How can we improve Summon?

  1. Start Collecting E Media reports (IR_M1) in Intota

    The COUNTER IRM1 report is necessary for ACRL IPEDS survey's e-media usage reporting. As many academic libraries must comply with this reporting, It would be greatly appreciated if you could begin collecting IRM1 reports.

  3. Improve the copy function in Research Assistant

    The copy function in Research Assistant copies the abstracts of all the 5 articles, some of which can be very long abstracts. Links to the record will be more suitable instead. E.g. Summon permalink to the record.

  4. Automatically Carry Over Queries Between Library Search and Research Assistant

    Currently, when a user switches between the Library Search tab and the Research Assistant tab in Summon, the query does not carry over automatically. Users must manually enter the same search in each tab, which can be time-consuming and may disrupt workflow.

    It would be helpful if Summon could integrate with modern API testing and developer tools to improve data integration and automation workflows. Many teams rely on tools like a postman alternative to automate API validation and improve reliability. Adding better API support or integration options could make Summon more flexible for modern development environments.

    It would be very useful if Summon added an AI powered “Smart Research Assistant” feature that helps users refine searches automatically. The system could suggest better keywords, related academic topics, citation recommendations, and summarized previews of research papers based on the user’s search intent. This would save time for students and researchers while making the platform more interactive and modern.     Citation count links to Web of Science and Scopus are rewritten under an EZproxy session but links to altmetric are not.   9. Database recommendations based on content type facet

    Currently the database recommender is powered by tags (and an algorithm based on the result set?). We would like for the content type facet to also power database recommendations. For example, if the music facet is selected, Naxos is recommended. If the standards facet is selected, Standards Australia is recommended. The new database facet assists with this to a degree, but it is not foolproof.

  10. Increase limit on collected search strings in OBI usage statistics

    OBI usage statistics keep track of the 200 - 500 search strings per month performed by users. These are available in the Summon Popular Searches report available in OBI.

    It would be useful to have access to a more complete list of search strings each month though, in order to perform analysis such as subjects of interest to users or search trends over time.

    This enhancement request proposes to increase the amount of search strings recorded. A preferred options would be to allow institutions to set how many search strings would be recorded per month (ie. ranging from none to…

    If titles are removed to make a zero title database, the information does not appear in the Removed Titles report.

    Therefore, I must constantly check 360KB News to be aware of any title removal.

  12. Sorting results with Web of Science Citation Score

    It will be nice to sort search results with the citation score of Web of Science.
    It is also desirable as a next best practice to provide a refinement function for limiting the search results to those with WoS citation score.
