  1. Ability to display split holdings in MARC record

We want to be able to display split holdings in the MARC record for a journal. You can add a Public Note:
    https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/bcE3CgZo1xHBGWYvso7snJ?domain=knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com
This displays in the ejournal portal but it doesn't show in Summon or the MARC record. I've been told that it will show in Summon after the next release, but there are no plans to make it show in the MARC record. This is a problem for users when they check our catalogue for holdings.

  2. Make the Summon search box widget a responsive design

I want to embed the Summon search box widget on a Moodle page. Search box length is 'static'. It can be set to particular length but it is then not responsive in different screen sizes. The Summon preview pane widget is already responsive i.e. you can set length to 'fluid' and it changes width in different screens. I would like to see this also for the search box.

  3. IP Anonymization (or IP masking) in Google Analytics

Make it possible for a library to add anonymization to their Google Analytics code. See https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2763052?hl=en

  4. Remove identical links in Summon results for eBooks

eBook titles that have a MARC record in Library Catalogue are duplicated in the Summon results as a single result entry with 2 links.

Advised by technical support that this is the current design, case response below. The two links (particularly in the new interface with dropdown is an extra step for users).

"ILS gets one record by 360 MARC update service and ILS sends the record to Summon.
Accordingly, the link URLs are same, however, Summon thinks there are two link candidates after M&M, one is from ILS, the other is from Ebook Central. Currently, this is a design."

  5. Display multiple editions of a title in order, most recent first.

Multiple editions of a title often display in the Summon search results in a seemingly random order. Different editions of the same title should display in a logical order with the most recent edition first. We have reported countless instances of this behaviour over the years and are told that it is unfixable due to the quality of metadata.

Summon should link different editions of a title together so it can display them in a logical order. As Summon will not always be able to do this accurately, give customers a way to edit and improve the data so we…

  6. Make automatic completion of bibliographic information selectable.

As for ClientCenter, I would like the administrator to be able to select whether or not to apply the function of automatic completion of bibliographic information to titles registered in Library Specific Holdings. This is because it is sometimes preferable to register bibliography exactly as admin entered.

  7. Display Language Filter after search in default search language

Currently the Language Filter on the left hand side of the search results displays (some) languages in their original language and character encoding (see: 日本語, 한국어, ไทย...) while other languages in the facet/filter are displayed in English (English, Japanese, Korean...).
Allow the Language Filter to be metadata independent, displaying language results consistently in the default search language (English, German, etc.)

  8. Search Scope based on a selection of databases, library catalog + open access in CDI

Search Scopes are based on the fields available in the Advanced Search (Search Options) and are useful to our current students, faculty and staff. I'd be really excited to create a scope in Summon for our alumni. Alumni have access to content from a selection of our databases, so being able to present them with a search scope that, for example, includes e-books, journals and articles only from that subset of databases (plus open access things and the print materials in the catalog) would save them the aggravation of, say, clicking on a ProQuest Ebook Central title, and being denied…

  9. Create collections in Summon

It would be great to be able to create collections by selecting resources directly in Summon, even if we don't have Alma.
Collections could be displayed in the same way as in Primo :

  10. Bring back the date slider to the Publication Date facet

We'd love the option to use a date slider in addition to manually inputting start and end dates for the Publication Date facet. The slider is so much simpler for users, as having to think up very specific dates can seem arbitrary, and takes more time to execute. You've indicated that the histogram in previous versions of the Summon UI caused performance issues; we don't necessarily need a histogram. Just a slider!

  11. Add a search result facet for Publication Title

Currently there is no option to add a facet on the search results screen to filter by publication (journal) title. Searching a specific journal can be done in the following ways:

    • Pre-search, by using Advanced Search/Options to add the journal's title or ISSN as an AND;
    • Post-search, by clicking on a hyperlinked journal title within a result, which opens the "search within journal" function in a new window;
    • Using the E-Journal Portal to find the journal, then using the search box to search within the journal

None of these options allows for the user to execute a search, then browse…

  12. "Citation Online" + Open Access logo in Summon

In the Summon results page, the mention "Full Text Online" is replaced by "Citation Online" for results beyond library collection.

I suggest an exception where this mention "Full Text Online" is not replaced for results beyond library collection, when these results are Open Access and when the Open Access logo is displayed.

  13. Option to toggle WoS / Scopus citation counts in search results

It would be good if we could choose to make either WoS or Scopus citation counts visible in Summon, instead of having to have either both or neither switched on.

Because we no longer subscribe to WoS but do subscribe to Scopus, the only way we could get WoS citation counts removed from the Summon search results was to untrack Web of Science in Intota. We don't like to untrack resources that we've previously subscribed to, because doing so means we can't see any of the historical data attached to Web of Knowledge collection databases. This is just how Intota…

  14. Add geographic facet to the results page

The ability to limit the search on the results page with a geographic subject facet. This would allow users to search within their results for items on regional specific items.

  15. Initiate Best Bets from the Resource.

It would be simpler to add a check-box for Best Bet and text box to insert the description to the resource activation, than to enter that same information separately. Also, the Best Bet would then use the same version of the URL that the link resolver uses, and it would be updated when that URL changes in the Knowledge base.

  16. Primo Style Search Profile

We would love to see a feature similar to the Primmo Search Profile (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/Primo_VE/010Configuring_Search_Profiles) included in Summon. As a Summon over Alma customer, we would love to more easily be able to link out to WorldCat, highlight our Course Reserves, and more.

  17. Add a French Dictionary/Encyclopedia (3rd search results pane)

As a francophone (French-speaking) library, we would like to be able to add an authoritative dictionary/encylopedia whose topics can be displayed in the 3rd search results pane. Much like Wikipedia and other encyclopedias.....

    Suggestions - Universalis.fr, Larousse.fr, etc.

  18. Show the details of contract with publishers concerning search target

Contents which are searchable in Summon differ per publisher or database.
It will be helpful for librarian if they could confirm the details of contracts about search target or the breakdown of search target in ClientCenter.

Our users search directly for the signature of a book. It would be a good supplement if this search option were supplemented.

  20. Integrate NII's "cites/cited by" Information to Citation Trail

NII(National Institute for Informatics) provides "cites/cited by" Information.
    https://support.nii.ac.jp/ja/cia/manual_result
It is very desireble to integrate this "cites/cited by" information to "Citation Trail", for there is not much Japanese article information in current "Citation Trail".
