  1. Apply bibliographic mapping rules when updating citations via 'Manage link to library'

When the 'link to library locate' parameter is set to 'overlay' or 'override', could it be made to apply the bibliographic mapping rules that we've customised? This would give us an easy way to update a citation's metadata to our current standards, rather than having to manually edit it, or delete and re-add it.

  2. API support for uploading and downloading citation files

We would like the Leganto APIs to support full file handling on citations.

Currently, we only see an option to remove a file from a citation via API. As far as we can tell, there is no way to:

    • upload a file to a citation via API
    • download a file attached to a citation via API

Our main use case is copyright compliance:
We need to automatically download files attached to citations, apply required copyright markings or notices to the files themselves, and then upload the updated versions back to the corresponding citations via API. This would replace…

  3. Allow option to add 'Open Access' indicator to citations in bulk job

As of 2026, visual icons have been introduced as options in Leganto citations to indicate Open Access and/or Open Educational Resources. This idea focuses on the Open Access indicator specifically.

This OA icon can be added manually when editing an individual citation, by ticking a box. Also, in cases where we have an OA resource in Primo and the familiar open padlock icon is present on the record, this icon will now display automatically on reading list citations to show it is Open Access, if cited via our collections since the recent introduction of the indicator. However there isn’t a…

  4. New task lists for accessible file requests

The current Reading Lists Task Lists in Alma are limited to reading lists that are unassigned and in various stages of preparation/processing/completion.

To improve the library workflow, it would be helpful to have new task lists for Leganto files where instructors have requested accessible files.

We recommend 3 separate sets: Accessibility Request -- Received, Accessibility Request -- In Progress, and Accessibility Request -- Completed (or whichever language will provide the most consistency with the tasks that already exist). This way libraries can keep track of materials at every stage of remediation.

  5. Allow libraries to modify the More Options feature of the instructor view

The ability for instructors to request an accessible file added in April 2026 was a welcome addition to the Leganto; however, its placement within the "More options" menu isn't obvious.

We recommend moving this option outside of the menu, or allowing libraries to change the layout on their own, so that instructors don't need to select "More options" before seeing the "Request accessible file" feature.

The ability to see this option below the citation, without an extra click, will draw more attention and make it more likely that instructors will request the accessible formats that they are required by law…

  6. Add Category Pop-Up when exporting from NDE to Leganto

When an item is added to Leganto directly from the Export menu in NDE, the pop up menu to enforce a category tag is not supported - allowing items to be added to Leganto untagged. Enforcing this pop up would save the academic having to go into Leganto to update the citation, or have a load of citations coming through for processing without a tag.

  8. Student view – make the collapsed sections view more attractive

We set longer lists to open with sections collapsed and would not want to change this. However in the new UI this "sections collapsed" opening screen is overly clean and not very attractive. We would like something which entices students to want to delve further. In the old UI there were thumbnails for each section based on the book covers of the first few citations on the list. The new UI would benefit from something more visual: perhaps a thumbnail or icon for each section.

  9. Leganto UI: Remove the Full Details link to simplify interface options

There are four different places that staff can click on a citation to view, add or edit information which is unnecessarily confusing.

Suggestion: Remove the full details link as this pane can also be opened by clicking on the availability info. This would leave three distinct options for viewing and editing citation information:

    • Clicking on the citation allows notes and tags to be added and digitisation requests to be placed.
    • Clicking on the availability info gives full detail about holdings/links
    • Clicking on edit allows the staff member to edit the item details

This would simplify the interface and also has…

  10. Option to indent citations e.g. for alternative editions/citations

Currently instructors are able to indent section headings. It would be really useful if they could also indent a particular citation within the sections. This would be particularly useful when there are two editions of a book, as it would make it clearer visually that the two citations are linked. We often list 2 editions of a book because we are unable to buy sufficient copies or there is not much difference between editions. Increasingly we may also have an e-book of a very old edition but only print copies of newer editions. Currently when there are multiple editions in…

  11. Student view – make additional action icons available for items, e.g. quick cite

Currently the share icon is the only 'action' that is visible in the list alongside the citation. Other actions can only be accessed via the citation menu.

This is inconsistent with the UI in Primo where students can access several actions using icons which appear alongside the item. We believe that the user experience of both systems would be improved by greater consistency in how this functionality is accessed by exposing more of the actions in the citation menu as icons in Leganto.

Ideally, we would like to see icons for quick cite, save to favourites and export as this…

  12. Close the pop up window after viewing full details or editing a citation by clicking on the main list behind

Next to each citation in a Leganto list, there are options to view Full Details, Edit or Share. When you click on either Edit or Full Details, a pop-up window opens on the right of the screen. This window can only be closed by clicking on the x to close pane. However, the Share pop-up window and the 3 dot menu have light dismiss functionality and can be closed just by clicking back into the main list. It would be more intuitive to users if all pop-up windows and menus had the light dismiss functionality, to close simply by clicking…

  13. Add an Unselect all citation button to the Leganto userface

An Unselect All citations button is needed. There are currently 2 ways to unselect citations which you have edited:

    • Use the 'Select all' checkbox, which then changes to 'Deselect all'.
    • Close the actions bar using the X, which also clears the selection.

If you have moved one or more citations up or down the list, it is very easy to forget to unselect a citation, before starting to select another citation to move it. It should not be necessary to have to close the actions bar between actions. An Unselect All button is a feature which instructors are familiar with…

  14. Provide accurate Citation Type data in Purchase Requests

The purchase request records created by the new Purchase Request Workflow introduced in June 2026 include the requestor's choice of physical or electronic format. But they may not accurately reflect the choice of Citation Type made in Leganto. This is because the resulting Purchase Request has only two Citation Types: Book and Journal. If the submitted request is for one of those two types, then they are accurately reflected in the Purchase Request processed by Acquisitions staff. But if any other Citation Type is selected in Leganto, such as an article, video, or music score, it is not accurately reflected…

  15. Improve "Leganto identify deleted eresources" job in Alma by displaying provider information from where the resource has been deleted, pres

Whilst it is great to have the new "Leganto identify deleted eresources" job as a tool to highlight such deletes, the report should detail provider information from where the resource has been deleted and if the citation possesses any other inventory. At the moment, this report details:
    - citation tile
    - portfolio ID (which is no longer relevant as it will have been deleted once the report is generated)
    - course code
    - reading list ID
    - reading list name
    - citation ID

This means that there is a need to investigate each line in the report to see if:…

  16. Clicking on 'Full details' should take you directly to the 'Details' tab

When clicking on 'Full details', you are directed to the 'Links and availability' tab, whereas you should be taken directly to the 'Details' tab AND not have to click on 'More item details' once in the Details tab.

When clicking on 'View online', you are taken to the 'Links and availability' tab (which makes sense), so one would expect that clicking on 'Full details' would take you to the 'Details' tab. Most likely, this is what users want when selecting 'Full details' instead of actually clicking on the link.

  17. Reset Copyright status when a file is uploaded.

When a citation is for a physical book from our collection – the copyright status is defaulted to “not required” However, if the instructor later decides to upload a file – the copyright status does not change/recalculate - it should! It could potentially violate Fair Dealing/copyright permissions.

  19. Librarians' filter for 'null' tags on Alma and Leganto

A lot of the libraries here use the library-internal tags to set stages in the life-cycle of citations on a reading list. However, it is not possible currently to filter - either on Alma or Leganto - to citations with no tags. It would be great if it were possible for Librarians to filter for items with no tags on Alma and Leganto, which would therefore probably need some library intervention of some sort.

  20. Request for Improvement in APA 7 Reference Export: Option to Exclude URLs

When using the APA 7 reference export function, the system includes source links (URLs) by default. We suggest adding a configuration option that allows users to exclude these links and export only the text of the bibliographic reference.

This functionality would significantly optimize the bibliographic management that instructors perform when recording references directly in their syllabi. Currently, due to institutional regulations requiring that references not include links, instructors must manually remove URLs one by one, creating an unnecessary workload.
