Policy Commons
Please ingest as a CDI "link in record" database the various Policy Commons modules on this page: https://policycommons.net/modules/
We are particularly interested in "Global Think Tanks", but all should be added.
Also note that while I expect this would be a new provider, there is already an idea with a status of "planned" for Africa Commons, from the same provider, Coherent Digital.
Thank you!
Matthew
Hello,
The Policy Commons collection from Coherent Digital will be added to CDI by end of March 2025.
I will confirm a timeline about the Global Think Tanks.
Kind regards,
Tamar

Hello Tamar,
Is there any update on the process for getting these collections added to CDI? Title-level access to these collections is a very high priority for our selectors.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Tamar, I'm glad to see that Policy Commons content will be added to the CDI. Do you have an update on the timeline for the ingest? Also, will the CDI indexing be done for each individual module in the collection, or just for the Policy Commons collection (Collection ID: 614930000000000295)?
Thanks,

Hi Tamar, i was wondering if there was any update on this idea (i.e. where it falls in the workflow; if any work has been scheduled in relation to this and if so timeframes?)

Hiya, I'm just adding a second comment to pass on some information I received in a conversation with Coherent Digital (the provider of the Policy Commons product).
"title-level data is a fantastic way to integrate Policy Commons' content with discovery systems. And that is exactly the path that we've chosen in regards with discovery vendors last year. Back in December 2023, we gave the ExLibris team KBART feeds for all of our products, and those feeds indeed included title-level data split and organised by all the individual modules in Policy Commons, History Commons, etc. However, the latest update from ExLibris I have is that they are still working on the ingestion of that data and that in the interim they've created zero-title databases."
From this conversation it sounds like the content provider are able and keen to provide title level metadata for these products. I undestand that this will be reviewed according to the regular workflow of content requests. Just to reiterate that, like Matthew, we would like to see CDI level discovery for all modules of Policy Commons, but our institution's own particular priority would be for the Global Think Tanks module.

Just to add that 'Global Think Tanks' would also be our institution's priority, out of the various Policy Commons module.
The Community Zone collections that I can see available for Africa Commons (I assume these are the newly created collections referred to in the 'Add Africa Commons from Coherent Digital' idea) are selective package type collections containing portfolio records for the different magazine titles.
From what I've seen of the Global Think Tanks product so far (we are in the very early stages of a trial for this product), I think it contains a different type of content to Africa Commons. I think that Global Think Tanks contains document type content such as reports, working papers, policy briefs etc. I agree with Matthew that I would like to see a link in record type CDI collection available for this product.
