  1. Add "Reported" Filter to the Borrowing Side of Rapido

    We use the Reported filter in Lending lets us filter between items that have been printed (Reported=Yes) and requests that have not been printed (Reported=No). We use this to make sets to print pull slips in Lending without accidently reprinting anything.

    We would like this in Borrowing to help us with our return label Sets. We could then have one Set for items that have been returned and need a shipping label printed.   2. Item set to unavailable as soon as requested via Rapido

    Currently, an item linked to a lending request is only set to unavailable after it has been shipped. When the lending request still has status Being processed, the linked item remains available.
    Consequently, when several requests placed in a short time-frame on the same title are placed, the algorithm attributes all of them to the same lending library, while copies from other libraries are available.

    If the item would be made unavailable as soon as it is requested, following requests would calculate different partners for which the items are available. Requests on the same title would then be better dispatched…

  3. Display Rapido partner status accurately on the partner record

    Currently, when a Rapido partner is manually added to the rota for a borrowing request, the partner record status is displayed as ‘Active’ even when the partner is temporarily inactive for lending. This can be confusing for staff members who are responsible for adding partners to the rota and can result in more time being spent mediating a request than is ideal. To address this issue, the partner status should be displayed as ‘Inactive’ during the period when the Rapido partner is temporarily inactive for lending.   4. Borrowing mediation rule to consider Item Policy/TOUs

    Rapido currently considers a title available for request if it is part of a configured participating set.

    When a borrowing mediation rule is configured with parameter ownership + availability, borrowing requests are intercepted if the IZ owns the title and that its related item is available. The problem is that requests are intercepted even when items do not have a loanable policy in the IZ in question (e.g. on-site use only). Indeed, the availability parameter of the rule considers "item in place", and not the presence of an item in any of the Rapido participating sets.

  5. Title sort - skip character!

    PLEASE use skip character in the title sort. It's entirely disconcerting to have any application utilizing bibliographic data ignore it!

  6. Add "additional format" question to all patron forms

    There is currently a checkbox titled "Allow other format" under "Request attributes" in Rapido to indicate whether a patron will accept a format other than the one requested. This checkbox is currently used only when staff are placing requests on behalf of a patron, but it would be useful to have this information for all requests. Currently, if a patron requests an ebook and we are unable to get it we have to email them to find out if they can take a physical version.   7. Add item title to ship item physically screen

    When shipping an item physically from the lending request, the only identifier on the shipping item screen is the External ID. Please add the request title to this screen so the staff member processing the request can do a final check that the book they're about to ship/scan is the correct one for the request.   8. Patron wants to receive particular material type through Rapido

    Patrons select sometimes a particular material type, e.g. an audio book in our Primo VE. With Rapido, if patrons request their preferred media, e.g. the audio book of a title, the Rapido lending request is sometimes placed on a different material type, e.g. a physical book. This is not what patrons expect.

    The lending library cannot not know which format the patron wants, and therefore sends a wrong document to the pickup library.

  9. Make presence or absence of Blank ILL form configurable

    Currently, the Blank ILL form can only be toggled on or off. Please make the presence or absence of the Blank ILL form configurable. This requires two things. 1) Incorporate Blank ILL form into Display Logic Rules. For example, libraries would like to be able to hide this form from certain user groups. 2) Much like the Rapido tiles, allow us to show or hide the physical or digital aspects of the Blank ILL form.     Allow patron to delete pdf from Primo after downloading. This helps patrons manage very large lists of received pdfs. Some of our patrons are used to being able to delete received pdfs after downloading them locally, since this functionality was available in Illiad.

  11. Provide email preview when drafting patron communications

    I’d like to be able to see the complete email message when sending a patron query email, cancellation email, et cetera. It would be easier to write a better “message” if you could see the message section in the complete context of the email.

  12. Limits for RapidILL scan from print requests

    Since all Rapido scan requests are converted to RapidILL requests and thus have a 24-hour service commitment, we’ve been noticing an unmanageable workload on Mondays with requests coming in over the weekends. Prior to dropping OCLC we could balance our workload by doing the urgent requests first and the less urgent requests another day, but now all of our most time-consuming requests are also urgent.
    Possible solution: Limiting the number of scan from print requests that can be assigned to one library at one time.

  13. Notifications for RapidILL communication failures

    It should be immediately clear if a Rapid request is not updated - not just in an “update failed” note on the request itself, which the Rapido user is no longer looking at by the time the Rapid communication error occurs. One way this could be achieved is by allowing Rapido users to opt into popup notifications that display and have to be closed whenever there's a communication issue with Rapid. We are potentially open to other approaches for addressing this issue as well as long as they provide an obvious notification every time a Rapid communication issue occurs.

  14. External ID number should change if the partner library changes

    Rapido keeps the old ILL number (External ID) when a borrowing request is not filled and moves on to another partner. The Ext ID number should be unique between a pair of partners. Right now you can have a Rapido request with a RapidILL number, a British Library request with a RapidILL number etc. Because each partner type has a different set of conditions (ex. allowance of renewals), each time you have a different type of partner, there should be a new Ext ID number.

  15. Record all request metadata changes in History tab

    When we change a field in a request, that change should always be tracked in the History tab. For example, we occasionally have to change one of the standard identifiers (OCLC, ISBN, ISSN) in a request in order to match it to potential lenders. Saving that information in the History tab would allow us to check a) what the original requestor provided and b) what we’ve already tried using.

  16. Add additional fields to Rapido request form for physical requests

    When patrons request odd editions of items, we’re left wondering whether that’s what they meant. Do they really want the British edition for some reason, or is that just what they found first? Do they really want the German language edition of this graphic novel? We would love the ability to add fields for “this edition only” and “this language only” added to the Rapido request forms for physical requests. Additionally, these could be customizable fields that each library could give text to and add to the form. Asking for additional information from the patron up front would lead to…

  17. Bulk upload of resource sharing partners

    Occasionally, we need to add a large number of libraries as resource sharing partners in Alma – for instance, when we partner with consortia. In order to make this work more efficient, we would like to be able to add resource sharing partners by uploading a spreadsheet that includes the needed partner metadata. This would keep us from needing to add partners one by one in the Alma interface.

  18. Add geographical location of libraries to Analytics Reports

    We are talking more and more about international lending, but it’s not possible to create an Alma Analytics report using partners’ geographic locations. (RapidILL, for example, includes the partner library’s state in their statistical reports). It would be useful to know how much material is supplied by international partners, and how much we lend internationally.

  19. Add search by lender

    Sometimes we want to view all requests that have been sent to a particular lender. Examples of times we’d like to do this are if we’re troubleshooting something, or if the request is in a language with non-Roman characters and it’s easier to search by lender than it is to search by title. While it’s possible to narrow down requests by lender using the facet, we have many lenders and the way their names are listed is not always standard (i.e. University of California - Berkeley vs. The University of Hong Kong).   20. Add the ability to cancel rejected requests

    Requests that are rejected by partner have most of the same options as other requests, but they are missing the option to cancel the request. We would like cancel to appear as an option for rejected requests.
