← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    We've recently subscribed to two Coherent Digital collections that we don't see in the CZ. Please add:

    Both are listed under their Applied Science Commons.

    Hello,

    We are working with coherent Digital to align their collection sin the Knowledgebases and Discovery.

    However, there is no timeline I can share.

  4. KL Hatke

    Please consider adding the online publication KL Hatke to the community zone. KL Hatke is a media platform that produces articles written by women in rural India. The content is mainly articles. It would be great to have this added as a portfolio or database so that the CDI might create article records for discovery.

  5. The Swedish Transport Administration (DiVA)

    Hi!

    Could you please add the Swedish Transport Administration’s (Trafikverket) DiVA archive to the 360 Knowledge Base? It contains valuable reports that are part of course literature in programs at our university, as well as at many other Swedish universities.

    Please add a collection for the European Mathematical Society 2026 eBooks. We see a large collection called European Mathematical Society Books without years, but this makes it difficult to manage when we do not pick up the collection each year and the provider sells it by year.     LexNow confirmed on the agreement to develop a gateway from LexNow.io to the Alma Library Management System (Ex Libris). (CZ & CDI)

    As for timing, LexNow made commitments to our clients regarding developments, and they intend to honour them. LexNow is looking at the first half of 2026.

    In the meantime, LexNow will of course continue to provide you with regular Ms Excel exports of our titles (books and journals) to feed into your digital catalogues.

  13. Add Docuseek2 Complete Collection 4th Edition Alexander Street version to Alma CZ

    Docuseek2 makes their films available both on their own Docuseek platform and on the Alexander Street platform. In general, they first make the films available on Docuseek, and then once they work out an agreement with Alexander Street, the films are added to Alexander Street as well. We heard from Docuseek2 that their 4th Edition collection is now available from Alexander Street. However, we don't see a CZ collection for the 4th Edition on Alexander Street.     Our library recently purchased this electronic manual, which is published by the American Institute of Steel Construction, which seems to exist in the CZ. We purchased the 2023 edition, Volume 16. The (print) ISBN is: 978-1-56424-116-0. More information is listed here: https://www.aisc.org/aisc/publications/steel-construction-manual/

    This book is commonly used in engineering programs.
