How can we improve Primo?

  1. Availability status for webhooks

    The availability status for Primo Search Webhook records (such as for Newsbank) is always "Check for available services." Our users are accustomed to seeing this status when materials are not available full text online, and we would like the availability status to better indicate that full text is available. It would be great if the default display could be changed to "Available online" for these materials or if we had the ability to modify the display only for webhooks.

  2. Show exact number of results when browsing instead of 20+

    When browsing subjects in Primo, if a result has more than 20 results attached to a single subject entry, that subject displays "20+ records" instead of a specific number, which is what Primo shows for any total less than 20. This happens because Primo uses the Alma browse functionality, but this is not as informative to users as it should be. Instead, users have to click the heading before they can see the exact count of associated records.

  3. Physical items sort routine by date - enable I J K descending, but A B C ascending

    Hi
    We're running into a problem with the Physical items sort routine - Sort according to date.

    For journals, we want to sort the latest item on top, this works correctly with
    Sort according to chronology I/U/K (year/month/day) - Descending

    BUT
    The same sort routine is also used for multi volume monographs.
    We found out that if we only fill out conditions for Chronology I J K, but those fields are empty, the barcode gets used for sorting.
    Which leads to wrong sorts.

    So we had to add
    Enumeration A, B, C as a condition.

  5. Switching number of titles per page should not jump to top of page

    Hi

    At the moment, the switch for to more titles per page is only possible at the bottom of a page

    But when I do this, I get moved back to the top of the page. This is bad UX. My position on the page should not change.

    I'm suggesting an out of the box configuration option to highlight the required fields in the citation linker. I have adjusted the text, to let our users know that an identifier is required but the text can easily be missed. We recently migrated to Alma/Primo VE and when we had 360/Summon, we were able to highlight the required fields in the citation linker. I am investigating CSS customization options.

  10. Support html in GES public notes in How to Get it section

    We are considering moving a couple of our general electronic services from the "Links" section to the "How to Get it" section. However HTML tags in the public note are not recognised when we change it from Links to How to Get It.

    I would have expected that public notes should always support HTML tags as they are exposed publicly via Primo.

  11. Field for MeSH-terms in CDI bib records to make it possible to search in advanced search

    MeSH-terms, primarily from PubMed, in CDI bib records are mixed with other subjects. Create a subject field for MeSH-terms and make them posisble to search via advanced search.

    In Primo VE, it should be possible for users to change pickup locations for requested items after the request has been made.

  13. Default Sortting option for the historic loans

    When opening the historic loans tab , the "Sort by" dropdown default value is empty and the results are not sorted.
    So historic loans details are shown at random.
    Only when the user selects the desired "Sort by" value as "Returned date - newest", the results will sort.

    Please make the default option "Returned date - newest" for the historic loans.
    Then users can immediately check the book with the latest return date.

  14. Index local in Advanced search

    We have a local index with a closed list of values and we would like to present only this list of values to users doing an advanced search.

    An example with the local index "Original language" based on the 905 field. This field contains three possible values: Yes, No, Bilingual.

    We would like for an advanced search, when the user chooses the Original Language index, to present the closed list that shows three possible values: Yes No Bilingual

  15. Show unnormalized facet Academic Department in PRIMO VE

    We want the PRIMO VE shows the Facet as an unnormalized text as we see in ALMA.

    It only displays the initial letter of each word in uppercase and removes hyphens and other punctuation marks.

    For example in ALMA we see a Academic department "FCS- Nutrició" and in the Primo VE now we see as "Fcs Nutrició"

  16. Allow A-Z facet to have both title and alternative title

    Use case: Users will look for databases and journals by the name they know, which often doesn't match the official title in the 245 field. We would like the ability to add more than one entry to the atoz facet so that users can find items by both the title and alternative title.

    Example:
    245 Education Database - under E
    246 Proquest Education Database - under P

    This would improve the user experience and findability for our subscription resources.

  17. Suppress ellipsis in journals holdings summary

    When journals holdings are displayed in Primo VE, if the holding record has the field 866 (configured in Discovery> Holdings Display Configuration), is shown three points (ellipsis) that lead the user to think that we are still receiving issues but really the journal is not open. this.

    However, when the holdings record does not have this 866 field, it does not display the three dots.

  18. View full record in results view

    The current behaviour to move from search results to exploring a record is to open a pop up to view the full record.
    This takes the user away from the results set they are working with.
    There is feedback that some users dislike pop ups.
    We have also observed that many users open full records in a new tab in order to have records of interest open in tabs to go explore in detail later whilst continuing to work with the search results.

  19. Ability to search non-english (especially Scandinavian) characters in local data and CDI data in a consistent way

    A growing number of Central Discovery Index (CDI) sources contain the original non-english characters for specific languages, e.g. Scandinavian (Danish, Norwegian, Swedish) letters such as æ,ä, ø, ö and å. Searching the original Scandinavian letters works for both local and CDI data. However, searching non-English letters are cumbersome for foreign users. There are different ways to anglicize these characters. The traditional Scandinavian way is to use a "folded variant": "ä" -> "ae", "ö" -> "oe", etc. However, this only works for local data (institution zone).   20. Request in PRIMO VE - Terms of Use (TOU) selection appears unnecessarily
