  1. Language as part of a citation - duplicate

This is a duplicate of an existing Idea. The original Idea has status Accepted, but Ex Libris will not implement this without some more traction of the idea. You can't vote for an Idea with status Accepted, thus a duplicate.

We would like that the language of the document to be part of the citations. In a non-english speaking country as Norway there are political interest to see how much of the reading are in Norwegian and how much that are in other languages.

Language is a part of the records in Alma, and also for the records that are…

  2. Add "keep both" option for citation replacement (new edition) feature

The new feature (April 2023) could be used for suggesting alternative titles not just newer editions.

There use cases where the instructor wants to retain the current item and the suggested item.

A "keep both" button that inserts the suggested item into the list immediately after the current item would enhance this new feature.

  3. The system don't sort correctly the citations without principal author

When we order a list by author, If you don't have a princial author, it does it wrong. We would like it to be possible to order taking into account field 700 "Additional person name".

At this time, if there is no principal author, it orders it randomly and it is not a behavior that we want.

  4. Email notification function for mark as broken

I'm writing about Leganto's "mark as broken" feature.
Since it is difficult for librarians to notice when a user marks as broken, we request a function that sends email notifications in real time.

  5. 'No List Expected' to show in Leganto

Really like the 'No list expected' feature in ALMA, but it would be even better if it reflected in Leganto as well for the user.

So if this is checked in ALMA, in Leganto it would state something like 'There is no Reading List for the course by design' to differentiate from ones where the List is still in 'Draft' or hasn't been created / has been un-associated or deleted (possibly by accident).

  6. Secure access to restricted image files via the thumbnail

Guest users are able to access restricted image files via the thumbnail.

When the institution has specifically restricted access to files, then guest users should not be able to view or download the file.

However, for images, Leganto creates a thumbnail which is visible to guests. Worse than this, if the user right clicks the thumbnail they can then view or save the image file.

This is a breach of the security configuration and may infringe copyright or permissions for use of the image.

We would expect that for guests (or signed-in users who are restricted (eg. not a student…

  7. Change the message students see when clicking an LTI link if a course deliberately has no reading list

When students click an LTI link for a course with no reading list associated, they currently see a message saying that there is no reading list for the module. This message also displays even when the course has been marked as deliberately having no reading list.

This means students do not know whether there is deliberately no reading list, or whether one should be expected, and they have to contact their tutor or the Library to find out, causing needless confusion.

We would like the text of the message to be different if there is deliberately no reading list, so…

  8. Move multiple citations to another section on a reading list

When editing/updating reading lists, it would be useful to be able to move multiple items to another section of a reading list in bulk, for example by updating the 'Edit Multiple Items' function to include a move action, alongside a dropdown for the user to be able to select which section to move the citations to.

  9. Fix citations reverting to older editions when added from the 'Rialto search scope' in Leganto

The current problem occurs when we use the Rialto search scope in Leganto to find a new edition of a book, and we already hold previous edition(s) of the same title. When we add the title to the reading list, it associates to the ISBN of previous editions and the citation reverts to an older held version. This is the opposite of what we want it to do, we want it to be used to highlight where a new edition is available so we can begin a purchase of this new content - which would be in ProQuest's interests too!

  10. Add option to edit source URLs in bulk

The option to manually add static URLs to citations is extremely helpful. We use it in various ways, but mainly to point users directly to the resource when it is not possible to do it automatically. However, managing manually added URLs is a nightmare due to the lack of functionality in this area. Whenever an URL needs to be changed (e.g. an EZproxy prefix has to be removed etc.), it must be changed manually.

We would like to have a possibility to search for and replace/delete part of the citation's source URL by running a job on a set of…

  11. Citation creation date and operator should always reflect the most recent action - even when copying citations

Currently there is a significant problem with how Citation Creation Date works in Alma/Leganto.

The citation creation date and operator details should always reflect the most recent action - even when copying citations.
Currently the date is not updated from the original creation, even if a list has been copied by way of list rollover, and then copied, so the date will not reflect the reality of when and who actually did it - this prevents accurate counting of citation creation due to copying, and thus accurate measurement of total citation creation activity, and impedes regular reporting based on creation…

  12. Automatic status according to material type

At the moment it's possible to define automatic statuses for a bunch of citation types (electronic, digital, resolved, resource located, etc.)

What we not yet have is a parameter allowing us to decide the citation status according to material type.

For example: We'd like citations of type website, audio, database, other, video, etc.) to be set to 'Complete' automatically because this would spare us a lot of time and work as those are not citations we check up on as library.

This could be solved via a new parameter in the 'Course Reserves Automatic Statuses' table with the parameter value…

  13. My Collection enhancements

Our instructors are big fans of My Collection but they are missing features that are available for lists:

    1) Sections or folders. Having tags is nice but in no way the same thing

    2) Drag & Drop citations to re-order the list. Goes together with 1) - at the moment there is no way to bring structure to My Collection which makes it cluttered and takes the joy out of working with it.

    3) Separate the menu options into "Suggest item for a list" and "Add item to a list" so that there is a clear distinction between adding something…

We are closing this idea. Parts 3-6 are available in the new UI. Please open a new idea if you would like additional changes after using Favorites in the new UI.

  14. Add option to add multilingual 'Guided Videos' links

There is only one Video URL field in the Guided Videos mapping table. We are a bilingual library and users switch the interface depending on which language they wish to use.

To add bilingual guided videos to Leganto, the only option we have is to add Welsh and English links in the same table so that users will see a long list of both options rather than just the links that correspond to their preferred language.

We would like to see an option to add multilingual video links.

  15. Bulk updating of citations across reading lists

    Situation
One of our tasks in checking reading lists is ensuring that the version of each title is the latest edition. Acquisitions staff will check book citations on a reading list and, if there is a newer edition available, purchase and replace the citation on the list with this new version.

    Problem
When a specific title is used on multiple lists, Acquisitions staff are having to manually identify all citations using this title, add the newer edition to the reading list, and remove the older edition from the reading list.

Staff are also having to manually transfer any specific reading/public/resource…

  16. List/Course status = No list by choice

There are many courses that, for a variety of reasons, intentionally do not have reading lists. The fact that this is deliberate is not immediately obvious though, and confusion can arise when people expect there to be a list connected to the course.

Students might wonder if they are doing something wrong, librarians might have to keep separate spreadsheets to note which ones are supposed to be empty and instructors might be confused when asked to make lists in their LMS.

For these courses, there should be some way to identify that the absence of any lists is by design…

  17. Make the "Disable Resolving" feature in the Citation details reportable in analytics

Please make the "Disable Resolving" feature (from the Citation details tab in Alma) reportable in the Course Reserves area of Analytics.
This would allow institutions to ensure appropriate citations have resolving disabled. This is essential in cases where publishers do not allow direct linking in any way to their content for course readings.
It would also allow institutions to do a tidy-up of citations which required resolving disabled at some stage but where it's no longer required.

  18. Identifying hidden links within Leganto citations in Alma/Leganto or analytics

There is an option in Leganto citations to hide a link. There is no obvious way to identify all the links that have been hidden.

Usecase - we noticed that some links have appeared in citations that shouldn't be there. A member of staff uses the function Hide the link when they come across one, which removes the link from student display of the reading list in Leganto.
There is currently no means to identify all the links in reading lists that have been hidden - we need to identify them at a later date to decide what further actions…

  19. Allow file uploads to be visible to students regardless of citation status

Currently a citation has to be ‘Complete’ for an uploaded file to be visible to students.

We use 'Course Reserves Automatic Statuses' to change citation statuses from 'Complete' if tags or metadata are edited. This means that students won't be able to view a file if a tutor edits or tags the citation. Library staff can set citations back to complete but are only available in Mon-Fri, 9-5, so students may lose access for several days at a weekend.

We're currently trialling the 'Social readings' feature where students can highlight and add comments to documents, but the risk of students…

  20. Enable possibility to create deep-links /search-box for Leganto

We would like to be able to create a link to predefined searches for courses in Leganto. For example a link that gives you all of the courses from Spring 2022 that covers economy.

Leganto should support something like this:
    https://[BASEURL]/leganto/rl/search/find/lists?academicDep=ALL&courseCode=&courseName=&courseStatus=ALL&description=economy&direction=asc,asc&instructors=&listName=&publicationStatus=PUBLISHED&sortOrder=code,rlnamesort&term=SPRING&year=2022

Leganto use this functionality internally and you could create a response that provides a JSON-response.

It should be added an url-syntax that instead of the JSON converts this to be presented as a regular search-result within Leganto.

This is an example of a JSON-URL
    https://[BASEURL]/leganto/rl/search/find/lists?academicDep=ALL&courseCode=&courseName=&courseStatus=ALL&description=%C3%B8konomi&direction=asc,asc&instructors=&listName=&publicationStatus=PUBLISHED&sortOrder=code,rlnamesort&term=SPRING&year=2022

The functionality should support the same parameters/fields as in the…
