1. Shareable link function in the Leganto file viewer

   In the Leganto PDF viewer there is no option to create a shareable link to the citation.

   Problem: The educator or another student wants to share a link direct to the viewer (e.g. Hi students, add your comments on this file), they can only get the URL from the browser address bar. This URL does not support SAML authentication. They do not understand the implications of doing this, and will not go back to the other tab to get a shareable link - indeed they may have closed the other tab.

   1. User may end up at the Leganto authentication page which is not for SSO users (when pasted into a private browser tab), or
   2. User may at first end up looking at Leganto "My Lists", but then not being passed to the file viewer, or its citation.
   3. User may experience item 2, then use the link again and see the file viewer, BUT, they are not shown the copyright statement which is presented from the citation/list "View PDF" link.

   Suggestion: Provide a "create shareable link" feature in the file viewer page. The create shareable link should operate the same way as it does in the citation view - popping up a dialog box with the option to copy it, AND, it should use the citation URL (with SAML option in our case), not the file viewer URL.

   This is not foolproof but would at least result in a smoother experience for the user and would show the copyright statement.

2. Broken link/problem files resolution inside NUI

   I see there is consultation arising from NERS results about the broken link report emails (to library, an alert that a report has been made and to users, a resolution notice).

   It made me think there is an opportunity in the new UI to streamline the link/file fixing process.

   • When a library team member is signed in to Leganto could broken links/problem file reports be indicated in the notifications area to identify affected lists - not just the assigned librarian, but any library team member with course reserves roles?
   • Could an affected citation have a indicator appear to identify which citation and which link/file is the culprit - in the list view, and in the Links/Availability tab?
   • Could we fix it from within Leganto (edit the metadata or upload a new file) without forcing us to hunt around in Alma for it too. We almost inevitably will check it in Leganto anyway and not just rely on how it looks on the Alma side. Afterall, the broken link report was made from in Leganto and maybe there is additional context for why the user reported it as broken, that is not obvious in Alma. We should be able to dismiss the alert from within Leganto thereby triggering the proposed email to the user who reported the problem.

   It would cut down the jumping between interfaces and minimise the risk of neglecting to remove the alert which can only be done on the Alma side.
   Our faculty librarians fix links in Leganto, but they only work on course reserves in Alma sporadically - like after rollovers.

   They like being able to "Set Complete" in Leganto - I think they would also like "Remove problem file/link alert" to be there.

3. More file type options for Reading List bulk export

   At the moment it's possible to bulk export Reading Lists by running the job called 'Reading List Bulk Update' and selecting 'Export to PDF'.

   Would be beneficial if we can export to other types such as .lgn or .ris. As those files would serve better as 'baclups' and can also be imported back into Leganto

4. Option to associate multiple courses for instructor rollover

   Currently, instructors can only associate more than one course to a list after the list has been initially rolled over. To improve this, please add an option to associate multiple courses before the list is rolled over. This is available in the course loader integration for rollovers, so it should be available for instructor rollovers as well. 6. Public annotations toggle - change default to 'off'

   When allowcitationpublic_annotation = true the toggle 'Public Annotations on/off' is displayed (good).
   Unfortunately it's also set to 'on' by default which makes plublic annotations by students possible without the list creator intending this (not good).

   Features like this should be opt-in, not activated by default.
   We are asking for the default setting to be changed to 'off'.

7. find list setting in new UI

   Find list settings allow librarians to customize the basic and advanced search interfaces in Leganto but it is not available in the new UI. It would be very useful to replicate this function in the new UI interface.

8. Multi-site list alerts for print items

   We have 7 physical locations 6 of which have print items. We want to set up Leganto to automatically complete physical inventory when added by an instructor as we do not have a "course reserve" workflow or short loan process. In other words, if an instructor adds print to their reading list we are happy that it can be accessed by the students on the open shelves.

   However, we are aware that instructors could add physical inventory that is located at one site for a course that is being delivered at another. We do not do inter-site lending even between the 4 sites at London for reasons of cost and administration. What we would like is for an alert to be generated if an instructor from one site adds physical inventory from another site to their reading list. That way we can check only those items where the students would not be able to access the item.

   Currently it's configured that or the field "Chapters" or the field "Pages from - Pages to" is mandatory.

10. Rename citation file after upload

    Currently the only way to change a citation file name is by downloading, renaming, and then reuploading renamed file, after deleting previous version. It would save a lot of time to be able to edit the file name directly in Alma, without having to download and reupload when using a specific name file convention.

    The team that scans and uploads files is different to the reading list processing team and the file needs to be named correctly at a later stage after it's been uploaded. We also receive resource sharing files from partner libraries where we can't control how the file is named and need to rename the file after it is received.

    The naming file convention is important to internal processes and for compliance. The ability to rename the file directly in the system would be helpful in streamlining our processes and creating a more efficient working environment.

11. Leganto “Remove from my list” should not unenroll students from the Alma course (add hide only / disable options)

    Don’t unenroll students when they click “Remove from my list” on course‑assigned lists

    In Leganto, “Remove from my list” on a course‑assigned list published to “Course Students” unenrolls the student from the Alma course (by design; not configurable).
    After that, students no longer see the list; the only way back is to access Leganto via the LMS LTI object, which re‑enrolls them.
    This behavior is counter‑intuitive (looks like “hide” but performs enrollment changes) and creates access gaps and support overhead.
    Current workaround is just renaming the label, which doesn’t fix the risk.
    Request: Add configuration for course‑assigned lists: Hide‑only, or Disable the action; optionally require confirmation if unenrollment is kept.
    Provide separate labels/tooltips for self‑added vs. course‑assigned lists.

12. Add ability to sort/filter citations by date created/modified in Leganto

    In Alma we can sort and filter citations on a reading list by date but it isn't currently possible to do this in Leganto.

    We only check new citations on reading lists when reviewing, and use the Leganto interface to do our checks. This means staff have to sort and filter the list in Alma and then click "View in Leganto" one at a time, which isn’t an efficient use of staff time and can be frustrating on long lists with many new citations.

    We would like the option to view the citations on a list by date last modified or created, and the option to filter the citations by date last modified.

    We wouldn’t want this to be a permanent re-organisation of the reading list but instead a temporary view for library staff. We also wouldn’t need citations to appear in their respective sections.

    In Alma we can sort and filter citations on a reading list by date but it isn't currently possible to do this in Leganto.

    We only check new citations on reading lists when reviewing, and use the Leganto interface to do our checks. 13. Publish_default_mode needs to developed to allow different processes dependent on set criteria

    Situation - Currently we are trying to make the majority of our reading lists open access. However, due to departmental and copyright issues. We cant make all lists open access. Therefore, we currently have Publishdefaultmode set to All Students Full. Which means staff manually run sets on a daily basis to find readings lists that have been published and are not from two specific academic departments and run a bulk reading list job to change them to All Students Full, Anyone Restricted.
    
    Solution. We would prefer that the Publishdefaultmode is enhanced to publish lists with different publication status dependent on their academic department, processing department and course year. So that some list can be set to open access, whereas some are kept as All Students Full.
    
    We would also ask for a reading list safe list, so that lists added to a staff list were not suddenly changed open access, as the acquisitions are aware of a specific copyright issue on the list.

14. More control over the description field for rollover lists

    Some of our institutions have used the list description field to write year-specific information. This is an issue when the list is rolled over and the information for the previous semester is still visible.

    We would want to have more control over the description field, especially when it comes to rolled over lists but not only. Therefore we would like the possibility to choose in the rollover setup if the description field should be copied to the new list or not, and in addition the possibility to run a bulk job to delete the content of the description field on existing lists.

15. Improved analytics reporting for new LTI functionality

    Since upgrading to the new v1.3 of the LTI we are encouraging instructors to make use of the new functionality in the VLE such as embedding citation metadata or links to specific parts of reading lists.

    Anecdotally we know that our instructors are using and enjoying these new features. However, we'd like to be able report on and demonstrate the impact of this.

    Could the Student Usage area of analytics be developed to be able to report on how many click throughs from, for example, embedded citations or embedded links there are from VLE to Leganto?

    There may be additional events that other institutions may want to capture and report on.

    This may also be of specific interest to the Leganto Engagement Team within Ex Libris?

    The NERS 2022 enhancement #7744 delivered in Jan 2023 allowed individual courses in Alma to be marked as not requiring a reading list. However it did not allow for any bulk method of marking courses as not requiring reading lists.

    It would be a distinct advantage for good and accurate administration of course details to allow for bulk methods of marking courses appearing in Alma as not requiring reading lists.

    This could be achieved in multiple ways for example via bulk options from the Courses search, or via the Course Bulk Update, but the need is to be able to mark courses as not requiring reading lists in bulk to make best use of the NERS feature - which can then be used to more accurate measure and monitor how many courses have lists.

19. When creating a new list, provide sort options for numbered templates

    Some instructors want to create lists that show the most recent content first, so that their students can easily access the current week’s resources. For example, in a 12-week semester, they divide the list into sections by week and list them in reverse order (i.e. Week 12, Week 11, Week 10, etc.). They release each section at the start of the corresponding week, so that students can focus on the relevant content.

    However, currently there is no easy way to create such a list using a numbered template. The default order for the numbered template is ascending (i.e. Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, etc.) and the instructor has to manually change the order of the sections if they want to reverse it, which they can only do after the list is created. This is a tedious and time-consuming process that could be simplified.

    Adding a sort order option for numbered templates would address this issue. This option would allow the instructor to choose whether they want to use the ascending or the descending order for the sections. This would make it easier for the instructor to create a list that shows the most recent content first and save them a lot of hassle.     Some instructors want to create lists that show the most recent content first, so that their students can easily access the current week’s resources. 20. In Analytics (Leganto Student Usage subject area), possibility to query Statistical Category X fields under Student Details

    (initially filled by the « Statistical Category X » fields from the Users subject area).

    Right now, to get data about the usage of a reading list by students, we need to query the fields which are only available under the dimension « Student details » of the « Leganto student usage » subject area. Those fields are filled only after signing the Ex-Libris form « Leganto student success measurements service ».
    It would be interesting that the statistical category fields only could be filled in order to extract statistical analyses without having to know the students identity. Therefore it would not be necessary to fill the form.
