← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    From the Internet description, MAS Reference eBook collection is a companion to the MAS Complete collections. While MAS Complete collections are in the CZ, MAS Reference ebook collection is not.

  2. Teachingbooks need contents update

    Hi,

    We have subscribed to Teachingbooks and obtained MARC records from them to create a collection when we set it up years ago. Recently, they told us that to get updates, individual libraries have to set up API to connect to their catalogs using software such as TLC’s LS2, Apollo’s Biblionix, etc.

    Alma Community Zone has offered several Teachingbooks versions as databases. It would be beneficial to all Alma libraries if Ex Libris's Content Team contacts them and sets up API with them, so the databases can become collections with updates, than individual libraries setting up API on their own.…

    Hello,

    We will reach out to TeachingBooks and request metadata for their collections.

    Please note that TeachingBooks currently does not share metadata with us, so establishing a new metadata feed may take longer than it would with providers that already supply regular updates.

  3. BoardGameGeek data

    BoardGameGeek is a repository of all board games and many video games (this section is slowly growing) that have been published and released, and many of these are available in many of our libraries. This site has cover images, details about publication dates, etc, and sometimes even instruction manuals.

    An API is available here for the "things" (what they call the games/etc)

  5. Add Inlibra as Provider

    Hello, we received a notice that all titles in the Nomos eLibrary, the Beck eLibrary, and the VDI Verlag-eLibrary are moving to a new platform: Inlibra (https://www.inlibra.com/de/). Can you please add this provider and its collections to the CZ?

  6. Add Newer IGI Global Open Access Collections

    Could you please add newer IGI open access collections to the knowledge bases? OR add non-annual collections for OA journals and books? In the CZ their latest OA journal collection is from 2023 and their latest OA ebook collection is from 2024. Thank you!

  7. Please index Jxiv into CDI

    CDI has the records of Provider: Japan Science and Technology Agency.
    The publisher has a pre-print server and provides the records as the database "Jxiv".
    Could you please negotiate with the provider and ask them to index the preprint records into CDI?

  8. Add Info Lit - Health Science

    Please add Info Lit - Health Science (Credo Reference) to the Alma CZ.

    There already exists a collection (Collection ID: 61864703690000041) for InfoLit Core, but Information Literacy – Core is a different module. We would appreciate an additional collection being created for this module to ensure accuracy in our IZ.

  11. Add Bloomsbury Food Library: Core Collection 462 portfolios

    Can you add the e-collection: Bloomsbury Food Library: Core Collection to the CZ? The current e-collection in the Alma CZ is entitled, "Bloomsbury Food Library: Core Collection - Annual Update 2025" and contains only 15 portfolios. The Core Collections contains 462 portfolios. See this link: https://www.bloomsburyfoodlibrary.com/about-bloomsbury-food-library-core-collection. I will attach the associated title list that I downloaded from the webpage.

    If you filter by collection title in the spreadsheet there is nothing named, "Core Collection" or "Bloomsbury Food Library: Core Collection," there is just "Bloomsbury Food Library" and it has more than 15 portfolios. This link is what was provided…

    Would it be possible to enrich bib records for Thieme's MedOne Education- Anatomy collection in CZ (Collection ID: 616180000000000269) using vendor's MARC records for "MedOne Education Plus (Add-On Titles)" listed here: https://try-medone.thieme.com/medone-librarians/#titleMARC or using LC MARC by ISBN match (e.g. LCCN 2017057413)?

    Not sure if the Alma collection name also needs to be updated since there's no corresponding MedOne Anatomy collection listed on vendor's page above. Thanks!

    The CZ already includes a collection:
    Shanghai Library Chinese and English Newspaper of Modern China - Comprehensive Collection
    CZ Collection ID: 61820310460000041
    However, the existing collection, with 301 portfolios, appears to cover only series 1 and 2. Can new collections please be added to cover the newspapers from series 3-6 (approximately 650 additional titles)?

  15. East View Global Press Archive Area Studies Initiative 2026

    Ex Libris's established provider partner, East View, has released the Area Studies Initiative 2026 collection. Our library, as part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, invested in this collection, and we'd like to activate it in the Community Zone. In past years, we have activated similar collections:

    Arctic Today is an online media outlet which covers geopolitics, environment, defense, government, travel, research and more in the USA, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Denmark and Greenland. Given the region's increasing importance in international matters, we wish to have its content searchable with Primo.

    There are no specific journal lists for Springer Nature's OASE+ Transformative Agreement customer in Japan.

    Available Journals for OASE+ one are slightly different from other TA lists.

    I hope it will add to 360KB and Alma CZ as soon as possible.
