← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  4. Please index Jxiv into CDI

    CDI has the records of Provider: Japan Science and Technology Agency.
    The publisher has a pre-print server and provides the records as the database "Jxiv".
    Could you please negotiate with the provider and ask them to index the preprint records into CDI?

  6. Indian Political Intelligence Files, 1912–1950

    Please create a database collection in the KBs for the following DeGruyter/Brill resource:

    Would it also be possible to add granular metadata for this to the CDI?

    There's current a portfolio for this in the "De Gruyter Databases" CZ collection with "journal" electronic material which doesn't make sense.

  9. SAGE open access collection

    Please add a new collection to the KBs for SAGE open access journals. Currently there are SAGE OA annual collections and Ex Libris has agreed to move away from annual collections for OA.

    This collection should include all Mary Ann Liebert titles that are open access.

    Duke University Libraries would like the following collections added to Alma.

    2. Edward Elgar Archive D Social and Political Science

    A and B of these Archives already exist in Alma but it seems that C and D were somehow skipped.

  12. East View Global Press Archive Area Studies Initiative 2026

    Ex Libris's established provider partner, East View, has released the Area Studies Initiative 2026 collection. Our library, as part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, invested in this collection, and we'd like to activate it in the Community Zone. In past years, we have activated similar collections:

    Hi, can a CZ collection be created for the Intersentia 2026 frontlist collection? Intersentia is an imprint of Cambridge University Press. There are CZ collections for 2021, 2022, and 2025 but not 2026.

  17. Ask Gale to enrich Archives of Sexuality & Gender MARC records with homosaurus subject headings.

    We currently use vendor records from Gale for Gale's Archives of Sexuality & Gender e-collections (there are six e-collections). We would prefer to switch to using CZ CKB records for the link maintenance and journal coverage information, but our Gale vendor MARC records, upon request, were updated to include homosaurus subject headings which we consider important given the content. Perhaps, since Gale appears to be one of your MARC record providers, you could ask them to add homosaurus subject headings to the Archives of Sexuality & Gender e-collections MARC records.

  19. Sage Journals Backfile Packages for 2026

    Sage has released their journal package lists for 2026, see https://www.sagepub.com/journals/information-for-librarians/journals-packages. Backfile collections have been added to Alma CZ for past years. We would like to see the 2026 collections added as well. We are specifically looking for the 2026 Shallow Backfile Package 1 and Package 2.
