  1. Search Slot/Scope/Profile Usage in Primo Analytics

We would like to be able to report the total number of searches that have been performed in each search/slot/scope/profile that we have configured in Primo. Currently the only report in Analytics that has Search Scope search information is the Zero Results Report.

This information will provide invaluable information about our user behaviour and will help us in the customization of the Primo interface to meet the needs of our clients by assisting in decisions regarding adding or removing search profiles/scopes.

  2. Primo Analytics - Ability to report on all search strings, not just Popular and Zero Results

Primo Analytics currently only includes search string data for Popular and Zero Results subject areas. It would be a vast improvement to be able to see all search string results.
Note: This functionality is available via BIRT, but only by individual reports by first letter of the alphabet, which are unwieldy and essentially unusable in loading so slowly (and often not at all).

  3. DEDUP/FRBR data in Primo VE analytics

DEDUP/FRBR data in Primo VE analytics isn't available. It is available in standard Primo.

This would be useful for identifying issues around records that aren't matching.

Apparently Primo PNX records and pipes subject area are not available for Primo VE customers as yet.

  4. Add "Locate" link to Primo Analytics

We would like to find out how often users are clicking on the Locate item within the Primo VE record to view the map where the item is located; this is the label nui.locations.locate in the ViewIt table. Ex Libris support has confirmed that this link currently cannot be tracked in Primo Analytics because there is not a beacon call associated with the link. We would like to request that the Locate link be added to Primo Analytics tracking.

  5. Primo Analytics - add the ability to monitor availability link clicks by availability category

Currently usage statistics may be generated using the "Click on availability statement" Analytics action, however there is no way to differentiate clicks on say, "Available at" (for physical resources) and "Check online access".

We would like the ability to extract availability clicks by category:

    Check online access
    Available at
    No full text
    etc.

    General use cases:

To help us decide what types of links should display where and in what order in Primo.

    More specific use case:

To help us understand how patrons are accessing electronic resources. For instance, we have added the BrowZine PDF fulltext link to Primo. We…

  6. Provide Statistics about use of Primo Central Collections

It would be great if we can asses the usage of our licensed content via Primo. This will be valuable for our licensing decisions, as well it would be interesting for the hosts (Thomson Reuters, ProQuest...).

For instance, we like to know:

    • how often users view metadata (i.e. open details tab) of records from ProQuest's Collection for Dissertations & Theses

    • what is the ratio of view metadata to request fulltexts from the collection?

    • which providers (Thomson Reuters, ProQuest, ...) are used most (view + download), what are the top collections of each provider?

  8. Adding unique user data to Primo Analytics

Idea: To be able to use Primo Analytics to create a report of unique users who have used Primo (logged into Primo) in a specific time period, for example in a month.

Reason: Currently in Primo Analytics, the 'session' and 'sign in' parameters count the overall numbers and not unique user numbers. This means that there is no option to check the unique users per Primo identifier for a specific period.

  9. Resource Recommender

Resource Recommender - It would be great if we can get information on which resource recommender is being used in number of times. For example - we have resource recommenders for the New York Times - would like to see if the resource recommenders for this specific resource are being used. We were hoping to gather that the kind of detail.

    Thank you

  10. Primo Analytics: ability to report on Primo API usage

Idea: Ability to report on Primo API usage (e.g. number of searches, search terms and source of API calls).

Include usage of Primo Front End and API as part of Primo Analytics so that both can be aggregated and analysed.

Developer Network API Analytics is not sufficient and does not provide the essential information we are looking for, e.g. search terms.

  12. A report of "full text available" records in Primo Central for each institution

It would be great to be able to get a report of the institutional holdings that have been matched to records in Primo Central, so that they are indexed as "full text available" for the institution. This would enable libraries to see which active portfolios in each SFX KB target / Alma CZ collection are indexed at all in Primo Central, and how much of the holdings of each serial are indexed. Libraries could then use this to indicate to users which journals and collections cannot be found in Primo Central. It would also be useful to see gaps in…

  14. Access by IP-Ranges : add criteria in Primo Analytics

Primo Analytics should support IP ranges as a filter criteria in the usage reports. This will enhance our statistics, for instance:

    • how much usage is generated by certain libraries?
    • how many patrons use primo off-campus or via VPN?
    • are there users not affiliated with the university?
    • what is the percentage of usage generated by library staff?
    • etc.

The IP ranges might be taken from the backoffice configuration
Primo Home > Ongoing Configuration Wizards > Institution Wizard > Edit IPs

Please support this idea as we think this will lead to a clearer picture of our Primo users.

  15. Improve Analytics support for user-created tags in Primo/Primo VE.

We would like to better understand the impact of user-created tags on user behavior, particularly as we (staff) use tags to help identify material in our collections. Specifically we would like to see the following information:
How frequently do people search using tags?
*How many searches are conducted through the tag portal (available in the ellipsis)
*How many times do people click on tags within records and thus get to the full listing of records with that tag applied

Can we cross-reference items that have tags with their item use?

A report showing all the tags being used/searched.

  17. Enhance Primo Analytics Facet Usage by expanding Facet Values

Primo Analytics currently only provides data on Facet Values for two Facet Types: Top Level and Resource Type, with data such as Available in Library, Available Online, Articles, Books, etc.
This granular level of data on user behavior is very valuable and influences our decision making for both our services and system configuration.
It would be wonderful to have this extended also to other Facet Types, including Creation Date, Collection, Author, Topic, New Records, and Journal.

  18. Implement "Scheduled report to FTP server" feature for Primo Analytics

We would like to request for "Scheduled report to FTP server" feature to be implemented for Primo Analytics, so we could schedule the Primo data in Power BI Reports/Dashboards to be automatically refreshed.

Power BI is the enterprise solution for data visualisation in UNSW. Currently Ex Libris does not seem to support the connection between Analytics (OBIEE) and Power BI (e.g. via Web Data Connector). Instead of manually exporting data from Primo Analytics and uploading it to Power BI, we need to find a better way to automatically update the data in Power BI Reports/Dashboard.

    If we can schedule Primo…

  19. Improve and standardize the Dates folder in all the Primo Subject Areas

The following are available in the Dates folder for Primo Action Usage, Primo Device Usage, Primo Facet Usage, Primo Sessions, Primo Zero Search Results and Primo Pipes:

    Year (date)
    Year
    Year (desc)
** all three are the same format: YYYY
    ** why are there three?

    Month (date)
    Month (short desc)
** these two are the same format: Mon YYYY
    ** why are there two?
** shouldn't "Month (date)" really be Month (as in January, February, March, etc)?

    Month (long desc)
** uses the Month YYYY format.
    ** why?

    Month (number)
    ** displays as expected

    Week (date)
    ** uses Mon DD

  20. Allow analytics to display what resources are most selected after a certain search query

It would be great to see which resources are most selected after a certain search query.

This wouldn't even have to be an exhaustive list-- even just seeing the top three selected results for the top 100 search strings would help us better tailor recommendations (particularly in Resource Recommender) for popular search terms.
