation pages | Citation start page and so on.

The document would be easier to read, and thus more user friendly without the extra "citation" text.

  9. Make tags clickable

Tags look clickable in Leganto, even if they are not. It creates the expectation that something should happen. Some users might expect they will be taken to the full text of the citation, depending on the tag label.

What we would like to happen when a user clicks on a tag is that they get an overview of all the citations with the same tag. It's a quicker and more intuitive way than the current way of filtering by tag.

  11. Field to display URL where item type is Website

Where Website is chosen as the item type then it would be useful to have a field that displays the URL, in both the short and long form of the citation in Leganto. Ideally this should be displayed in <angled brackets> in keeping with common reference citation guidelines, but it would also serve as a useful back up if the link were to stop working. This would not need to be a hyperlink and may need to be different to the one that we are using as it would need to exclude any proxy url prefixes that may be in…

  12. No openURL in exported reference lists with reference styles (Chicago and APA)

When exporting citations to Word with a reference style, openURLs are included to some citations such as journal articles and electronic books.
    Example:
    https://bibsys-um.userservices.exlibrisgroup.com/view/uresolver/47BIBSYSHIM/openurl?ctxenc=info:ofi/enc:UTF-8&ctxid=101&ctxtim=2017-10-18T15%3A36%3A41IST&ctxver=Z39.88-2004&urlctxfmt=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:ctx&urlver=Z39.88-2004&rfrid=info:sid/primo.exlibrisgroup.com-BIBSYSILS&reqid=&rftdat=ie=47BIBSYSUBTO:5194209890002205,ie=47BIBSYSHIO:5149861280002218,ie=47BIBSYSHIM:5116987240002223,ie=47BIBSYSHH:5153300090002214,ie=47BIBSYSNETWORK:71468414340002201,language=eng,view=HIM&svcdat=viewit&u.ignoredatecoverage=true&userip=&req.skin=primo

This should not be the case.

According to both APA and Chicago, the DOI should be included if one is assigned.
If none is assigned, then you can include a URL. So URLs are not strictly necessary and they don't need to appear in the citation if the DOI is present.

    APA just…

  13. Limit availability of Add to Reading List icon in Primo to signed in users/specific user group

We would like to be able to choose to only display the "Add to Reading List" icon in the "Send to" action options in Primo (See attached) if the user is currently signed in or if the signed in user is part of a specific UserGroup, for example, a STAFF UserGroup.

  14. Limit the approvals request list

It would greatly improve workflow to allow the staff processing the Approvals Request List to be able to limit the items in the list by the year, semester and request type (e.g. to weed out Patron Request types). This would let staff show just the items they are interested in, and eliminate all the noise of the old approvals.

Attached is an example of how we would like the Status filter to appear on the Approval Requests List.

  15. Change reading list jobs to work on sets of reading list IDs instead of reading list Codes

Currently the reading list jobs in Alma/Leganto rely on users creating a set of reading lists. Unfortunately the creation of the set is based only on the reading list code, which:

    • makes it inconsistent with all other set creation activities which support IDs

    • adds unnecessary complication when loading the file of data to create the set, in that you then have to worry about handling special characters and unique codes.

It would basically be the same as requiring users to upload a set of titles to create a title/physical item set.

We've had to create several reading list sets in…

  17. Edit Pane to remain on Screen when editing & saving an item.

When you edit an item in a reading list and click save the list advisor panel replaces the edit panel, it would be better for the edit panel to remain on screen after you've clicked on save as further edits may be needed to the same item?

  18. Configuration of a 'pop up' when creating a new list using a black tamplate.

When you create a new list using a blank template and want to add some sections you are able to add the first section however when you want to add a second section a pop-up appears which tells you to add items to the first section and this pops up in front of the add section button, also there doesn't seem to be a way of closing the pop up unless you click to add an item.

It would be good if there was an 'X' in the pop up so we can continue to add sections or an option…

  19. Adding metadata to articles via the search interface in ALMA

When using the Link Resolver on an uploaded article it needs comprehensive amounts of metadata attached in order to locate the resource.

If an article is uploaded without metadata the librarian needs to search Primo and manually add the needed metadata to the item.

In order to optimize the workflow we would like to be able to use Locate Resource in Alma to find the metadata and automagically add it to the item. As we are using Primo VE this should be possible.

  20. Hide old courses

Some course are run every semester which means there are potentially two courses to choose from when associating a list to a course.
There is a risk that the instructor chooses the wrong/old course.
It would be a nice feature to be able to hide old courses from instructors without deleting them from Alma, as they still might be useful.
