← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

    Hello,

    ACM confirmed that the difference between Digital Library Basic and Digital Library Premium is not in the metadata, but in the tools.

    They do not have separate title lists for these.

    Bloomsbury confirmed that no new content was added in 2025, so they will not be providing metadata for that year’s collection.

    They expect to add new content in 2026 and will share the metadata once it becomes available.

  4. Oxford Intersections

    Specifically, Oxford Intersections: AI in Society, but this might apply to the others under the Intersections collection (61637127640000041).

    Currently, there's only a single umbrella portfolio (535490000004104136) for this resource in the CZ, but there are articles being added to it on a regular basis.
    Hoping this content can be indexed, so that the individual articles can be discoverable in Primo.

  5. Enrich bib records for VLeBooks

    Hello,

    Please try to get enriched bib records from Brown's for their VleBooks titles:

    Since VLeBooks does not provide MARC records, we enrich their titles using other metadata to ensure high‑quality bibliographic records in the CZ.

    We are already leveraging all available metadata from VLeBooks and will continue to build on it through our ongoing enrichment workflows.

  6. Add full MARC records to CZ for OverDrive and Kanopy

    OverDrive and Kanopy collections have recently been added to the Alma Community Zone. We're thrilled at this possibility, as it should help consortium members manage their collections better. However, the brief MARC records are wholly unexpected given that the company provides MARC records to subscribers.

    If it is contractually possible, please add the company's MARC records to the CZ for corresponding portfolios, as this will aid in discovery and efficiency for both the consortium and member libraries.

    The OverDrive Ebooks and Audiobooks (Collection ID: 61499649300000041) has a Bib rank of 77, which is currently the best we can get.

    Kanopy currently does not provide MARC records. However, we have communicated to them that there is significant interest from the community in obtaining better records and we hope they will be able to provide these in the future.

  7. DEAD SEA SCROLLS ELECTRONIC LIBRARY (Brill)

    Please create a new electronic collection DEAD SEA SCROLLS ELECTRONIC LIBRARY with the URL https://scholarlyeditions.brill.com/library/urn:cts:ancJewLit:dss
    containing the following 3 portfolios as described in the link I shared above:

    • Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Library Non-Biblical Texts
    • Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Library Biblical Texts
    • Codex Leningradensis

    The individual parts can already be found in Alma, but not as part of the "Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Library" yet.

    Hello,

    Brill has confirmed that the following resources are sold individually, not as part of a bundle:

    • Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Library: Non-Biblical Texts
    • Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Library: Biblical Texts

    Accordingly, there is no title list available for a combined “bundle,” and each resource must be activated separately from Brill’s Scholarly Editions Collection (Collection ID: 615460000000000307).

    Brill also confirmed that there are no separate details available for Codex Leningradensis, as it is an add-on to the Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Library Biblical text, and is not sold independently.

    Therefore, we will not be creating a new collection as you suggested.

  8. Add Wolters Kluwer VitalLaw collection

    Could a title level collection be added for VitalLaw, from Wolters Kluwer? VitalLaw is essential for academic law libraries, firms, and cross-displinary studies like business, healthcare, and economics. The VitalLaw platform includes treatises, journals, primary law, and research tools, specializing in the areas of tax, securities, international law, and business law. VitalLaw is widely used alongside Lexis and Westlaw, so I think it should have the same or similar discovery options available. It would be really helpful for my library and many others, I think.   10. Add Open Access eBooks from the Publisher Wallstein Verlag, Göttingen, Germany to the Knowledgebases

    The Wallstein Verlag has published a number of open access eBooks in the humanities, and the number is increasing.
    It would be fantastic if these OA eBooks could be made available as an eCollection in ALMA.

  14. Enrich CZ MARC records for CRL (Center for Research Libraries) collections

    CRL (Center for Research Libraries) has provided metadata to Ex Libris, which has been used to create CZ collections with MARC bibliographic records and portfolios. However, these collections have very poor MARC bibliographic metadata. I suspect they were created by KBART file uploads. Because many of the resources in these collections are older digitized materials, they lack identifiers such as ISSNs and ISBNs and are thus unlikely to join to robust existing CZ records (nor are they likely to be overlaid by provide record loads or CONSER records).

    Could Ex Libris please work with CRL to enrich the MARC bibliographic…

    Hello,

    We recently explored this option, and received a response from CRL in February 2025 stating that CRL is not interested in providing CRL MARC records for bibliographic enrichment at this time. It would not be in keeping with agreements they have in place.

    Therefore we will not be able to enrich these collections.

  16. Docuseek Canadian Collection

    Please update the content in the Docuseek Canadian Collection (FBCOY). According to Docuseek, we are subscribed to 3201 portfolios in their collection and only have access to 2455 through this package (and 383 through a different collection, which is fine). The CZ collection only has 2455 titles.

  17. Projectr Streaming Video MARC Enrichment

    Please try to obtain comprehensive MARC records from Projectr, a streaming video platform from Grasshopper Films. Some of their CZ collections have enriched records from Alexander Street but Alexander Street only hosts a subset of their platform.

    there were no handbooks titles published for these subject areas in 2025.

    Therefore, we will not create these collections.

    We have noticed that many books in the Cambridge eBooks without Partner Presses: 2025 All eBooks collection have very poor metadata. Here are a few examples from our library:

    Hello,

    Cambridge UP provides us with enrichment files on a monthly basis. These records may be newer additions and therefore might not have been enriched by the current feed yet.

    Overall, the average Bib ranking for this collection is 87.35, which is considered good. Since most records in this collection are of high quality and these cases appear to be exceptions, I believe this issue should be reported via a support ticket, as it seems to be a specific error rather than an indication that a new enrichment feed is needed.

    I kindly ask you to open a support ticket and appreciate your continued efforts in maintaining the high quality of the CZ.
