Display ORCID in asset details
Please provide the option to display and link to each creator's ORCID in the Details section of the asset page when it is present in the record. This is standard practice on many publisher websites.

Closed captioning display for video in the Asset File Viewer
The current Asset File Viewer does not display closed captioning for video files. I assumed for a while that I simply had something wrong in our display configs or in how the files were being handled. But when none of that was the problem, I opened a support case and the support tech confirmed the functionality did not exist.
This functionality feels very necessary to me with all of upcoming changes in accessibility rules & best practices. Please add the ability to display videos with their closed captions in the asset file viewer.
Cheers!

Ability to delete "researchers" in bulk
Currently, removing the "Researcher" flag or deleting a researcher, we need to search for the person in Manage researchers; click on the three dots on the right side; and then select Delete. There is no way to select several names and then delete them; or run a job to delete them.
The functionality of making someone "unaffiliated/previously affiliated" is not the appropriate solution due to the way that we are ingesting "researchers".
All university staff is pushed into Alma flagging them all automatically as a researchers resulting in having many "false" researchers.
Hence, I'm proposing to have a functionality that…

Display Project Type of ETDs more prominently
Project types of ETDs are very useful to make it clear when the final output of a student's educational career is something other than an ETD that went through our Graduate College. We have projects for Doctor of Nursing Practice, Education Doctorate Dissertation in Practice, and Doctor of Physical Therapy Case Reports. We also have very old bachelors theses, when the bachelors was a terminal degree in the discipline, but we also have Honors theses which are recent in the same disciplines. We would like the project type to display just as prominently as the subtype now does. see https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/929326-esploro/suggestions/49488992-make-subtype-display-more-prominently

DataCite integration with research resources (equipment)
Esploro currently supports landing pages for research resources (such as equipment, instruments, and facilities), which is a great step toward improving visibility and discoverability. However, these resources are not yet integrated with Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) like DOIs, which are increasingly required under national and international PID strategies (e.g., Australia’s National PID Strategy).
Assigning DOIs to research resources ensures they are treated as research objects, enabling better tracking of usage, linking to related outputs and grants, and supporting reproducibility. DataCite provides a schema for minting DOIs for resources, but Esploro lacks a direct workflow for this integration.

DataCite integration for Grants
Australia’s National Persistent Identifier (PID) Strategy — and similar strategies in other countries — emphasizes the importance of assigning DOIs to research grants and awards. This ensures grants are treated as research objects, improving transparency, discoverability, and linking between funding, outputs, and impact.
Currently, Esploro support DOIs for assets, but there is no streamlined workflow for minting DOIs for grants and creating grant landing pages. These landing pages would provide essential metadata (funder, award number, investigators, duration, amount, related outputs) and serve as the DOI target URL, aligning with DataCite requirements.

Automatic update for forthcoming article with the published date
Hi, would it be possible to have a job that automatically update the asset information once the journal article is published either by using the metadata from the DOI or from WOS Identifier? For example, to add the published date alonside the first online date, and fill in the volume and issue, as well as the pages number?
Updating the forthcoming manually is quite tedious, and I believe that it wouldn't be too difficult to automate it, as the information exists in the DOI's metadata (publish print / publish online date part)
Thanks!

Assign Smart Harvesting records
Can Smart Harvesting records be assigned to users automatically in the same way deposit records are automatically assigned?

Have date facet on researcher profile output list
Is it possible to add a date 'from-to' facet on the list of outputs on a researcher's profile? It would be nice to have a date filter for researchers with long publication lists so users can easily see what was published in a specific year or range of years.

Esploro to push Qualifications to ORCID profile
We would like Esploro-ORCID integration to push selected information in the "Education" section of their Researcher Profile into the "education and qualification section of the ORCID profile.
Currently, the integration only pushes assets and affiliations.
In our case, we give a certificate or badge to researchers upon completion of our Open Research Module.
We are able to expose that badge in the ORCID profile outside Esploro (an example of how the NASA exposed a badge can be seen https://orcid.org/0009-0000-3807-2892), but ideally we would like to push the badge via the repository.
See, for instance, Researcher Profile https://openresearch.surrey.ac.uk/esploro/profile/felix_pedrotti/overview?institution=44SUR_INST

Include records with external links in the Esploro scope for Primo VE
A new custom local data scope (Available Research – with inventory only) was introduced in the July 2025 Esploro release. This provides flexibility to add the scope in with other scopes (Alma, Digital, CDI etc.) to create a blended search profile.
This is a great addition, but we have found that the new custom local data scope only includes Esploro records which have files attached or that have a link with either institutional or null link ownership. Most of the links in our Esploro records have external link ownership and we would like them to be included in an Esploro…

Scopus integration
Can an integration be developed with researcher's Scopus IDs (similar to the ORCID integration) to enable researchers to link their Scopus accounts with Esploro and allow publications listed on Scopus which are not in Esploro to be pulled through (and with any relevant SDG information)? Many researchers rely on data and publications lists on Scopus for their promotion attempts so it would be good if Esploro could integrate more with Scopus.

Enhancements for the Portal Profile Output Screen
Please consider to add the following functionalities to the Portal Profile Output screen.
(1) Search Bar: Implement a search bar to easily locate specific Assets within the researcher profile.
(2) Increased Display Limit: Allow users to increase the number of Assets displayed per page (e.g., from the current 10 to 20 or 30).
(3) Customizable Display Order: Provide options to change the display order of Assets within the researcher profile. (e.g. by name, date modified, etc.)
The primary reason for this requests is the difficulty researchers face in finding specific Assets when they've uploaded a large number of files themselves.…

Clickable DOI link on deposit records
For deposit records awaiting processing (either through user deposit or Smart Harvesting), would it be possible for the DOI on the record to be a clickable link so that staff can check the published version quickly before claiming the record and working on it?

Open Access funder policy compliance checker
Are there plans for Esploro to have a compliance checker where we can set the criteria of funder open access policies (such as the UKRI one: https://www.ukri.org/publications/ukri-open-access-policy/uk-research-and-innovation-open-access-policy/) and measure the compliance of our assets within the repository?

Show SDGs as a facet
The information on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the assets in Esploro has enormous potential. We would love to be able to have the SDGs as a facet, since that way users can filter outputs towards their aims. Since the information is already in the asset, we think it could be an easy gain for ExLibris to enable the faceting of this info.

Harvest Media Mentions from Altmetric
Media Mentions are an excellent way to showcase the impact of our university’s research, but we haven’t made use of this functionality because we don’t have the staff time to find and enter this information one by one. But there are sources for this data, like Altmetric. Esploro already displays Altmetric scores, badges, and details at the research asset level. Altmetric tracks each mention of a research output by news outlets (for example: https://dimensions.altmetric.com/details/49291201/news). If Altmetric news outlet mentions could be harvested by Esploro as Media Mentions, it would greatly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of this functionality. As…

batch revise author role
We had a request to create a report identifying corresponding authors. We do not have this data in Esploro. We may be able to get this data, but we have no way to alter author roles in multiple assets in an efficient manner. As CREDIT and other uses of roles in an asset become more important for our faculty members and departments, having a way to add this information in an efficient manner would be very helpful

Cover images for metadata only items
We would like a way to have a thumbnail/cover image associated with a metadata only item, particularly a book. We would want the cover to display in a collection like this https://iro.uiowa.edu/esploro/search/collections/Recent-Books-by-UI-Authors/Books?institution=01IOWA_INST to make it look more engaging. The image should as display on a profile, and it should be part of the import to Primo so that it displays there as well. The cover needs to be marked in some way as a cover image so it does not appear to be something with full text available; a cover image should NOT make the asset be flagged as OA.…

SIS Loader Improvement - Handling Organizational Unit Affiliation
When loading and maintaining researcher using the SIS loader if a researcher being added/updated contains an internal organization affiliation that is not configured in Esploro, that researcher will not load/update. An error is is created.
This "idea" suggests that instead of an error being created in these cases, the researcher be assigned to a default internal organization that is configured by the site. A warning/exception would then be created in the SIS loader processing log stating the internal organization was not found, so the default internal organization was utilized instead.
