  1. Add enabling/disabling OpenURL as option in Direct Linking Configuration

Some libraries (like mine) would appreciate the ability to disable direct linking for incoming OpenURL searches while enabling direct linking for other functions (such as direct linking from results list). We would like this flexibility because we find that direct linking from the results list saves the time of our users, but direct linking from incoming OpenURL searches is more confusing. We don't want to have to turn off direct linking altogether to help solve this confusion, but have no choice with current settings. Other libraries may desire the opposite settings: disabling direct linking from results list but enabling for…

  2. To have a “Saved Query” feature at the top of the search results at Journal Search page

Currently, only the general search has this "Saved Query" feature in the search result. We would like to have this feature when searching at Journal Search page too.

  3. Items with item policy "noncirculating" should not display as "loanable" in Primo VE

We have many titles that do not circulate, but because they are available on the shelf, Primo VE displays them as "loanable." This may confuse patrons into thinking that these items can be loaned, when they are not allowed to leave the library.

  4. Indent newspaper search under Source Type limiters

Indent the "Newspapers search" link under the "Source Type" limiter to bring it in line with the other listed source types (e.g. Articles, Reivews, Books, etc.).

As it currently displays, without being indented, it appears that all of the source types listed below are sub-sets of the Newspapers search.

    Ejemplo: https://fama.us.es/discovery/browse?vid=34CBUA_US:VU1&browseQuery=historia%20de%20espa%C3%B1a&browseScope=subject.1&innerPnxIndex=-1&numOfUsedTerms=-1&fn=BrowseSearch

  7. In Primo VE, in the Get It service in full record display

In Primo VE, in the Get It service in full record display add real-time availability summary, for example: (4 copies, 1 available, 0 requests) to the OTB top level display for each Location.
Currently, the user has to click on the Location to see availability information.
This development would bring VE in step with Primo.

  8. Primo VE: add option to mark all Display Fields for Search and Facet

Primo VE has a standard out of the box mapping of Display Fields, Search Fields and Facets (see https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/050Other_Configuration/Mapping_to_the_Display%2C_Facets%2C_and_Search_Sections_in_the_Primo_VE_Record). Customers cannot adapt or create Search fields and Facets. This is only possible now for Local Fields. I don't understand why this is not possible. Please provide options to mark Display Fields for Search and Facet and to create Search Fields and Facets, just like for Local Fields.

  9. Changing the language in Primo should also update the preferred language in Alma

We have a mix of users with different languages at our university, but we cannot get a reliable language setting from the SIS feed. Therefore it is important that the users can edit the language preference themself to get letters from the library in the correct language.

Today, changing the language in Primo only changes the interface language in Primo, but we would like it to also update the preferred language in Alma.

  10. Prevent OTB icons from loading before custom icons

Although Primo customers have the option of using custom resource type icons, the out-of-the-box icons still load momentarily before being replaced by the custom icons. This enhancement would prevent the OTB icons from loading for customers who opt to use their own icons.

  11. Block free text input functon in Resource Sharing Form

When users request items with multiple volumes in the resource sharing form (NERS Enhancement - Request ID #4856), they can select a specific volume from the pull down list, also freely enter the volume information in the box. Errors of manual input may lead to in inefficient or failure of handling the requests, e.g. user input “1” in the text box instead of selecting “v.1” from the list, the request can be created successfully, but the description cannot be shown in “Borrowing Requests” of Borrowing Library or “Pick from the shelf” of Lending Library, the libraries need to spend extra…

  12. Make the login help link language sensitive

In Alma Configuration it is possible to define Login page help links for Primo VE and to translate the label to another language, but it is not possible to have separate URLs for help pages in different languages.

We would like the URL to be customizable per language the same way the label is.

  13. Improve Browse by Subject (Primo VE)

In Primo VE, only one of “vocabulary” is available - “Library of Congress Subject Headings.” The choice to use this “vocabulary” is automatically made for you when you choose “Browse by Library of Congress Subject.” The index “Library of Congress name authority records for 651” is not available through this search as it is through the Metadata Editor via Alma. Thus, many, many LC subject headings cannot actually be browsed in Primo VE. Example, you can find NO headings beginning with “Colombia – Commerce,” because there is no LC subject authority for “Colombia – Commerce” or for any further subdivision…

  14. Ability to store test records for Primo VE

When you test normalization rules for external data sources in Primo VE, you need to upload your test record from your computer every time you make a change in the NR. It should be possible to store sample records for easier testing

  15. Data elements for Calculated Availability should be configurable

The Calculated Availability text is composed of Availability status + Library + location + call number .
We want to be able to configure what elements should display based on their value. For instance, we only want to display call numbers for items that are on open shelves (as determined by library and/or location value). For items in closed stacks, the call number is irrelevant to the users and only serves to clutter up the interface.

  16. Primo VE: Public names for Libraries and Locations

It would often be helpful if patron-facing names of libraries and locations were different from the staff-facing names in Alma, e.g., staff users may need to know exactly which of several "Closed stack" is in play, while this is irrelevant information for end users. So public names of Libraries and Locations should be editable through the Discovery Labels code table

  17. Hover-over article abstract in PRIMO VE

Currently, patrons need to go into the full article record from the brief results page to read abstracts. We would like to suggest that PRIMO VE provide the user with a hover-over article abstract on the brief results page so patrons can skim abstracts before going into the full record.

  18. Separate Library selection and Personal Delivery Address in Getit pop-up

We have configured Alma so all Personal Delivery requests go to a central library. Need to modify Getit so patrons cannot select a Library and also enter a personal delivery address i.e. separate Library pickup from Personal Delivery.

  19. Searching special characters Ayin or Apostrophe in Primo

In Alma, you get the same results if you include or exclude the special character ayin or apostrophe in your search terms. However, in Primo searches you need to include these special characters. If they are missing, you will not find the same result.

Ayin is used in transliterated title of items in Hebrew, Arabic, Armaic, Syriac, and Korean languages. It is not on a standard US keyboard, so it is difficult for users to include it in the search.

Apparently, Alma uses a different indexing system. We would like Primo to be able to do the same as Alma…

  20. Categorise dbs/guides/sites via Primo admin. The databases be indexed, searched or browsed for in PrimoVE customers that do not have Alma

The ability to subject categorise databases, library guides, Web sites etc via Primo admin. The databases and guides they are included in the Primo index so that the words in the title, description or keywords when searched will appear within the results. Also so the resources can browsed for in PrimoVE or Primo classic by the categories so there is not a long list to scroll through. This is for customers that do not have Alma or any library catalogue. I have seen you can currently do this only for Alma catalogue users.
