Borrowing requests: additional renew option for staff users
In our network, onsite loans can be renewed an undefined number of times for a maximum renewal period. This option is not available with Rapido. The maximum renewal period is useful as SLSP offers auto-renewal and at the same time doesn’t want to punish patrons renewing themselves.
In Rapido, a document can only be renewed a fixed number of times. The number of times a document can be renewed also counts patron-driven renewals. This often shortens the maximum loan period when renewal is done too early.
Our requirement is: staff users should be able to renew Rapido loans even if the maximum number of renewals has been reached. This should always be done in consultation with the lending library.
I've discussed this idea thoroughly with Aronne. Per our discussion it is understood that the proposed solution is not the ideal outcome. It could mean that the renewal limit in pods would not have meaning. Existing pod terms of loan periods and number of renewals can be modified if needed to support the user needs of longer loans.

Patrons don't understand why there is a difference between Fulfillment Loans and Rapido Loans. They are used to extending the loan period before a longer absence, even if the due date has not yet been reached. In theory, this is also possible with Rapido Loans, but patrons will lose one renewal.
