  1. Ability to de-duplicate shared folders

It would be extremely useful to be able to de-duplicate shared folders, as students in my organization typically use shared folders to individually search for resources for a group project. The ability to de-duplicate the folder after the research portion of the project is over would be immediately helpful.

  2. Add remove from folder button to folder menu bar

Improve removing a reference from a folder

Current method: Click on delete button, then select remove from folder.

Suggested method: have a remove from folder button on the folder top menu bar.

  3. Bulk edit for DOI field

Hello, would it be possible to Bulk edit also the field DOI? Especially records imported from PubMed include [doi] in this field which should not display in a bibliography.
It would be very helpful if we could Replace [doi] with zero characters in all records at once.

  4. Small Caps

Some citation styles require small caps, yet there is no mechanism within RefWorks to generate them. This is problematic.

  6. Copy and paste ready-material citation style from other Sources

Ready-made citations are provided in some databases. However, there is no 'copy and paste' function in Refworks to import them. The articles from four very popular databases cannot be grabbed by 'Save to Refworks' - Britannica School, Questia, Statista and Discovery Education Streaming. But the databases provide citations, it is ashamed that the data cannot be transferred to Refworks easily.

  7. Set default folder

How about a feature to set a default folder where refs are uploaded? I'm using the taskbar function to save to RefWorks and I'm required to assign the folder manually from the user interface every time.

  8. Clear last imported folder when a new import is made

In RefWorks original, when you import a reference set, the Last Imported folder was reset, so only that import is contained in the folder.

Now, "Last Imported" isn't last imported, it's ALL references imported in the last 30 days!

At best, it now requires the additional steps of selecting and clearing references from the so-called last imported folder before you import new references; and if you forget, the old references are left in with the new references, making it harder to work on only the new references.

If you insist on keeping it this way, then rename the folder "Recently…

  9. Show Author Address/Affiliation in the Full View

I manage an institutional database in legacy RefWorks, where it is vital, that I can see the author affiliation in reference.

Please make this field visible in New RefWorks as well.

  11. Deduplication of sub-folders, or between folders

I would like to be able to de-duplicate sub-folders, for example where each sub-folder contains the results from a database search for a systematic review.

Alternatively, a user should be able to choose to de-duplicate any two or more folders in refworks.

  12. 'Create a new account' when linking to New RefWorks for the first time from a search tool (Google Scholar, Primo etc)?

From Google Scholar, Primo etc, when you click on the RefWorks link next to each search record, it takes you to the following page:

    https://refworks.proquest.com/combined-export/?groupcode=RWMiddlesexU&detoken=XBLgJo9sJFPnYg1wJ%5B44

If you then select to export to the New Refworks, you are taken to the following page:

    https://refworks.proquest.com/login/

However, this is problematic, as it does not offer the opportunity to 'Create a new Account'.

We think that users should be directed to the following URL instead: https://refworks.proquest.com/

  13. Opportunity for creating hyperlinks between in-text ctations and related references in the bibliography

As lots of reports are read as pfd-files is would be a nice help for the reader to have the possibility to jump from the in-text citation to the appropriate entry in the bibliography. Creating Hyperlinks Between In-text Citations and Related References is an option that has been seen at other reference tools

  14. Citation style names need context

Many citation styles have many different versions (author-date, in-text, footnote) and editions (6th, 7th, 8th). The names in the list make it hard to choose which one is best. Clearer names and more information about the style, including last updated date, perhaps in a "hover" style information box, would help users. It would also be nice to be able to search/browse a list of styles instead of only having an autocomplete search box to find citation styles.

  15. Allow people with whom folders are shared to move references from that folder into its subfolders

Users with the "Can Modify" permission on a shared folder should be able to move references from the main shared folder into its subfolders

  16. Add WorldCat catalogues to Search Databases in RefWorks New

Our library uses a WorldCat catalogue. We would like our catalogue to be added to "Search Databases" in RefWorks New to enable searching our institutions catalogue from within RefWorks. This is not possible at the moment because RefWork needs Z39.50 and WorldCat uses SRU. So we would like SRU to be added to RefWorks or the possibility to use the WorldCat Search API.

  17. notification when new references are added to shared folders or projects

especially when working with shared folders and projects it is very useful if I can easily spot recent changes / additions /modifications made by the other users of the project/folder.

19. Be able to set sharing options on sub-folders like you do on folders

Add sharing function for individual & group for sub-folders. It would be useful to be able to set sharing options on a sub folder without the parent folder having to be shared out as well.

  20. ISBN/ISSN, authors can be used to retrieve auto-cite metadata for manual input

More criteria are recommended for retrieving metadata for auto-cite. ISBN, ISSN and authors are common. This will empower the auto-cite capability and save a lot of time for the researchers.
