  1. Search Loans within user Account

We have users who would like to be able to search within their list of currently checked out items. At present, the only options are (1) export the list of loans to BibTeX or RIS and search them in another program, or (2) sort by checkout date or title. When faculty have 400 items checked out, neither of these options is feasible. They would like a search box option within their account to search across all the items they have checked out.

  2. Resource Recommender / searchable tags / language code table

If you want to use the Resource Recommender feature in more languages than just English, you have to put all tags into the "Searchable Tags" box of the English interface. If you change to another language, the box is greyed out and can't be edited.

I would like to suggest an overhaul of this part of the RR to make the "Searchable Tags" just as avaible for other languages as title and description are.

  3. Make user-created tags keyword searchable.

Currently, user-created tags are findable via the tag portal in the Ellipsis, or they can be searched in the Advanced Search by specifying the tag field. We would like to be able to make them keyword searchable in the basic search.

  4. Change wording of "partial results found" error message

Currently when users enter too many boolean operatoCurrently when users enter too many boolean operators or trucation symbols in their search they will get the error message "Partial results found. Please note additional results may be available by refining your search. May we suggest: try reducing the numbers of ? and/or * in your search."

This error message is confusing. What it should really say is something like this:
"Your truncated search terms match too many words. The search cannot retrieve all of them so some records you might expect might be missing from the search results. If you can…

  5. Dedup process - Create Additional data PNX fied based on prefered record

In dedup process, all fields from Additional Data section are merged and duplicate fields are removed. This design choice cause some issues with Citation service. When you merge records from differents sources, there is a strong possibility that data are not exactly the same and some data are duplicated. This problem may often be solved by choosing fields from prefered records as it is the case for display section

  6. Preferred Primo Central record should be “Full text available”

“Full text available” records should be ranked higher when determining the preferred record in Primo Central FRBR groups. This is the preferable behavior since this facilitates access to full text of articles for users. Thanks!

  7. Reinstate timeout url in Primo New UI

We would like Primo to timeout to our Library home page instead of the Primo homepage. This was possible in the Classic UI but is not available in the new UI. Please make the Timeout URL option work in the new UI

  8. Sorting in My Bookshelf

Currently My Bookshelf doesn't offer any functionality to allow you to order items.

It would be useful to be able to order items e.g. by Title, Author, Added, Type etc.

  9. Add filter to eliminate items already pinned from search results

Provide a filter that would eliminate items that are already 'pinned' from the search results so that when people have many items pinned and they search on their topic, they have the ability to view only the items they haven't already pinned.
(Our graduate students really like the pinning feature.)

  10. Ensure a title level general hold request only activates a request on the relevant holdings and campus for correctly affilated patrons.

This crosses Alma and Primo but it surfaces as an issue for us mostly in Primo.
Currently general hold requests are not checked against terms of use. So Primo/Alma applies the request to all holdings regardless of whether the patron can borrow the item or not.
As an institution with two distinct campuses (NHS and University) we have issues with requests where some of the holdings have no items attached.
For example we have a journal that has holdings at several libraries at both the NHS and Cardiff University campuses. Some of these holdings do not have any items attached. …

  11. Cutting and Pasting Search Strategies following a PRIMO search

As a reference librarian, I regularly include a copy of a my strategy with a hypertext link to the search in an email or Google Doc. There is a nice summary of the strategy above the search in PRIMO, but I can't copy it well; it needs a lot of editing if pasted.

In my search history, it is a hyper-link and when I highlight it to copy, it tends to re-run the link.

The alternatives are too share a link (the links too searches are too long -- a short link may work) or to do a screen capture…

  12. Create facets for more MaRC fields (Location and Format)

Right now in our Aleph-Primo system, we cannot search for books in Primo with the specificity we need and are used to in the Aleph OPAC. Location or loan period and format (within books) would help our patrons.

We regularly have patrons ask for "books they can take home," i.e. physical, non-reserve books. Filters could allow us to produce these results. We also can't easily pull up just physical books or just books from our special K-12 collection (which have a unique location and loan period).

Whether you add the ability to include any MaRC fields or just these particular…

  13. Suppress dedup/FRBR for external records in Primo VE

Following the introduction of support for FRBR and dedup for external records in the February Primo VE release, it should be possible to apply suppress rules for FRBR and dedup to external data, in the same way you currently can for local records.

  14. Ability to restrict number of characters displayed in Description field

In the Detailed Results, it would be good to have the ability to configure the Description field so that it displays only a certain number of characters by default, while also allowing users to expand the field to get the full description (similar to the way the Summary field in Syndetics Unbound works).

  15. Include the 776 field in ISBN matching when deduping books

Deduping of books would be improved if the deduping algorithm included the 776 field in ISBN matching. Currently, the algorithm only checks the 020 field for ISBN. In many cases, an electronic version of a book has the print ISBN in the 776 field, which would allow for a match of the electronic 776 to the print 020. The February VE release included an improvement that allowed the 776 field to be used when matching journal ISSNs, but it is still not being used when matching book ISBNs.

  16. Calculate item level availability

For most Primo Central Index collections, availability status in Primo is based on your activated portfolio holdings in Alma. These holdings calculate availability at the publication-level based on the coverage entered.

Currently it is not possible to calculate availability in a way that recognizes item-level exceptions, such as when aggregator sources do not receive certain article types ('secondary' articles, brief articles, reviews, etc.) from the original publisher.

The proposed idea is to calculate availability at the item-level.

  17. loan history lookup option

Loan history lookup options, such as, a search box, a year select box or a slider (of the return date), would be helpful for the users having hundreds of loan history records.

  18. "XML View" in "Send to" section of record display

Librarians often need to look "under the hood" of what is being displayed in the OPAC. It would be great if "Send to" section of the record display included a link for displaying the PNX record.

  19. Display item(s) cost in patron loan letters or My Account to show savings.

We'd like to be able to let patrons know how much money they saved by using the library as opposed to paying for books themselves. To do this, we'd like to be able to display item cost information (such as from the POL in Alma) for items loaned either in the Loan Letter or in the patron's account.

  20. Enable configuration of Permalinks to open a tab that gives access to an item

Permalinks currently open into the detail tab in Primo.

Our users have expressed a preference for the permalink to open into a screen which would give them access to the item i.e. either the getit or view it tab.
