← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Please add the collection: ヨミダス歴史館 (Yomidasu, Yomiuri Database Service) by 読売新聞社 (Yomiuri Shimbun).
    It’s a major daily newspaper in Japanese, and many academic libraries in Japan subscribe this database. This collection is available in alma CZ (Collection ID: 613790000000000856), but adding this to the CDI will make it more convenient for users.

    Please add the collection: J-GLOBAL by 科学技術振興機構 (Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Japan) to Central Discovery Index (CDI).
    This is an open access, comprehensive website for scientific and technical information with 10 types of information, such as articles, researchers, patents, etc. It’s an essential online service for Japanese scientists. This collection is available in alma CZ (Collection ID: 6114032540000041), but adding this to the CDI will make it more convenient for users.

  3. EBSCO Sage Transforming Nursing Practice eBooks

    To add an electronic collection for the EBSCO hosted Sage Transforming Nursing Practice eBooks, a subscription package that currently has 70 titles.

    69 of these have bib records already on the CZ. However, some of them are a very brief, while some of them have errors (spelling in titles, wrong years, no 100 field etc.)

  5. Please add backlist collections for Boydell & Brewer from De Gruyter

    Community zone only has 2024 and 2024 complete ebook collections from De Gruyter for Boydell & Brewer. Please add the backlist years, at least going back to 2000. The ebooks are live on the De Gruyter platform.

    Please add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index) a collection that corresponds to the current Emerald collection "Library & Information Sciences" (16 journals).
    The collection "Emerald Library Studies" (613720000000001716) is inappropriate, as it contains discontinued titles that are no longer offered to new customers.

  8. Brepols Open Access eBooks

    Brepols Publishing publishes open access ebooks and it would be useful to make them discoverable via Primo VE. Alma’s Community Zone does not have a distinct collection for this content.   10. The Financial Times Historical Archive 2011 - 2016 Update

    The University of Glasgow has taken out a subscription to Gale Accelerate that gives us access to several primary sources databases. One of these is not yet available in Serials Solutions, The Financial Times Historical Archive 2011 - 2016 Update. Could this please be added?

  12. Automated holdings management for VLeBooks

    Could we please enable automated holdings management for:

    Database name: VLeBooks
    Database code: 38.
    Provider:Askews and Holts Library Services Ltd
    Default URL: http://www.vlebooks.com/

    I have had difficulty activating e-book titles for this provider in the 360 KB, due to metadata inconsistencies.

    ProQuset and Ex Libris Support suggested that the content team and developers are looking for opportunities to extend the support for the "Automated Holdings Updates" process that is now set up for PQ Ebook Central.

    Since there are now similar processes available for Taylor & Francis books and Springer Nature content, would it be possible to enable this process…

    Please can you add the latest OUP Law Trove 2024-2025 collection to the Community Zone? It is already available on the publisher website (new collections released every September).
