  2. My Account - Previous and Historic Loans

For privacy reasons, many libraries disable the tracking of historic loans.

But when a client is signed into Primo, has items on their account, and goes to the Loans page of My Account, there is a drop-down with an option to choose to display either "active loans" or "previous and historic loans". It is redundant to have that second option there, since we have disabled it. There should be a way in Primo Back Office to hide that.

  3. display call number and/or barcode in list of fines

If a book is on overdue patrons tend to call the library and staff asks for barcode or call number. Unfortunately the user does not see this in its list of loans (New UI). Also, some users loan books with very similar titles, e.g. different editions and asks themselves which edition has lead to overdue and needs to be returned.

  4. Option to e-mail clients Saved Searches

It will be very useful to share Saved Searches with another client by having an e-mail option available in the My Favourites > Saved Searches section in Primo, in the same way the e-mail option is available for Saved Records.

  5. Search with 'OR' using DeepLinks

Query params in a deep-search are correlated with "AND" by default. It is not possible to correlate two query params of a deep link with a boolean OR.

This feature could be very useful, for instance if you want to search for an author including variant spelling (think of Primo Central Index). Or to query multiply keywords via a single Deep Link.

  6. Add autocomplete to embedded search tile/box

When setting up a Primo search tile or search box to embed in a library's website it would be great if it were possible to enable autocomplete in the embedded search box/tile so that it works the same way as it does in the Primo interface.

This would help library users enormously.

  7. Allow Lateral Links to Perform a Browse Search

Our library consortium would like to have the links in the details section of the record display bring the user to the browsable index. That way, if a record has a subject of "Library catalogs", the user would get a list of clickable subject headings with subdivisions so as to either find more records with the same subject or records with a more narrow focus:

    Library catalogs
Library catalogs and readers [see Library catalogs and users]
    Library catalogs and users
    Library catalogs and users--Australia--PErth (W.A.)
    Library catalogs and users--Bibliography.
    Library catalogs and users--Case studies.
    Library catalogs and users--Congresses
    etc.

  8. Give us a way to brute force boosting any record in Alma with a local field

We have to break the rules of cataloging to add fields to get certain important titles that should ALWAYS be first in a relevance sort to show up at the top. Give us a local field to use in a bib record to always ensure a boost to the top (similar to what we can do to "top" a particular collection to offer in direct linking).

  9. Allow for integration with the PaperPile citation manager to Primo VE

PaperPile is a citation manager that integrates with Google Docs. We'd love to see citations that are available to be scraped by it in Primo.

  10. "Did you mean" has no option for selecting, "No."

A librarian submitted the following question:

"If you do a search in the catalog for Andrew Lyght (he's an artist), you get the message "Do you mean Andrew Light?" and a whole bunch of results that have lyght spelled "light". There is no option to say "No, I mean Lyght."

I think the Google-like functionality of "did you mean..." is a good
direction to go in, but there needs to be an option to respond to that question, especially when what the catalog is guessing is wrong. Overall, this isn't a helpful implementation as it currently works."

  11. Add call # and ISBN search categories for "advanced search" in primo.

Often students have been given a Call Number or just an ISBN for a book and Primo makes searching for these difficult. Additionally sometimes it is necesary to cross check a title with a call number. These categories should be accessible in the Advanced search area (and call # category could not be only accessible in the search browser).

  12. Acquire SpringShare and integrate LibGuides functionality into Primo UI.

LibGuides and the other SpringShare components provide supplemental functionality for many libraries. Many Primo customers are pointing to LibGuides for things like Database Search/A-Z, content management, and subject guides. Acquiring that resource would allow Ex Libris to incorporate the product into Primo and would allow Ex Libris to integrate the product into the secure architecture and FedRAMP approved architecture.

  13. [Primo] - allow to set up a default view, i.e. the landing view for the user when view ID is missing or mistyped

Right now the 'default' view in Primo is the 'out of the box' view, named 'default', which is normally used as template by user for creating the View actually in use. And that's fine.
But the customer should be allowed to define which view sahll be used as default View in the Primo instance. Current feature "Session timeout URL" is not enough.
    - In case for example of mistyping the URL, the system leads to the 'default/otb' view.
    - If a View is deleted but a user has a bookmark, again the system leads to the 'default/otb' view.

    It should…

  14. OAI Pipe date options to facilitate CONTENTdm automated harvesting

We would like our pipe that harvests the OAI feed from CONTENTdm to run automatically either weekly or monthly.

However it is a known bug with CONTENTdm that if the collection is large, and if a small date range is used with the OAI data feed, then the process is likely to hang. The current workaround with Ex Libris is to manually set the start date to 100 years ago, and then run the pipe.

The enhancement I would like is enhancing the pipe configuration to either add

a.) A checkbox which adds the option of not automatically updating the start…

  15. Set default encoding level for Export RIS in New UI

In the New Primo User Interface the Export RIS functionality requires users to select an encoding level.
In the classic UI UTF-8 was selected by default.
Can the default encoding level please be an option in the New UI.
Many of our users are confused by which encoding level to select, and we would like to present them with a default option selected to help ease the confusion.

  16. Ensure a title level general hold request only activates a request on the relevant holdings and campus for correctly affilated patrons.

This crosses Alma and Primo but it surfaces as an issue for us mostly in Primo.
Currently general hold requests are not checked against terms of use. So Primo/Alma applies the request to all holdings regardless of whether the patron can borrow the item or not.
As an institution with two distinct campuses (NHS and University) we have issues with requests where some of the holdings have no items attached.
For example we have a journal that has holdings at several libraries at both the NHS and Cardiff University campuses. Some of these holdings do not have any items attached.…

  17. Modify BackOffice to Clearly Identify Old UI vs New UI components and methods.

It is very frustrating to have documentation that leads you down one path in Backoffice, only to later find out that the path is only applicable to the old UI and has no effect on the new UI. Modify the configuration wizard to clearly identify things as new UI or old UI. Ideally, BackOffice would react to the checkbox for New UI and only show me choices that are applicable to the new UI.

  18. My Account - Loans & Requests: Bibliographical Details of ILL article requests

Currently, users cannot see the full bibliographical details of their Resource Sharing "Article" Requests in their account,. Although all the details appear in Alma, in Primo the Journal Title, Year, Volume, Issue and Pages are missing - so in fact they can only see the Article Title and Author in the Full View mode.

Obviously, this is not very helpful for citation purposes or even for tracking orders - especially if there are many similar requests.

    Thanks

  19. new option/checkbox: "expand my results with synonyms"

The Primo Search Engine includes synonyms by default to expand the result list. This often leads to results which are fuzzy and hardly explainable.

Instead of including synonyms by default we want to see an option to include synonyms by explicit user decision.

This option ("expand my result using synonyms") could be included into the facets section or should be visible close to the search button.

  20. Create link for patron to report issue with Primo Central Record

This idea comes from a ticket submitted by a professor last week regarding a journal article resource that was marked as "peer reviewed" in PCI incorrectly. She reported it to us and we reported it to ExLibris, but it would seem more efficient to include a link that could report the problem directly to ExLibris for PCI content. I imagine something similar to the "report an issue" link found in google books: https://www.screencast.com/t/BdLZo2tR6D
