Your feedback matters to us. Help us to extend our discovery indexes, KnowledgeBases and Community Zone by telling us what collections and data you’d like to see us add, using the message areas below. You can also support something already posted.
If you are suggesting new content for Discovery that is not yet in the Knowledgebase you do not need to submit two entries (one for Discovery and one for Knowledgebase)
Specifically you can suggest:
• New collections for Discovery (Primo Central and Summon)
• New collections for the Knowledgebase (Alma CZ, SFX KB and 360 KB)
• New authority files to be added to the Community Zone
• Enrichment of Community Zone bibliographic records for certain collections

We would love to be able to respond to every idea that is submitted, but this is not feasible. We are, however, committed to responding to the most popular ideas—those that have received the most points.
For more information please review our FAQ and guidelines. Thank you.

  1. Add OA flag to Community Zone Open Access ebook collections where they are missing

Some Alma CZ ebook e-collections do not include a MARC 506 field that would add the OA flag to Primo search results. This means that these titles are not included in the Open Access facet under Availability - even though the names of the e-collections state that they are open access.

    Eg:

    Project Euclid Open Access Monographs
    Bloomsbury Open Access
    Brillonline Open Access Books
International Monetary Fund eLibrary Open Access
    JSTOR Books Open Access
    Project Muse Open Access Books
Smithsonian Research Online - Open Access (Smithsonian)
Taylor & Francis eBooks Open Access
Walter De Gruyter: Open Access eBooks

    Please consider…

  2. Idunn open access e-books

    Idunn open access e-books

We would like to see open access e-books from Universitetsforlaget added as a separate e-collection in Alma CZ. For more details, see this link:
    https://www.universitetsforlaget.no/en/boker/apen-tilgang

Note that there are two Idunn e-collections in CZ already:
    Idunn.no (all Idunn portfolios)
    IDUNN Open Acess Journals

  4. LibreTexts

We would like to add LibreTexts vast collection of open educational resources (OER) to CDI: https://libretexts.org/

LibreTexts is home to the largest collection of open educational resources online. Adding this resource to CDI would ensure users have access to OER from across a wide variety of disciplines.

  5. Pressbooks Directory

The Pressbooks Directory (https://pressbooks.directory/) indexes over 2000 open access books created by educational institutions. As many of these are not indexed separately, it would be great if the contents of the directory could be included in the Alma Community Zone and/or the Central Discovery Index.

  6. Editorial Tirant lo Blanch

Editorial Tirant lo Blanch (https://editorial.tirant.com/es) is one of the main Law content providers in Spanish. The majority of the academic institutions are their customer.

They produced databases, journals and books, and host them in their platforms (called Tirant Online, Biblioteca Tirant and Nube de Lectura). It would be very interesting to be able to index their contents.

Adding their resources in the CDI would be very beneficial for all academic institutions studying Spanish Law.

  7. Add VitalSource book collection

We would like to add VitalSource book collection to ALMA CZ and CDI.
This is an important platform of text books collection.

  8. Add the "freely available" titles in the EZB "Medicine" category as a new target

Add the "freely available" titles in the EZB "Medicine" category as a new target for the SFX Knowledgebase. There are already many EZB (University Library of Regensburg Electronic Journals Library) targets in SFX, including the ZB-FREE-00999FREELYAVAILABLEEZBJOURNALS full-text target. This currently contains around 68,000 free title object portfolios.

We would like to be able to use the "Medicine" subset of the free target (currently 8,977 titles) as many of the other titles are not relevant to our clinicians

  9. Improve indexing of HAL in CDI

Hal is one of the most important French open archive. The database offers open access documents directly from the platform and references to documents for which the full text is not available.
In CDI two collections allow to activate the search on this database.
    - Hyper Article en Ligne (HAL) (Open Access) (ID CDI VOOES) which covers only open access records.
    - Hyper Article Online (HAL) (CDI ID 1XC) which covers all the records in HAL.
Both of the HAL collections are link-in-records databases
The problem is that it shows as unavailable the records to which we could have gained…

  10. CZ AMD bib material type revised

There are many AMD related collections (Collection ID: 61616107200003966; Collection ID: 61616086800003966 and so on) in ALMA CZ. We found many resources bib material type are defined as JOURNAL, which is wrong compared with the real situation(They may be manscript, document ,photograph in the database platform). However, we cannot upload electronic material type in batch to replace.

We think CZ should confirm and fix the wrong bib material type.

  11. New Community Zone electronic collection request: IET Open Access Journals on Wiley Online Library

The University of Strathclyde requests the addition of a new CZ collection for IET Open Access titles that are now available on the Research Hub on Wiley Online Library. The details of the 43 titles to be added are listed here: https://ietresearch.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/
Currently the IET titles are available on the ‘Wiley Online Library Open Access’ collection (Collection ID: 614330000000000427)’ however the content has now moved from the main Wiley Online Library ( https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com ) site to the Research Hub on Wiley Online ( https://ietresearch.onlinelibrary.wiley.com ), and the links no longer work. We would prefer if the IET Journals had their…

  12. Add Overdrive to 360 KB and Summon

Many academic libraries are using this product. It would be good to have integrated into discovery systems.

  16. Open Textbook Catalog: Please use direct feed of MARC records from https://open.umn.edu/opentextbooks/discovery

In the CZ there is an existing collection (613790000000001601) for the Open Textbook Catalog.

Compared to the MARC records available at https://open.umn.edu/opentextbooks/discovery the CZ collection has fewer titles (651 vs 766 as of 07/13/2020).

Also the CZ bibliographic records are extremely brief and usually have nothing more than a title in the 245 field. The bib records from open.umn.edu are fuller with author, title, publisher, content and summary notes and subject headings.

This request is to ask Exlibris to use the publicly available MARC bib records from the open.umn.edu website to enhance the existing CZ collection.

    Thank you.
