← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  3. "Roper Center for Public Opinion Research" https://ropercenter.cornell.edu/

    Roper Center has an Alma Community collection records with no portfolios. Roper has their own catalog, with study-level metadata that can be crosswalked into Dublin Core if not fullblown MARC.
    Roper regularly add new studies to their collection, so dynamic feeds into Alma Community would be a great idea.

  4. Axiomatic Editions

    The journal Architectural design (0003-8504) has moved to Axiomatic Editions and they currently are not in the CZ. Could you please add them to the CZ?

  5. Add content: Design Research Society

    Please add content produced by the Design Research Society to the CDI, including conference proceedings, as available: https://dl.designresearchsociety.org/

    The existing content in CDI only appears to be available randomly piecemeal when individual records are in sources such as:
    • aggregators like Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), for example cdijndlportaoaindlsearchndlgojpR100000002I000003095796
    • institutional repositories like from University of South Australia, for example cdi    unisarepository9916828026101831 ; and the
    • Global Title Index from individual libraries, for example cdiglobaltitleindexcatalog_94607552.

  6. Perlego: Map regional indicators or create regional collections for KBs

    The current Perlego collection (YSPEL in 360KB) contains some titles that are not available in certain regions (including the United States). This results in CDI or 360 MARC Updates records for titles our students are not able to access, causing frustration and confusion.

    If there are geographical area indicators in the Perlego metadata that relate to where titles are (or are not) available, those indicators should get mapped in discovery so that only available titles are shown based on the customer location.

    Or else, make separate region-specific Perlego collections in the KBs, so that libraries can subscribe according to their…

  10. Open Access Journal - Quaderni di Dodis

    Hello,

    Please consider to add the content of Quaderni di Dodis, a Swiss academic series which intend to widen publication possibilities in the fields of contemporary history and foreign policy and to offer an attractive and easy way to publish for young academics.

    Currently, a portfolio exists in two e-collections, but the content is not indexed in the CDI, so it's not possible to find the articles in Primo.

    DergiPark Akademik is journal platform from Turkey and includes English or Turkish written academic journals from Turkish Societies and institutions.
