Academic Departments within institutions often sit under Faculty or School groups. This is currently not represented in Alma or Leganto. Could we have a new (optional) field added for School/Faculty both to the Academic Department area and have it available in Analytics.202 votes
We are considering adding a field to the course record in Alma, reportable in Analytics, for the faculty/school. It could be used for reporting purposes but not for discovery purposes. In other words, you would be able to pull list usage by faculty/school, but end users would not be able to browse by faculty/school. Would it still be helpful?
At the moment Alma offers very little to properly handle Leganto broken links via the task-list menu. Once a Broken Link Alert is removed, the information is gone from Alma entirely. The functionality is inadequate as a workflow for library staff when investigating and recording details of our progress in fixing the problem, keeping students informed and statistical reporting.
We would like to see additional functionality :
• Broken Link Alerts to have a more permanent record in Alma and Analytics
• Introduction of additional fields to capture information about the Broken Links - for example broken link status (e.g.…182 votes
We have several records representing e-books, which are published as e-books (much) later than when the same content was published as a printed book. The printed book may be published in 2007, the same e-book in 2019, and even if both dates are recorded in the 008-field of the record, this information is not displayed in Leganto. Only the actual publishing year (in our example 2019) is visible to the user. It makes it look like a newer edition, which it is not.
Our case was closed last time (#05336252) but we are now moving to RDA standards,…121 votes
Sometimes instructors perform a citation search in Leganto and just add the first result that comes up in the search results; often this is actually a book review or other format that isn't logical for reserves. Additionally, most instructors are searching and expecting the latest edition to appear first in the list. Other faculty from certain departments want to choose a particular edition, and so need edition information prominently surfaced in the search result.
This results in processing delays as staff must check with instructors to clarify what items they really intended to place on reserve.
One possible solution may…109 votes
We are exploring options for this idea. The priority of the results is set by either Primo or Summon, so we cannot simply show the newest edition first unless the discovery ranking changes. However, we could potentially develop an option using the Questions feature in which the system could recognize that the instructor has added something which has other editions. The library could then configure a question for the instructor to understand if they want that edition, any edition, or the newest edition, for example. Would this help meet the need?
When using the duplicate list or copy section functions, citations which have previously been marked as Complete will revert to Being Prepared. This creates unnecessary additional work for our staff who have to mark the citations as complete again.68 votes
Currently we have to create a spreadsheet for a course rollover, then re-format it into text tab delimited file and then add it to a FTP server before it can be run in the course loader integrated process. This is a long winded process where errors can creep in.
It would be an improvement if you could upload the file directly in the Course loader integrated profile as a file upload. It would also be better if this upload could be an Excel spreadsheet rather than a text tab delimited file47 votes
Would it be possible to apply different bibliographic styles within the Leganto list view, as well as being able to apply these when exporting to Word format.36 votes
When instructors create reading lists, they're often interested in the newest edition of a book, but may not be aware that a newer edition exist.
If they're library doesn't have it or (when searching in a broader scope) if no one in the consortium has catalogued it yet, they won't find it.
In any case, automatically checking if such an edition exist would be a nice feature.26 votes
Hide locations from Resource Locate
We would like an option to filter out specific locations for the resource locate functionality in Leganto.
For legal reasons we can't purge lost/discarded items, they have to remain in Alma where they are collected in locations that are suppressed from discovery so they don't show up in Primo. Unfortunately that doesn't exclude them from being used as positive results for resource locating even though they are not actually available.
We also have several collections that are not accessible to people but (some of them) show up in Primo. Those are also items we wouldn't…24 votes
We are looking at using Rialto and ordering from Leganto looks to be a good option as Academics can place requests (Purchase requests) through the system. Ideally we would like the entry in Leganto to update the citation and status automatically once a bib is attached to the citation.21 votes
There was a comment from an academic saying when their readings were in the Learning Management System they had the correct APA referencing style demonstrated, with the link to the reading – so students could see the correct format. And the academic was disappointed that the Leganto list didn’t demonstrate the referencing in the correct style. So we would propose that under the title of the resource in the Leganto list, the reference for the resource would be listed in APA6 (or probably APA7 now) format. Ideally it would be like Endnote – where we input the data in the…10 votes
