  1. Send messages to any partner directly from request

We would like to send messages to any partner directly from a request. Currently, this is not possible with RapidILL/RapidR or email partners.

  2. Add the ability to cancel rejected requests

Requests that are rejected by partner have most of the same options as other requests, but they are missing the option to cancel the request. We would like cancel to appear as an option for rejected requests.

  3. Field on Borrowing Request form for non-Rapido lending library's identifier (TN number ILL number, etc.)

Idea: Create a field on the borrowing request form for the "Lender's Identifier". This field would either map from an ISO Illiad request (or other request), or be keyed in by the borrower when receiving or externally ordering a physical item. The lender's identifier in these cases would be the "Illiad TN number" or "OCLC Request ID" as a couple of examples. This field would also appear in the receive workflow.
It would also be beneficial to have this field included on the Resource Sharing Return Slip Letter in case the lender's paperwork goes missing. This will help facilitate a…

  4. Display Rapido partner status accurately on the partner record

Currently, when a Rapido partner is manually added to the rota for a borrowing request, the partner record status is displayed as ‘Active’ even when the partner is temporarily inactive for lending. This can be confusing for staff members who are responsible for adding partners to the rota and can result in more time being spent mediating a request than is ideal. To address this issue, the partner status should be displayed as ‘Inactive’ during the period when the Rapido partner is temporarily inactive for lending. This will help ensure that staff members only send requests to active partners and…

  5. Multiple Letter/Notice Versions and Ability to Associate to Institution or Pod by Location

Our institution has two Rapido fulfillment scenarios.

    1. Pick from shelf to lend material to a library on our consortial courier route.

    2. Pick from shelf and 'band' (or removable label) and ship via postal mail to requesting out-of-state libraries.

Our student workers do our pick from shelf and sorting, so need to know from the pick from shelf slip whether the item goes into the courier bin or to the area of the library that handles shipping.

It would be a pretty bad error for an item intended for a distant library to land in the courier bin. Less so (though …

  6. Search by multiple fields at once on Rapido request list

We should be able to search by multiple fields at once on a given Rapido request list -- e.g., by title and by requester on the Borrowing Requests list.

  7. Ability to change barcode scanned items in a lending request.

We would like the ability to change the scanned item if the wrong item that is scanned in to fulfill the request is allocated to the wrong request.

  8. Add more fields to the right pane quick edit 'Request form (as filled by requester)' in Rapido

In Rapido, the 'Request form (as filled by requester)' section on the right pane has some great features. It allows staff to quickly access and edit some of the request form fields. However, certain crucial fields are missing from this section, limiting its effectiveness.

    Current benefits:
    1. Hovering over a field shows a tooltip containing its complete contents. This means staff don't have to open the request to edit, navigate to the field and use the across arrow on the text field to slowly read its full contents. Sometimes important information is missed if this step isn’t taken.
    2. Staff…

  9. Add item title to ship item physically screen

When shipping an item physically from the lending request, the only identifier on the shipping item screen is the External ID. Please add the request title to this screen so the staff member processing the request can do a final check that the book they're about to ship/scan is the correct one for the request. See screenshot.

  10. Change a request from digital to physical and vice versa once received

Sometimes a lender supplies an entire book as an ebook instead of a print book or sends the physical book when we requested a chapter and it’s not always caught before we receive it. We would like a way to change a received request from digital to physical and vice versa.

  11. Record all request metadata changes in History tab

When we change a field in a request, that change should always be tracked in the History tab. For example, we occasionally have to change one of the standard identifiers (OCLC, ISBN, ISSN) in a request in order to match it to potential lenders. Saving that information in the History tab would allow us to check a) what the original requestor provided and b) what we’ve already tried using.

  12. Bulk upload of resource sharing partners

Occasionally, we need to add a large number of libraries as resource sharing partners in Alma – for instance, when we partner with consortia. In order to make this work more efficient, we would like to be able to add resource sharing partners by uploading a spreadsheet that includes the needed partner metadata. This would keep us from needing to add partners one by one in the Alma interface.

  13. Add "Reported" Filter to the Borrowing Side of Rapido

We use the Reported filter in Lending lets us filter between items that have been printed (Reported=Yes) and requests that have not been printed (Reported=No). We use this to make sets to print pull slips in Lending without accidently reprinting anything.

We would like this in Borrowing to help us with our return label Sets. We could then have one Set for items that have been returned and need a shipping label printed. Currently we have to have multiple Sets and it is confusing trying to figure out which items have been printed and shipped and items that need a…

  14. Stacking requests functionality for scanning items

We will occasionally receive multiple digitization requests from the same item from the same school or from different schools. The issue is that Alma only writes one request to the pick from shelf at a time. This would work for physical requests, but for digital scan requests, its not the most efficient workflow.

For example we receive two requests, one for chapter 2 and one for chapter 3 - whether they go to the same or different schools is not relevant.

    The current workflow is:
    a. request writes to pick from shelf
    b. staff retrieves item from the shelf
    c.…

  15. Convert to Resource Sharing should not be an option on the pick from shelf, when the item is a lending request from another school.

Convert to Resource Sharing should not be an option on the pick from shelf, when the item is a lending request from another school.

As we understand it, "Ship Digitally" requests should be Cancelled and "Patron digitization requests" should be Converted. However, requests in the pick from shelf lists don't show this distinction and both "Cancel" and "Convert" are options in the row action. To minimize confusion, we would prefer to gray out or hide the "Convert" option for a Ship Digitally? request.

We've been telling staff to try to Convert first, and if they get an error, then go…

Rapido allows us to search by article title, but not book chapter title. We would like to be able to search by book chapter title as well.

  17. Automatically repopulate bibliographic data when changing standard number

Sometimes when we’re changing an ISBN or OCLC number, we’re changing editions - from ebook to print book, from international edition to local edition, etc. We know Rapido is pulling metadata from somewhere when those numbers change because the cover image of books change. It would be helpful if the system also changed the other standard bibliographic data - edition, place of publication, publisher, and year - based on the new ISBN. This ensures that we’re sending consistent information to our lenders without having to waste time inputting all that data ourselves.

  18. Notifications for RapidILL communication failures

It should be immediately clear if a Rapid request is not updated - not just in an “update failed” note on the request itself, which the Rapido user is no longer looking at by the time the Rapid communication error occurs. One way this could be achieved is by allowing Rapido users to opt into popup notifications that display and have to be closed whenever there's a communication issue with Rapid. We are potentially open to other approaches for addressing this issue as well as long as they provide an obvious notification every time a Rapid communication issue occurs.

  19. Provide email preview when drafting patron communications

I’d like to be able to see the complete email message when sending a patron query email, cancellation email, et cetera. It would be easier to write a better “message” if you could see the message section in the complete context of the email.

  20. Make requests in status “expired” act like any other request with the same list of actions

Requests that have ended up with the status and “expired” end up in the “closed” sets, but we still need to work with them. We don’t want the request to be cancelled and the patron to be notified automatically because there still might be something we can do with them. We might find an additional email partner to send one of these requests to that the system doesn’t know about, we might find a better ISBN or OCLC number to send it out on, or we might find that the request is the wrong type and we need to change…
