  1. Able to configure which citation statuses should be considered as equivalent to Complete

In Leganto it is possible to create custom citation statuses.

One such custom status we have created is 'Complete - no eBook available' which we use to signify to academic staff that a citation has been processed by the library but that it has not been possible to purchase an item electronically. For all intents and purpose this status is equivalent to Complete, but provides additional information.

It would be preferable if we were able to configure Leganto to define which statuses should be considered as Complete. This would be useful, for example, when filtering citations in Alma, where there…

  2. Hide the thumbnail URL in the citation view

In Leganto if the thumbnail URL is populated the whole URL (which could be long, unwieldy, and of no interest to the user) is displayed.

Just use it to show the thumbnail, but don't show the URL itself.

  3. Information displayed in Recent Changes of Reading List

When I delete a citaiton from the reading list, I can see the information about the deleted citaiton from the "Recent Changes" tab of the Reading List in Alma, but I can't see any information other than Title.
It would be nice to have more detailed citation information (such as ISBN, ISSN and MMS ID) to identify what citations have been removed.

  4. Allow subsections

It would be helpful to allow the creation of subsections within each section. For example, I have a reading list and the sections are labeled Module 01, etc. In the syllabus, the instructor has 6-7 readings that say "choose one or two of these". This can be added as a public note on those specific readings, but it would be nice to have the option to create a subsection within that module instead - or some other way to group those readings together.

  5. Add the possibility of rearrange the "Library Discussion" list in chronological order, from the newest to the oldest

Right now the list of actions displayed in the "Library Discussion" list can be viewed in chronological order, from the oldest to the newest. We ask the possibility of rearrange that list also in the inverse order, from the newest to the oldest, because we think it would be more useful to our users.

  6. Different student notifications on a course-by-course or instructor-by-instructor basis

When we were setting up student notifications for Leganto, different instructors wanted different notifications sent out to students in their courses (for example, some instructors wanted students to be notified when new citations were added but others did not). However, you can only set which notifications are sent to students at the institution level, so those selections cannot be customized per course and must use the lowest common denominator. We think it would be helpful if instructors can choose on a per-course basis or a per-instructor basis (affecting all of their courses only) which notifications are sent to students.

  7. Add a campus facet in list overview

We would like "Campus" to be a facet in the Reading list overview in Alma.

  8. Related records: Show holdings for chapters only

Showing holdings in Leganto for book chapters* requires that the parameter related_record is set to Yes. An unfortunate consequence is that this also shows holdings for other types of related records, like for example a book and the associated exercise book. Holdings for both books are shown together which is of course misleading and confusing.

We would like to keep the related record parameter on, but make it so that the type of related record included in the displayed holding is more selective.

In Alma, the relation is expressed in MARC field 773 (Host Item Entry). If the second Indicator…

  9. Add option for Leganto Detailed Notifications Letter to be "opt in" by default

    Hello,

We had the Leganto Detailed Notifications Letter switched on, but because there is no option currently for this to be "opt in" by default rather than "opt out" by default, we have had to switch it off again. We are only in our pilot phase so may consider switching the Letter back on later when most of our staff are using Leganto RLs. But for now it's not ideal for all instructors to get notifications when they aren't using Leganto.

We don't have control over how many instructors are attached to our courses, and because of the way courses…

  10. Ability to configure citation processing rules to not generate purchase request

At the moment, the citation processing rules are configured in such a way to only enable the generation of purchase requests if the criteria of the rule are met.
It would be useful if it was possible to also create rules which could specify that a purchase request should not be generated if the criteria are met, and to be able to set the rules in order of priority. This should work in the same way as the fulfillment unit rules so that rules are worked through from top to bottom and only the first applicable rule is used; all…

  11. Merge reading lists in Leganto

Being able to easily merge content from different list to one list - without Section text/info and notes. E.g. relevant if you want to get a complete picture of all of the literature being used a one semester/programme

  12. Copyright Clearance Center Annual License Integration

For institutions paying for the Copyright Clearance Center's annual license, it would be helpful if the process for checking permissions using RightFind could be integrated with Leganto. RightFind provides instructors with the ability to search for resources by title or ISBN/ISSN. The results display whether digital or photocopy sharing is permitted with a link to check pay-per-use. If instructors could see that a resource was already covered through the CCC annual license when adding citations, it would prevent the need to search in a second platform.

  13. Improvement and development of the Leganto broken link handling

At the moment Alma offers very little to properly handle Leganto broken links via the task-list menu. Once a Broken Link Alert is removed, the information is gone from Alma entirely. The functionality is inadequate as a workflow for library staff when investigating and recording details of our progress in fixing the problem, keeping students informed and statistical reporting.

We would like to see additional functionality :
    • Broken Link Alerts to have a more permanent record in Alma and Analytics
    • Introduction of additional fields to capture information about the Broken Links - for example broken link status (e.g.…

  14. Publish electronic records without inventory as e-book and not physical book

We are a consortium, and we have a certain number of e-book records without inventory in our network zone. Deleting these records is not an option for us for various reasons.

The expected Alma behavior for such records if there is no inventory is to publish as physical. It applies to both Primo and Leganto.

Use case: an instructor uses the expanded search to check for newer edition of a book they have previously used in a reading list. They add what seems to be a newer physical edition from 2020. In reality, the record is an e-book published as…

  15. Use the “Course Reserves Automatic Statuses” regardless of rollover type when recalculating citation status

Idea based on SalesForce case 00938590

TLDR: Use the “Course Reserves Automatic Statuses” regardless of rollover type when recalculating citation status.

In Leganto, there are two ways of initiating a rollover:

A: Directly in the Leganto interface by staff or instructors
B: Via a Course Loading Integration Profile in Alma

When a rollover is initiated through the Leganto interface, it follows certain rules set in the system (Configuration Menu > Leganto > List Management > Instructor Rollover Operations). If «Citation statuses» is set to “Recalculate”, the rollover process treats all the citations as if they were new and consults the…

  16. Hide resource locate on article citations

The Resource Locate function appears in Row Actions List in Alma for article citations. Articles do not need to be located, just resolved. The default behavior (when not resource located) is that the URESOLVER applies the date restrictions. Portfolios falling outside of the holdings period for that specific journal are filtered out.

However, when resource located, the citation is viewed as a journal and shows all portfolios attached to the journal's bib. record. In order to prevent this from happening, we suggest the resource locate option be hidden in Alma for this type of citation.

  17. Find all lists for a faculty when courses are associated to subdepartments

Would it be possible to change the structure of the Academic Department table so that Faculties and associated sublevel (institutes/department) are matched together in Alma/Leganto.

When both faculties and institutes are visible in the Leganto search it creates an expectation for the user that by choosing a faculty, they will get to see reading lists for all courses within the faculty regardless of the department. However, as the courses are usually associated to the departments, they will get no results.

Because of that we have recommended that our institutions upload either faculties or departments, not both, but we think it…

  18. Multiple assignees per list

Some institutions would like the possibility to have several assigned librarians per lists.
"We have many lists common to several campuses, and it will only increase in the future. In order to have a local overview, the campus libraries would like to be able to see the lists that are relevant to their campus. As of today this is difficult, as one one librarian can be assigned a list. We need to rely on manual processes (forwarding lists, and having manual overviews over which lists are for multiple campuses). This is difficult to maintain."

  19. Assign citation tasks to others

Tasks in the reading list tasklist have a "Reassign" option, but this isn't available for tasks in the citation tasklist.

Some of our tasklists are for specific functionalities, but others might be either a copyright request or a short loan request - these are dealt with by different teams. Our copyright person needs to be able to work through the list and assign a task to herself if it's copyright-related, but also to assign a task to a short-loan person if it's for them. (And vice versa.) This would let her clear her own view of the list so it's…

  20. Add a librarian/reviewer field to Reading List in Alma

We would like to have a possibility to add information about librarian/reviewer (a person who is responsible for processing the list) or list coordinator (someone who distributes/assigns lists to reviewers in a particular department) to reading list in Alma. It should be an editable field, available for rollover, and visible in Analytics in Course Reserves Subject Area.

In the future this information can be used to configure the following auto-assign-workflow: when the list owner sends a list to the library, the list changes its status to Ready for processing, Reviewer/Coordinator is activated as an assignee, and a message about auto-assign…
