How can we improve Leganto?

  1. Option to run Process and Enrich Citations job in draft mode

    Would be useful to have the option to run the Process and Enrich Citations job in draft mode. This would enable to us to see what citation to record matches were going to be made in advance, and edit the job if it looked like there were going to be errors in the matching / citations we didn't want included.
    This would be similar to the draft mode options when running the 'Rollover Ledgers' and 'Rollover PO Lines' jobs.

  2. Copying Citations Between Reading Lists

    When copying citations from one reading list to another, Leganto allows users to copy only to the lists saved in the "My Lists" section. This functionality works well for instructors, but librarians preparing lists on behalf of faculty need to save all the necessary lists in the "My Lists" section beforehand. Librarians should have the ability to copy citations to any available list.   3. Importance tags - limit to one per citation

    We use importance tags to inform our purchasing, but often encounter citations which have been given multiple tags. We would find it useful to be able to configure the system to allow only one importance tag per citation.

  4. Rollover - Allow Excel files to be directly uploaded to course loader integrated profile

    Currently we have to create a spreadsheet for a course rollover, then re-format it into text tab delimited file and then add it to a FTP server before it can be run in the course loader integrated process. This is a long winded process where errors can creep in.

    It would be an improvement if you could upload the file directly in the Course loader integrated profile as a file upload. It would also be better if this upload could be an Excel spreadsheet rather than a text tab delimited file

  5. Deactivate filters in “lists” area and filters related to citations inside the lists

    We would like to have the possibility to deactivate filters in “lists” area and filters related to citations inside the lists.
    Some of these types of filters are not relevant for us.

    For Examples:

    CITATION FILTERS:
    - DUE DATE: no due date in our workflows. Once published, lists and citations have to be always available to our patrons.
    - STATUS: citation status are related to the activities carry out by librarians, instructors don’t need to see them
    LIST FILTERS:
    - COURSE STATUS: the distinction between active and inactive course is not relevant for us
    - LIST TYPE: we automatically create…

  6. Digitization request form in Leganto: add configuration options

    As of now, the digitization request form used in the Leganto UI cannot be configured. We think that it would be a useful enhancement if libraries were able to enable and disable fields as well as define the number of note fields and page range fields such as it is the case for the digitization request form in Primo VE.

  7. Report of instructors having opted in or out for notifications

    In Leganto, instructors can opt in or out to receive email notifications on events. In order to know to what degree we can rely on these for communications (and under what circumstances we need to approach the instructor by other means) we would like to create a report in Analytics (or in Alma) to see which instructors have opted in or out.

  8. Make the workflow-note deletable

    At the moment there is no way to get rid of the workflow-note created by Leganto Questions. Neither by hand nor via job.

    Ex Libris told us that this is by design, but to us this creates issues as we can't create "to do" reports in Analytics based on a note we can't delete after the job was done.

    It also does not improve the already cluttered 'Edit Citations' screen.

    Additionally it is possible to delete the corresponding tag (Citation > Edit > Tags > Tag type: Workflow) which contradicts the "by design" statement.

    We are therefore asking Ex Libris…

  9. Allow Leganto to display different general messages to different user groups

    Leganto February 2021 release included an Ideas Exchange introducing:
    “Two new parameters allow you to define when and to whom the value in the general message parameter will display…The new generalmessagerole parameter allows you to specify that the value in the general_message parameter will display only for the user role indicated”

    The University of New South Wales welcomes this enhancement. We believe that the ability to display a different message simultaneously in both Leganto Instructor and Student environments improves this communication functionality further.
    This provides the benefit of varying the wording of messages aimed at differing target groups.

  10. Add parameter "no list expected" to make sets and global changes to courses via "Course bulk update" job

    A few monts ago, Alma added the option "no list expected" to the courses. This parameter can only be searched through Analytics, but we want to:
    -make it available in Alma to refine searches when making sets.
    -be an option to make global changes to courses in the "course bulk update" job

    Example: I want to make a set with all courses that belong to an academic department and the parameter "no list expected" is unchecked.
    Then, I want to make global changes to mark "no list expected" in all courses of this set.

  11. Add a librarian/reviewer field to Reading List in Alma

    We would like to have a possibility to add information about librarian/reviewer (a person who is responsible for processing the list) or list coordinator (someone who distributes/assigns lists to reviewers in a particular department) to reading list in Alma. It should be an editable field, available for rollover, and visible in Analytics in Course Reserves Subject Area.

    In the future this information can be used to configure the following auto-assign-workflow: when the list owner sends a list to the library, the list changes its status to Ready for processing, Reviewer/Coordinator is activated as an assignee, and a message about auto-assign…

  12. NEW UI: Leganto cover thumbnail size in the new UI

    Sometimes, Instructors are in trouble when trying to identify the correct citation to manage. It would be helpful if the thumbnails of the books' cover for the instructor view would be bigger.

  13. Better interoperability – add a new symbol in Alma as an indication when an attachment is hidden in Leganto

    We use the Leganto citation ‘Hide link’ feature to hide attachments from the Student view.

    As UNSW process reading lists in Alma, it will be helpful if there is a symbol to indicate the attachment is hidden so we don’t have to select the "View in Leganto" for each citation to check whether the attachment is hidden or not.

    We manually add a tag to show if an attachment is hidden, but it is not practical.

    It will be even better if the ‘Hide link’ option is available in Alma, in addition to Leganto.

  14. Availability of “Request digitization”: Take item policies and existence of a digitization department into account

    In the Leganto UI, the option “request digitization” is sometimes displayed although digitization is actually not possible. There are two different cases:

    1. he item belongs to a library without digitization department.
      If an item belongs to a library without digitization department, the option “request digitization” is still available in the associated citation in Leganto. If an instructor tries to send a digitization request for such an item, an error message is displayed.

    2. The item has an item policy that does not allow digitization.
      If an item associated with a citation in Leganto has a “no copy” item policy, the option…

  15. Allow configuration of the "Most Common" items types displayed at Add Item in Leganto

    When adding items in the Leganto user interface, the material type list is long, but a small number of material types are given prominence as "Most common". For the purposes of assisting instructors to correctly add certain item types (extracts, Eoffprints, etc, it would be very useful to be able to add items to this list or configure what appears. The most common is much larger and clearer and so for lesser used but important material types it can prove difficult for instructors to find them causing extra work and more unnecessary queries for library staff.

  16. Sort citations by section in Alma

    ​Most of our institutions use a two-section structure in Leganto, where one section is recommended literature. Citations in this section are not treated the same way by the library as "mandatory citations". Hence the need to sort citations in reading lists by section in Alma.

    The feedback we got from an institution is that they would like "Section" to be a filter/dropdown menu where they can choose a specific section, the same way the tag menu works.

  17. Limit the number of times an importance tag can be used on a reading list

    We would find it very useful to set a limit on the number of times a tag can be used on a list – for example to configure tags so that only one item per reading list can be tagged as Core. We use this tag to flag items requested for our eTextbook Programme and this would help us avoid the issue of multiple Core-tagged items.

  18. Show course details when selecting a list to copy a section or item to

    In Leganto, when copying an item or section to another list, no course details are currently displayed. This makes it difficult or impossible to select the correct list to copy to. Some courses share the same name (and therefore the same list name) but have separate lists, such as in the case of a postgraduate offering and an undergraduate offering. Additionally, some courses may have an active list for each semester the course is offered. Other lists may share the same generic title, such as ‘Resource list’.   19. Add Workflow Notes to Reading List Citation Slips

    Currently, Reading list citation slips are not configured to include Workflow Notes, which means processing instructions are not included on the pull slips and that information must be retrieved separately. It would expedite reading list processing to have Workflow Notes included in these slips (which currently include basic bibliographic information, call number, and bar code).

    New UI - please allow institutions to customise the 'Add item' menu.
    We want to be able to hide 'Import References' from the 'Add item' menu. Support have advised that this is not currently possible.
