Allow configuration of the "Most Common" items types displayed at Add Item in Leganto
When adding items in the Leganto user interface, the material type list is long, but a small number of material types are given prominence as "Most common". For the purposes of assisting instructors to correctly add certain item types (extracts, Eoffprints, etc, it would be very useful to be able to add items to this list or configure what appears. The most common is much larger and clearer and so for lesser used but important material types it can prove difficult for instructors to find them causing extra work and more unnecessary queries for library staff.

Pushing this for 2026: A quick win for institutional customization.
Revisiting this from 2021 because the core issue has not changed. Every institution has different pedagogical requirements and frequently used material types. Forcing a one-size-fits-all "Most Common" list directly contradicts the flexibility Leganto otherwise offers. Allowing administrators to pin 3-5 custom material types to the top of the "Add Item" interface would be a massive UX improvement for academic staff and a huge administrative relief for the library. -

This would be great to have. Both choosing what shows in "Most Common", and what is excluded.

In addition, I would like to be able to suppress/hide selected types that are not "Most Common." Many of those would rarely, if ever, be added to a list, so reducing the cognitive load on instructors would improve the user experience.

This should be simple to achieve - just add a parameter to the Citation Material Types Code table that allows us to set each type as belonging in the "most common" section or not. We have several material types that we'd like to add in that section.
