← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Canadian Course Readings is an emerging platform for publications by independent Canadian publishers that are difficult to source electronically on other platforms.     LexNow confirmed on the agreement to develop a gateway from LexNow.io to the Alma Library Management System (Ex Libris). (CZ & CDI)

    As for timing, LexNow made commitments to our clients regarding developments, and they intend to honour them. LexNow is looking at the first half of 2026.

    In the meantime, LexNow will of course continue to provide you with regular Ms Excel exports of our titles (books and journals) to feed into your digital catalogues.

  11. Add separate CDI collections for British Standards Institute (BSI) Modules

    Please add separate CDI collections for the various subject modules they sell. Currently, there's only one CDI collection for the BSI Group platform: DBID: EOT. Libraries can subscribe to a subset of the standards so there needs to be CDI collections for all these subsets.

It is recommended to enhance these brief records by replacing them with more comprehensive bibliographic information.

    Hello,

    Can you please confirm what is the CZ Collection ID for the requested collection?

    There is one collection that may be what you mean (Collection ID: 61110974746497576), but its' average Bibliographic ranking is 73 which is considered fairly good.

    In any case, we do not receive Dewey Classification for this collection and many others, but we might be able to add LCSH.

    Medici.tv is an essential database for researchers in Music and Opera and Dance, and critical to many Humanities-based collections. The company offers marc records through OCLC worldshare collections, so they should be easy to obtain for adding to 360MARC, especially with metadata sharing agreements among discovery layer suppliers

  17. Add journal 'Art + Auction' from Ebsco

    The journal 'Art + Auction' is part of Ebsco's Art and Architecture Source, but because it's changed title and ISSN in the past, there is quite a bit of coverage that is not indexed in Primo, even though it's available on the platform.
    ExLibris explained as follows:
    "Art & Auction (ISSN 0197-1093) - covered up to 2013.
    Blouin Art + Auction (ISSN 2331-5342) - started from 2014 onwards.
    In Alma, and particularly in the Community Zone, it's common that the provider (EBSCO in this case) combines coverage for both ISSNs into a single title or portfolio, especially if the publisher…

    Hello,

    We do not receive discovery metadata from Ebsco.

    In order to obtain such metadata, we will need to establish a workflow with a new provider - the publisher of Art + Auction.

    Since the process for new providers is going through CERV, I have changed the status of this request and it will be prioritized by the Content Working Group.

    Please consider adding "Engineering Workbench" to the Alma CZ. This database used to be known as TechStreet but has merged with a different and new company and has a new interface and URL.
