← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

    We had a request for the a few volumes of UNESCO's "General History of Africa" to be added to Alma.

    Unfortunately, I can't seem to find volume XI…

  8. Add Info Lit - Health Science

    Please add Info Lit - Health Science (Credo Reference) to the Alma CZ.

    There already exists a collection (Collection ID: 61864703690000041) for InfoLit Core, but Information Literacy – Core is a different module. We would appreciate an additional collection being created for this module to ensure accuracy in our IZ.

  10. Add Met Opera on Demand Records to the CZ

    Please add the Metropolitan Opera's "Met Opera on Demand" content to the CZ. They do not appear to have records directly available, but they do offer MARC records through OCLC's Connection Manager.

    Very few students use the correct proxy database link to visit Met Opera separately as their first method of finding these recordings. More often, students search Primo (which will not show Met Opera records, leading them to assume it's not online) OR bypass our specific link and go directly to Met Opera or Google, often making it appear like they can't access it.   13. De Gruyter University Press Backlist Collections

    De Gruyter provides many university press collections that are for backlist years, such as 2013 and earlier. However, while these collections are available and have portfolios representing the titles in the collection, some titles do not have full-text because De Gruyter is in the process of digitizing these.     Hello,

    Indexing by content type is not currently supported. While you can use free-text search, the ideas themselves do not consistently specify the material type, making it difficult to reliably filter results to only those related to e-journals.

    Please create a database collection in the KBs for the following DeGruyter/Brill resource:

    Would it also be possible to add granular metadata for this to the CDI?

    There's current a portfolio for this in the "De Gruyter Databases" CZ collection with "journal" electronic material which doesn't make sense.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, De Gruyter does not currently provide a CDI feed for it.

    While we recognize that the portfolio type is not accurate, the resource is represented within the De Gruyter Databases collection to improve management of De Gruyter's standalone databases.

    For these reasons, we will not proceed with creating a standalone database at this time.

    Access to the continuously updated Lamy publisher documentary collection: the official collection (national and EU official texts, treaties, private law case law, public law case law, European case law, administrative authorities), Lamy books and journals in French.
    Lamy is a French publisher that doesn't exist in the KB; however, the company is now part of Kluwer: I hope this still makes it a new publisher for you.

    We did try to obtain their metadata

    Unfortunately, in May 2025 they responded that their metadata is protected by a confidentiality agreement and they won't be able to share it.

    Therefore we will not be able to create a collection for lamyline.
