New UI - allow institutions to hide "Hide from students/student note/due date" from *all* citation views
In the June 2024 release we were given the option to hide the "Hide from students/student note/due date" (in any combination) from the quick edit view of a citation. But, regardless of the setting you choose, all the options are still visible in the full details/citation URL view of a citation.
We would like to hide the "Hide from students" option everywhere to stop instructors from hiding citations. We find that instructors forget to unhide items, or don't unhide them in enough time for students to access items (especially disabled students who need time to request alternative formats).
We'd like the option to hide "Hide from students/student note/due date" from all areas of the UI, not just the quick edit view.
We will add this in Q4 2024

I totally agree, and if you think that also the "start date" and "end date" fields should be hidden when creating a new section, please have a look at the new Idea I recently added.

Totally agree with all. We do encourage instructors to use the Student Note but definitely not the Hide or the Due date features and the latter dominate the view.

I hadn't realised this didn't work in the full view either - thanks for highlighting. I can only see this confusing academics and students as to what is actually being hidden and why. It would be great if this could be added to the full view without anyone having to use any votes.

I hadn't realised that this still showed in Full Details, thanks for pointing it out. I agree that we should be able to configure this for both displays.

Yes please - also just submitted similar feedback about this. They are at the top of the edit options and take up a lot of space which looks as if it is encouraging academics to use them. We'd rather they didn't have the option to hide things from students, and would rather not include due dates either as we don't roll over lists and instead keep one 'living list', so dates can become confusing if the list isn't actively maintained. We'd rather just keep the actions to tag, student note and digitisation request.

We've just created a new idea to allow these options to be disabled in all views of a citation (currently they can only be disabled in the quick edit view). The idea can be found here if anyone else is interested: https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/395697-leganto/suggestions/48511571-new-ui-allow-institutions-to-hide-hide-from-stu

I'm really glad to see this is progressing but is there any way we could get it in Q2 instead of Q3? Thanks, Kael

I am also concerned about the positioning of 'due date' and 'hide from students' in the item actions tab on the new UI- it's too prominent. We don't use 'due date' so instructors won't know what this means. I can see a situation where instructors hide a citation from students and add a due date thinking that this is the date when the citation will be visible to students (although we try to discourage this, we know some instructors like to 'release' readings to students in stages). I'd be keen to see the option to disable both on the new UI.

We want to be able to deactivate the due date field and the “hide” check button in the “Information for students” section when adding a citation using a Manual Entry or when adding a citation through the “search the library” function.
Once published, our citations must always be visible to all students. At our institution, Leganto Lists are mandatory for all our instructors because students should always have access to the lists and the ones that refer to previous academic years. If an instructor assigns a due date or hides a citation, it would be a problem for students who have to take exams in later years.
