We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).
- Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
- Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
- Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
- For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
- Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
- Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
- A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.
- Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
- New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.

Enhancing searchability through original script support for non-latin data
Hi,
currently, the CZ-data in other than latin scripts is often transliterated using the ALA transliteration rules. However, these rules are not used in all regions of the world. This issue concerns mainly the title and authors. Ultimately, the different transliterations make the search for this data very difficult. We suggest that the CZ-data in other than latin scripts should contain the original script as well as the transliteration. If ExLibris could introduce the original script in a linked field 880 as the standard for non-Latin scripts in the CZ, this would be a big advantage for us in the…

Stop indexing “Book reviews” in CDI
These documents generate a lot of link problems. Each review is generally indexed separately and is the subject of a separate CDI record.
Problem 1
This creates confusion for users, who believe they have access to the reviewed work, but it is usually only a brief summary, which creates frustration (in addition to polluting the database because the title they are really looking for is often buried among numerous review records).Problem 2
This creates problems with links. Book reviews on journal websites are often grouped together in a single section of the issue, and the links in the CDI…7 votes -

filtering out book chapters with no meaningful scholarly content
Develop a method for filtering out book chapters with no meaningful scholarly content from CDI (e.g., title page, copyright, acknowledgements, etc.). These tend to glut up search results and confuse library patrons.
For example:
Chapter Title = Acknowledgements

Perlego: Map regional indicators or create regional collections for KBs
The current Perlego collection (YSPEL in 360KB) contains some titles that are not available in certain regions (including the United States). This results in CDI or 360 MARC Updates records for titles our students are not able to access, causing frustration and confusion.
If there are geographical area indicators in the Perlego metadata that relate to where titles are (or are not) available, those indicators should get mapped in discovery so that only available titles are shown based on the customer location.
Or else, make separate region-specific Perlego collections in the KBs, so that libraries can subscribe according to their…

Separate publisher and aggregator collections to filter out unavailable preprints
Publishers are increasingly adding preprints to their collections but aggregators do not add them until they have been fully "published". Because aggregators and publishers share collections on the CDI, it looks as if our aggregator links are broken in the catalogue. If aggregators and publishers provide different levels of access, can the collections be separated to reflect this?
This is important because the preprints tend to be the latest publications and so are in relatively high demand.79 votes
