  1. Statistics section on Esploro Research Portal for subunits

With the new Esploro organizational tree is now possible to display also on subunit webpages the statistics section with metrics related to downloads and views of Esploro records.
In case of organizations with 3 levels (for example in a multi-institution repository where every single institution has itself faculties or institutes as subunits) the metrics are correctly displayed at the parent and at the last sub-unit level, but the middle levels doesn’t display the sum of their sub-units.
In the described scenario this would help to highlight the impact of the research of the single participating institutions.

  2. Notification for Staff when asset is self-deposited

When a researcher uses the self-deposit method, our staff would like to be notified that there is a deposit ready for checking. The only way to do this is to go to the task list and go to unassigned and then filter out to researcher deposited. This is not obvious to the staff. This leads to self deposited deposits being left for a year without realizing that no one has looked at it.

It would be great to either create a new widget or even send an email to designated staff to have any new deposits to stand out!

  3. Projects URL should be a friendly URL

When you add a Project URL to a project (in the top section, not as a link) there is no option for a title to display instead of the url itself. Depending on the URL, this can look very messy.
We would like the ability to add a title, similar to when adding a link.
E.g. from our sandbox (excuse the crazy colours!) https://scu-researchmanagement-psb.esploro.exlibrisgroup.com/esploro/project/8256205480002368

  4. Esploro Analytics - eISSN and ISSN in separated fields in Esploro Analytics Analysis

In Esploro, a research asset record does provide 2 fields for eISSN and ISSN.
This useful distinction seems to be lost in Analytics, where ISSN single field contains both values, separated by semicolon, with no way to disambiguate between them.
The same happens with eISBN and ISBN.
Please keep Esploro Analytics consistent with Esploro and provide fields for eISSN, ISSN, eISBN, ISBN.
It's not only a matter of consistency and granularity. We are trying to make reports/simulation for ANVUR (National Evaluation of Researchers) and we need this distinction.

  5. Impact Idea 6: Integration of Research Activity Identifier (RAiD)

Integrate RAiD as a persistent identifier for research Projects and certain activities. RAiD will align with the European Open Science Cloud infrastructure, enhancing the visibility and traceability of research activities. This integration will support more robust Project identification and linking across various platforms.

  6. Impact Idea 5: Moderation/Approval Step

Introduce a moderation step or approval process before Projects are made public. This step will ensure content quality and accuracy, maintaining high standards for Project visibility and reducing the likelihood of errors or inappropriate content being published.

  7. Impact Idea 4: Audit Trail for Project Edits

Implement an audit trail to track edits and deletions for Projects. This feature will enhance accountability and ensure that all changes are documented, helping to prevent unauthorized modifications or deletions by 'team members' leaving the university under less favorable conditions. It will also support teamwork by addressing trust issues in collaborative environments.

  8. Impact Idea 3: Extra Research Topics/Subjects

Expand the range of research topics and subjects within Esploro Projects by adding options for ANZSRC Socio-economic Objectives (Why), ANZSRC Fields of Research (What/How), and Sustainable Development Goals. We propose including up to three Fields of Research (FoRs), three Socio-economic Objectives (SEOs), and three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This enhancement will improve project categorization, aligning better with global research standards and facilitating more effective tracking and reporting of research impact.

  9. Impact Idea 2: Association of Projects with More Entities

Enable Projects to be linked with additional entities, such as Activities, Media mentions, and Resources to Projects. This will enhance the depth of project information and make it easier to track various related aspects of research activities. Improved association with these entities will provide a more comprehensive view of each project's impact.

  10. Impact Idea 1: Date Field for Added Files & Links

Incorporate a date field for files and links added to a project in Esploro. This feature will be crucial for tracking the timeline of project-related documents, such as appreciation emails, blog posts, or reports.

As we begin collecting a 'paper trail' of engagement leading to societal impact, and potentially in many future cases, academics will need to add information to their projects retrospectively. For supporting evidence that is temporarily or not publicly available (e.g., emailed testimonials or government websites), it is best practice to capture and store these locally, preferably in Esploro.

The date field will help document when the…

  11. Enhance the Project Entity in Esploro to Store the Path to Societal Impact

We propose a series of feature enhancements for the Project Entity within Esploro. These features aim to boost functionality, streamline user experience, and enable the Project Entity to maintain a comprehensive 'paper trail' demonstrating societal impact.

Esploro’s Researcher Profiles can evolve into a robust platform for showcasing achievements and discovering funding opportunities. Beyond displaying automated publications, citations from Web of Science, altmetrics, awarded funding, student supervision, and press mentions, we envision integrating an SSO link to tailored funding opportunities in Pivot-RP profiles.

To drive engagement and inspire a "Monkey See, Monkey Do" effect, we propose adding an "Engagement & Impact"…

  12. Esploro - sword - Deposits - Integrate a Normalization Process based on a Normalization rule

We manged to create an integration profile for using SWORD to deposit assets from our CRIS to Esploro (
    https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/esploro/integrations/sword/ ).
We would like however to manipulate/normalize imported values we are importing, as we are used to do with Alma imports, where we can we create a Normalization Rule (NR), integrate it in a process and use it in an Import profile.
In Esploro we have NR, we have Processes, but still there is no way to integrate the process in the Sword integration profile / import process.
Please add the feature for addin a Normalization Process to the SWORD…

  13. Esploro - Primo VE - display the physical inventory for the Esploro records

Primo as discovery tool used to display physical inventory also for bib records originally related to electronic resources, using ISSN or ISBN as matching key. This makes sense and is consistent with the idea of discovery tool.
Surprisingly, this does not work with Primo VE and Esploro records.
If an Esploro record has a an ISBN matching a Physical Title in Alma, there is no GetIt tab allowing to place a request.
Please display instead the physical inventory for the Esploro records as well.

  14. Esploro - Backend BE - add advanced search field for Asset Date Submitted and Asset Date Updated

When reviewing in Esploro Back-end assets before approving and publishing them, we often need to look for Assets created or last updated on certain date.
This is not possible right now, since Date Created field is related to the publication, not the Esploro Asset. Analytics has a 24 hours delay and is not as flexible as the search.
Please index and allow to perform an advanced search also on Asset Date Created and Asset Date Updated fields.

  15. Provide Asset Update API Method

It would be useful in some circumstances to be able to Asset's via the API instead of manually through the administrative interface or the export, modify in Excel/CSV, and re-import.

  16. Expand asset type options for student deposit profile

For non-ETDs, there are limited options of asset types for Student Deposit Profiles - see image. There is no ability to create a form for a journal article. However, our students frequently publish and deposit journal articles. This will force to either do a manual mediated deposit for them, or they will need to ask a co-author to deposit for them. Please can you expand the asset types available for a student deposit form to allow for deposits of journal articles, reports etc. Thanks

  17. Display multiple SDG sources

Currently, the InCites integration allows for SDGs to be listed with the source of InCites (https://researchportal.scu.edu.au/esploro/outputs/991013141813602368) OR we can manually add SDGs via Esploro and they are listed with no source (e.g. https://researchportal.scu.edu.au/esploro/outputs/991013062209302368). We would like to see the ability to display BOTH manually added and imported SDGs.

For example, this same asset listed above from our live environment, I've added SDG 4, 8, 10 via the back end, but then it displays ONLY as 4,8,10 in the portal, overriding the SDG 3 from inCites: https://scu-researchmanagement-psb.esploro.exlibrisgroup.com/esploro/outputs/991013089213502368?institution=61SCU_INST

Ideally the source of the SDG could be shown similarly to…

  18. Improve functionality of ETD Degree Names table

Issue 1: Currently, ETD degree names must be manually entered individually into the table. There is no facility to upload a spreadsheet to populate the table. When repositories need to account for all relevant current degrees as well as past degrees for earlier theses uploaded, this list can be very long - we had 100.
Solution: allow for spreadsheet upload to populate table.

Issue 2: There is no apparent way to control where a new degree is added in the list. It does not add to the end of the current list, it is not alphabetical, it seems to insert…

  19. More flexibility in student works that are part of degree requirement

We need more flexibility in student works that are part of degree requirements (degree culminating publications). These are often thought of as ETDs (theses and dissertations). However, some degrees do not require a thesis or dissertation and instead have a a capstone or a case report. These are very different than a thesis/dissertation, but the only option for student work at the end of a degree are the ETD options. This means that a quite short case report is displaying as a dissertation - https://iro.uiowa.edu/esploro/outputs/9984560345602771

The ETD type is good because we want the advisors handled in the same manner…

  20. Ability to display thumbnail images of outputs wherever they are listed (e.g. on the Outputs tab of a Profile)

Currently, when a file has been loaded to an asset, the thumbnail shows in the repository view, but not the profile view.
Likewise, if the asset is listed as a related asset to a project, the thumbnail does not display.
We would like to see consistency so that the thumbnail is display anywhere there is a list of assets.

This is especially important for profiles as we are currently trying to encourage our creative academics to use their profiles and having a visual element would make them much more inclined to use them.
