← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

  2. Add Infoteka collections migrating from East View to Alma CZ

    We received a notice from East View that "select electronic resources previously provided by East View Information Services are migrating to a new database platform," Infoteka (https://infoteka.com/). Access to the new platform went live on May 15, 2026 and access to affected resources will no longer be available from East View beginning August 15, 2026. This impacts a number of Russian East View collections. I've attached a spreadsheet provided by East View of "UDB Platforms - Databases being removed from https://dlib.eastview.com." Could the Infoteka collections be added to the Alma CZ?

  3. Enrich Pressbooks Directory CZ collection with discovery metadata from the OPDS feed

    The Pressbooks Directory (https://pressbooks.directory/) indexes thousands of open access books created by educational institutions.

    The corresponding CZ collection "Pressbooks Directory" (Collection ID 611086618140000041) makes these books available for activation in Alma, but the bibs currently carry only title (245), author (100), and language (008). As an example, the record for "Stories From The Place of Sports in The University, 3rd Edition" from University of Washington Libraries (MMS 9948351757900041) contains no 520, 650, or 856 for cover, though Pressbooks supplies a paragraph-length description, seven subject headings, and a cover image URL for this book.   4. Add 1.2 million historic U.S. Government publications

    The US Government Publishing Office (GPO) announced newly available gov docs (link below and attached as a PDF). The press release says "The new records come from the Monthly Catalog of U.S. Government Publications, often called “MoCat.” They were converted from the print catalogs to a searchable form and freely licensed to the public by Proquest, part of Clarivate."

  6. Enhancing searchability through original script support for non-latin data

    Hi,
    currently, the CZ-data in other than latin scripts is often transliterated using the ALA transliteration rules. However, these rules are not used in all regions of the world. This issue concerns mainly the title and authors. Ultimately, the different transliterations make the search for this data very difficult.

    We suggest that the CZ-data in other than latin scripts should contain the original script as well as the transliteration. If ExLibris could introduce the original script in a linked field 880 as the standard for non-Latin scripts in the CZ, this would be a big advantage for us in the…

    I would like to request that the MARC records for the following collection be enhanced with Grasshopper Films help.

  14. Add ISLaS+ database to Alma

    ISLaS+ is a consortial ILS shared by most of Greek universities. In order to benefit from their metadata, it would be a great asset to integrate its database to the external ressources harvested by Alma. This would be especially useful for libraries with Moder Greek collections.

  18. Add collection for PALCI Ebook Central Subscription

    Hi, can you add a dedicated Ebook Central PALCI collection to the Alma CZ? There is already the "Ebook Central PALCI/SAGE EBA" collection (Collection ID: 614940000000000191) for Sage titles but there does not appear to be one for non-Sage titles.

  19. East View Global Press Archive Area Studies Initiative 2026

    Ex Libris's established provider partner, East View, has released the Area Studies Initiative 2026 collection. Our library, as part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, invested in this collection, and we'd like to activate it in the Community Zone. In past years, we have activated similar collections:
