  2. Provide an option for users to see all items in an electronic collection

Alma allows us to make the bib record for an electronic collection like Wiley e-Books viewable by customers in Primo. We would like the contents of the electronic collection to be displayed when the user clicks on the electronic collection name in Primo.

  3. Pre-load images

Patrons have reported latency for loading search results in Primo. And our observation shows that:
    - Images are always loaded at the last and it normally take a few seconds to be loaded completely
    - The thumbnails are likely meaningful only for books (book covers) while other types are loaded with default icons
Our suggestion: Pre-load image for non-book items (e.g., article, video and etc) in hope to improve user experience with search.

  4. Use non-LC call numbers for journal categories

This affects Primo/PrimoVE; but the job is in Alma.

The new feature (as of Nov 2019) to browse a list of journals by category depends on the 050$a. This should be expanded to use the 055$a, 060$a, 070$a, 080$a, 082$a, 083$a, 084$a, 085$a, and 086$a. Additionally, libraries should be able to pick which of the subfields to use.

This is an example of the lack of support for non-LC libraries.

This idea cross-posted as Alma idea.

    Ejemplo: https://fama.us.es/discovery/browse?vid=34CBUA_US:VU1&browseQuery=historia%20de%20espa%C3%B1a&browseScope=subject.1&innerPnxIndex=-1&numOfUsedTerms=-1&fn=BrowseSearch

  6. Allow more than four fields to display in the Brief Record Display

Please allow more than 4 fields to display in the brief record display. We would like Course Informaton to display for our Course Reserves. Why is there a limit? We should be able to add as many fields as we would like to the brief record display.

  7. Is there anyway that all holdings can be displayed in a "paragraph" format, instead of a line-by-line format.

At present time, Primo displays some holdings records in "paragraph" format, and others in line-by-line format. This is inconsistent, and makes the catalog appear sloppy. When items are in the line-by-line format it becomes time consuming to have to scroll down to find out if an institution holds an item. It would be much better for all holdings to appear in the "paragraph" format and this would then give a much needed consistency to the catalog.

  8. Display order: side by side instead of top-down

In Primo, allow the option to display to show print and electronic results side-by-side instead of one after the other. Also apply to link resolver results.
(Currently using Alma and Primo, not Primo VE.)

  9. future publication date

Allow users to search for items with publication dates beyond the current year. It is not uncommon for libraries to have items in their collection with publication dates set in the future. However, these items cannot be found using the date filter because Primo rejects as invalid any year beyond the current one. This enhancement would remove that restriction.

  10. Don't filter out Primo Central records after clicking Library facets

On a blended scope, when you search in the scope and click a library facet, all the Primo Central records are filtered out because Primo Central records do not have facets:library values in PNX. For example,

    (1) Go to our Primo:

    http://kosmos.lib.keio.ac.jp/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?vid=KEIO

    (2) For your convenience, click "English" as UI language on the upper-right corner.

    (3) On the "All materials" tab, search "cancer" (without quotes). The "All materials" scope is a blended scope that contains both local records and Primo Central records.

    (4) On the Library facets, click any library.

Then all the Primo Central records are filtered out. But…

  11. bX: Display dates for recommended articles in Primo VE brief results

Article dates do not display in brief results related to bX article recommendations. The dates display in the bX sidebar, but when a user clicks on a bX recommended title, the date is missing from the brief results. It was noted that this configuration is currently hard coded and not configurable.

  13. an "I Want It" button

The Penn State library has an “I want it” feature in its catalog, in the search results. It struck me as very direct and to the point. When you click it, it prompts you to sign into their system but I assume it would take you to a request form. I don’t know why they hide it under that three dot icon. I would like to see in Primo, if possible, an “I want it” button, not buried in a menu but right next to every book title in the Primo search result. The idea being that clicking “I want…

  14. Include Course Information with Coures Icon in brief record display

We would like the option to include the Course Information (from the full record) with the Course icon for the breif record display for course reserves. This way students can quickly see the information without having to open the record.

  15. Multiple versions of Books not showing as format BOOKS

In both Primo VE and Primo when there are multiple versions of a book , it is not clear that the format is BOOKS. When the multiple version is an ARTICLE this is indicated. Can this be fixed please.

  16. Show availability of ER thanks to IP analysis

Primo could analyse the IP address of the PC accessing Primo in order to determine whether or not a electronic resource is available or not.
This would take into account the actual IP address and not the hypothetical one via campus management.
No idea if this is technically feasable.
It would diminish the frustration of patrons who click on electronic resources shown as available but the destination page wants 35 dollars to access the resource (because the patron is in the wrong IP range).

  17. Ability to set Primo into read-only mode (e.g. for closing times)

It would be nice to have a comfortable ability to set Primo into read-only mode (= customers can not make an order) like a button or checkbox in the backend.
Reason: many institutions have closing times in summer (for revision, etc.) and the customers should not be able to make an order. Another reasons are major system changes (e.g. switch from Aleph to Alma) where read-only mode is mandatory.

Until now (classic and new UI) we avoid orders by modifying the CSS file (by using 'display:none;' in several places).

  18. Add Library pre-filter to Primo VE Advanced Search

It would be helpful if users could pre-scope their search to a particular library in the advanced search, rather than waiting to filter with the post-search facets.

  19. Separate Library selection and Personal Delivery Address in Getit pop-up

We have configured Alma so all Personal Delivery requests go to a central library. Need to modify Getit so patrons cannot select a Library and also enter a personal delivery address i.e. separate Library pickup from Personal Delivery.
