  1. Leganto Refresh This Page

The ‘Refresh this page’ function in the old Leganto interface allowed you to refresh a long list with collapsed sections and would return the list with the sections still collapsed and only the section you were working on open.

This option has gone from the NUI. If you use the browser refresh, the list reopens without the sections collapsed. This is extremely disruptive to the workflow of staff and leads to time wasted and confusion in finding the part of the list that was being worked on.

Please can the 'Refresh this page' function be restored?

  2. Add a librarian/reviewer field to Reading List in Alma

We would like to have a possibility to add information about librarian/reviewer (a person who is responsible for processing the list) or list coordinator (someone who distributes/assigns lists to reviewers in a particular department) to reading list in Alma. It should be an editable field, available for rollover, and visible in Analytics in Course Reserves Subject Area.

In the future this information can be used to configure the following auto-assign-workflow: when the list owner sends a list to the library, the list changes its status to Ready for processing, Reviewer/Coordinator is activated as an assignee, and a message about auto-assign…

  3. Better interoperability – add a new symbol in Alma as an indication when an attachment is hidden in Leganto

We use the Leganto citation ‘Hide link’ feature to hide attachments from the Student view.

As UNSW process reading lists in Alma, it will be helpful if there is a symbol to indicate the attachment is hidden so we don’t have to select the "View in Leganto" for each citation to check whether the attachment is hidden or not.

We manually add a tag to show if an attachment is hidden, but it is not practical.

It will be even better if the ‘Hide link’ option is available in Alma, in addition to Leganto.

    Thank you.

  4. Show course details when selecting a list to copy a section or item to

In Leganto, when copying an item or section to another list, no course details are currently displayed. This makes it difficult or impossible to select the correct list to copy to. Some courses share the same name (and therefore the same list name) but have separate lists, such as in the case of a postgraduate offering and an undergraduate offering. Additionally, some courses may have an active list for each semester the course is offered. Other lists may share the same generic title, such as ‘Resource list’. In these cases, it is impossible to select the right list to copy…

  5. NEW UI: Leganto cover thumbnail size in the new UI

Sometimes, Instructors are in trouble when trying to identify the correct citation to manage. It would be helpful if the thumbnails of the books' cover for the instructor view would be bigger.

  6. The ability to ask multiple questions and answers on one citation

We currently have a question setup in Leganto. To ask whether a piece of reading is mandatory or supplementary. We were testing asking a question about Print only items needing to be digitized. However, we found out that you can only ask one question for one citation. It would be good to have the ability to have more than one question for one citation being created.

  7. Availability of “Request digitization”: Take item policies and existence of a digitization department into account

In the Leganto UI, the option “request digitization” is sometimes displayed although digitization is actually not possible. There are two different cases:

    1. he item belongs to a library without digitization department.
If an item belongs to a library without digitization department, the option “request digitization” is still available in the associated citation in Leganto. If an instructor tries to send a digitization request for such an item, an error message is displayed.

    2. The item has an item policy that does not allow digitization.
If an item associated with a citation in Leganto has a “no copy” item policy, the option…

  8. Link from course info to reading lists

Today for the two thousandth time(*) I've searched in Alma for a course and absent-mindedly clicked the course code link in order to get to the reading lists, then had to go back and get to them via the ... menu instead.

Reading lists have a "Courses" tab - can the course information page please have a "Reading lists" tab? Or even just a link from the sidebar to the "Course's Reading List " page.

    (*) Conservative estimate.

  9. Sort citations by section in Alma

Most of our institutions use a two-section structure in Leganto, where one section is recommended literature. Citations in this section are not treated the same way by the library as "mandatory citations". Hence the need to sort citations in reading lists by section in Alma.

The feedback we got from an institution is that they would like "Section" to be a filter/dropdown menu where they can choose a specific section, the same way the tag menu works.

  10. Leganto mobile Experience improvement

Some functional and layout aspects need to be improved in the Leganto Mobile Experience.

    1. Leganto mobile hasn't any top header; the app is completely anonymous (neither the institution logo nor the name of the product is visible)

    2. The layout of the general menu is different from the one presented in May 2024, and it has a lot of line spacing. "Upcoming due dates” are always visible also for institutions that disabled this feature.

    3. The names of the reading lists are truncated if they are quite long. We’d expect complete list names to be shown, spanning multiple rows if needed

  11. Limit the number of times an importance tag can be used on a reading list

We would find it very useful to set a limit on the number of times a tag can be used on a list – for example to configure tags so that only one item per reading list can be tagged as Core. We use this tag to flag items requested for our eTextbook Programme and this would help us avoid the issue of multiple Core-tagged items.

  12. Add Workflow Notes to Reading List Citation Slips

Currently, Reading list citation slips are not configured to include Workflow Notes, which means processing instructions are not included on the pull slips and that information must be retrieved separately. It would expedite reading list processing to have Workflow Notes included in these slips (which currently include basic bibliographic information, call number, and bar code).

  13. Use the “Course Reserves Automatic Statuses” regardless of rollover type when recalculating citation status

Idea based on SalesForce case 00938590

TLDR: Use the “Course Reserves Automatic Statuses” regardless of rollover type when recalculating citation status.

In Leganto, there are two ways of initiating a rollover:

A: Directly in the Leganto interface by staff or instructors
B: Via a Course Loading Integration Profile in Alma

When a rollover is initiated through the Leganto interface, it follows certain rules set in the system (Configuration Menu > Leganto > List Management > Instructor Rollover Operations). If «Citation statuses» is set to “Recalculate”, the rollover process treats all the citations as if they were new and consults the…

  14. Complete change log for reading lists

Our Instructors are in need of a feature that allow them to retrieve/view a complete change log for reading lists.

The feature ‘View recent changes’ is somewhat similar, but the feed currently only display changes made by others - not your own. It would be great if this feature were expanded to include all changes made on a list.

Being able to review all changes made to a reading list is not only useful for monitoring a list, it is also an important collaboration tool – primarily with fellow Instructors, but also e.g. when reviewing course material changes with faculty…

  15. Add option to import citations in bulk to "Search the Library" and "Import References"

Currently, it is only possible to add one single citation at a time to a reading list when using "Search the Library" or "Import References from Zotero/from Mendeley". It would be very convenient if instructors could select multiples citations in the results list and import them in bulk into the reading list.

  16. Suppress tags from specified citation material types

We would like to be able to hide certain tags from specific material types, for example hide our 'Digitisation request' tag from citations which are already available electronically.

  17. Zotero/ Mendeley Import: Add option to select a folder/ a collection

In Zotero and Mendeley, users can organize their references in folders or collections. In Leganto, however, citations from reference management systems can only be imported at the library level (everything). Especially for users with extensive reference collections, it would be much clearer if a specific folder or a specific collection could be selected when importing citations into Leganto.

  18. Make it possible for students to view archived lists in leganto.

A course may have ended but students often need to refer to old lists and the literature shared in the coming semesters.

That means that students often accumulate a lot of lists during the years enrolled, making the lists-list long in leganto – and us having a lot of active lists for ended courses in Alma.

It would be great if students could access archived lists from somewhere in their list tab in leganto. If archived lists weren’t just available for instructors then we could use the archive function to keep a better focus for both instructors and students in…

  19. Add PNX record to citation data

Troubleshooting Leganto links is more helpful when staff can understand where the record originates or is pulled from. Leganto allows staff members to search by PNX record ID and the Alma MMS ID. However, when broken links are reported, this information is not shared in the citation metadata.

Adding this data to the process would help ensure that staff can compare the correct items when troubleshooting broken links. While we know there is a citation origin field in Leganto Analytics, it would be more effective to go a step further and have an option like a bookmarklet that can be…

  20. Hide locations from Resource Locate

    Hide locations from Resource Locate

We would like an option to filter out specific locations for the resource locate functionality in Leganto.

For legal reasons we can't purge lost/discarded items, they have to remain in Alma where they are collected in locations that are suppressed from discovery so they don't show up in Primo. Unfortunately that doesn't exclude them from being used as positive results for resource locating even though they are not actually available.

We also have several collections that are not accessible to people but (some of them) show up in Primo. Those are also items we wouldn't…
