Allow merging of duplicate metadata records for newspaper articles prior to January 1, 2000.
I reported a case of 12 metadata records for the same NYT newspaper article. Search: "carmichael oregon high desert"
This was the response from support:
Records with the resource type "newspaper articles" from before January 1, 2000 - CANNOT MERGE.
Unfortunately it seems that CDI is currently not designed to provide the functionality described.
The next step is to pursue this as an enhancement.3 votes -
Upping the limit of characters in the menu setting
We would like it if we could up the limit of characters in the menu settings part of the admin tools in intota. Currently the limit seems to be 50 characters.

Enable search by full DOI URL
In the E-Journal Portal, it would be helpful to enable lookup by the full DOI URL.
For example, entering "https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jpag.2021.01.016" would still search for "10.1016/j.jpag.2021.01.016"3 votes -
Filtering Journals based on Indexing like ABDC, ABS, FT 50, Web of Scince, SCOPUS, Both Scopus & WOS
Filtering Journals based on Indexing like ABDC, ABS, Web of Scince, SCOPUS, Both Scopus & WOS
As this filter option is necessary for the research scholars & faculty members literature review purposes. They focus on particular category journals for literature search.
We would appreciate it if you could take forward this suggestion to your development team.
I will be happy to support & provide the necessary data for this implementation process.

Availability in Location Items section
For a journal, each value in the calculated availability is calculated independently, based on the lowest and highest value of the items, even if they do not come from the same items.
I.E: if we have the following items:
2022,1 to 2022,4 and 2023,1in Summon the availability is displayed with:
from:1 2022 until:4 2023instead of
from:1 2022 until:1 2023We would like change the summary calculation in availability.

Link Summon to Alma Sandbox
As Summon over Alma customer, we request Summon Preview Environment is link to Alma Sandbox.
For example, the link "My Library Account" is linked to "https://.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/account?vid=*****_INST:Services§ion=overview&lang=e now.
However, the link should be going to Sandbox.3 votes -
CDI Display Document Attributes
The "CDI Display Document Attributes" functionality in Primo allows preprints to be labelled. There is an ongoing problem in Summon where aggregators and publishers use the same electronic collections but provide a different level of access. Especially with preprints - which look like broken links because aggregators dont provide them but they are included in results because publishers do.
This functionality could identify preprints so users would have a better idea of why they can't access them.
Can this functionality please be made available to Summon users?

Limit purchase request by material type
At present, purchase requests cannot be limited by material type, e.g. users can request that we purchase ebooks but not ejournals. I think this could be achieved with Display Logic.
Can this functionality please be added?3 votes -
Provide the ability to separate journals and ejournals when searching
Similar to Sophia Birden's idea for books and ebooks, currently I do not think there is a way to separate journals and ejournals without clicking the full-text limiter for the electronic.

Provide ability to make a link to Advanced Search with pre-selected facets
I would like to be able to provide a URL to the advanced search page and have the English language facet preselected.

Retain special characters in 245 subfields
It would be nice if Summon was able to selectively retain special characters in the title mapping field, for example 245$p. It currently strips special characters such as brackets [] from these fields. We use brackets in our $p field for certain reasons and it would be nice if Summon would leave them in when displaying the Title fields.

Report version of Data Summary Dashboard
We love the Data Summary Dashboard in 360 Services. We use it for IPEDs. The only way to access it is by going into the Client Center manually. So we have to remember to go to this screen precisely on July 1st each year.
It would be great if we could have this summary information automatically reported out monthly to specified email addresses.
(For Data on Demand you can only print out title lists. You have to count them manually.)

More flexibility for the Reserve Button
We would like to suggest an enhancement request to allow more flexibility for the Reserve Button link to allow its link to target a specific holds/reservation functionality for a specific record ID.
In particular, we use the Koha Library Managament System so would greatly welcome an API integration between Summon and Koha, similar to the Sierra via Summon integration, as detailed here:

Offer automated holdings management for VLeBooks
VLeBooks is likely to be an increasingly popular e-book supplier. Automated holdings management, meaning new titles added to a library's holdings are added to Summon without the library having to take any action, would be very welcome.

Enable Current Content Mapping to be Downloaded for SoA
As a Summon over Alma customer, we are unable to download our current mapping. When we submit a ticket to get the information, it may take over a month to get the information. Making this available to download from the Summon Admin tool would streamline things for customers and support.
Example Case: 07955367

Reset Preview Environment
Ideally the preview environment and production environment are nearly identical and so that you can test how different configurations and settings will work. Eventually though, it's likely that some changes you made it preview no longer match production and discovering every change is difficult and time consuming.
It would be helpful to offer an opt-in feature where institutions can select a box in the Admin Console. Doing so will schedule a refresh of your preview environment to match your production environment. This would take place before each feature release (not monthly) and only if the user opts in.

Improving AI generated search queries with Model Context Protocol (MCP)
The Research Assistant can deliver better search results by implementing real-time AI query optimization through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Instead of relying on static, centralized indexes, this approach enables the AI assistant to query our catalogue and other distributed content sources directly and dynamically refine searches based on what it discovers.
Users would receive not only improved results from their initial query, but also optimized search terms they can use for further manual research. This helps them learn better search techniques while finding relevant materials faster, reducing frustration and improving research outcomes. We believe the AI can be a…

More prominent AI generated library search queries
Please promote the "View related results on your library search" link to a prominent, standalone UI element. The AI Research Assistant is great, but it creates a "bubble" by only showing 5 sources. The "View related results" link is the escape hatch that leads students to our full collection, but it is currently too easy to miss.
Making this feature more visible acts as an information literacy tool, showing users how to convert prompts into keywords.
Benefits of the tool:
Instant query building: It shows students what a "good" search looks like (even though it is far from perfect right…3 votes -
How to Fix “Cannot Use Import Statement Outside a Module” in Node.js Projects
One of the most common headaches for JavaScript developers is encountering the dreaded SyntaxError: cannot use import statement outside a module. This error usually happens when Node.js tries to interpret ES module syntax (import/export) in a project that isn’t configured to handle it. By default, Node.js treats .js files as CommonJS modules, so using import without the right setup triggers this syntax error.
The simplest way to fix this is by updating your package.json to include "type": "module". This tells Node.js to treat .js files as ES modules, allowing the use of import and export syntax seamlessly. Alternatively, you can…
