  1. A designated field for E-locators in citations

We would like a separate field for e-locators in Leganto citations.

The publisher's use of this identifier is increasingly common, and included in several reference styles, such as APA. Today, the e-locator appears in the page number field, which can be confusing. The field should also be included in the export to RIS and to reference managers like Endnote.

A designated e-locator field would also be useful for Primo displays.

  2. Configure default status for Library Physical Digitization requests

When working with citations, we would like the ability to configure the default status when a Library Physical Digitization request has been submitted.

Parameters available via the Course Reserves Automatic Statuses mapping table allow default statuses to be assigned for resource sharing requests and purchasing requests. Could an additional parameter be added for Library Physical Digitization requests?

  3. Header

In a course reading list within Leganto, it should be possible to 1) make the header persistent or 2) always hide once you start scrolling. In 3 different browsers - Chrome, Edge, and FireFox - when we scroll, the header sometimes shrinks and stays that way (which is good) and other times, it pops back up. This is a UI issue and should be an easy fix and/or configuration, but it is rather annoying for users when the header keeps minimizing and then un-minimizing, over and over again.

  4. Using "Leganto student usage" and noticed that some reading lists/Courses do not appear in this report.

We created a Leganto report with the subject area "Leganto student usage" and noticed that some reading lists do not appear in this report.
We assume that this is because there has not been any student interaction with these lists but there is nothing about this in knowledge center documentation.
We have been having to run separate analytics reports to get all the data we need it.
It would be nice to be able to use the Leganto Student Usage criteria to gather statistics on ALL the reading lists, courses and citations, regardless if they’ve been used or not.

  5. Scheduling the dates of visibility of citations/attachments in NUI

We want to limit the dates between which citations or attachments can be viewed/downloaded. This is available in the classic interface but not in the new one.

It is usefulI when you (librarian or instructor) want to prepare the complete reading list at the beginning of the course, to set the dates on which citations/attachments will be made visible to users. This is good when your course works with case studies in a big way, for example.
In this situation, or similar, it is important because you are working with materials which students have to download and you don't want…

  6. Display more course details when pushing to Leganto from Primo

Instructors often teach the same subjects which are rolled over each new semester. This results in a long list of indistinguishable lists in the Push to Leganto feature since it only displays the list name.

Please provide configuration options for displaying course details alongside the list name, including course code, term and year. Institutions should be able to decide which of these course details to display in the Push to Leganto feature.

See attached for an example of how it might look.

  7. Increase the number of page range fields for Book Extract citation type

Colleagues whose day job involves working with Leganto have expressed interest in being able to add more page range fields for the Book Extract citation type.

At the moment there are only two page range fields that can be made use of, which use these types:

    • Start Page
    • Start Page2
    • End Page
    • End Page2

We would like to be able to add at least 4 page ranges, so have these field types available also:

    • Start Page3
    • End Page3
    • Start Page4
    • End Page4

    Thank you for your consideration!

  8. Allow file uploads to be visible to students regardless of citation status

Currently a citation has to be ‘Complete’ for an uploaded file to be visible to students.

We use 'Course Reserves Automatic Statuses' to change citation statuses from 'Complete' if tags or metadata are edited. This means that students won't be able to view a file if a tutor edits or tags the citation. Library staff can set citations back to complete but are only available in Mon-Fri, 9-5, so students may lose access for several days at a weekend.

We're currently trialling the 'Social readings' feature where students can highlight and add comments to documents, but the risk of students…

  9. Enable a forced SSO login for users accessing openly published reading lists Leganto via a CMS.

We publish all of our reading lists to "Anyone Full" which means that anyone with a link can access the list; we have partners or prospective students who may need to view the lists. Access to subscribed resources is restricted to registered users and anyone without a university login cannot access the links to resources, they can only view the citations.

Currently when students login to a reading list through Moodle, they automatically enter the list as a Guest and there is no prompt to login (unless you add a message to the list) which means that users may miss…

  10. Information displayed in Recent Changes of Reading List

When I delete a citaiton from the reading list, I can see the information about the deleted citaiton from the "Recent Changes" tab of the Reading List in Alma, but I can't see any information other than Title.
It would be nice to have more detailed citation information (such as ISBN, ISSN and MMS ID) to identify what citations have been removed.

  11. Multiple processing departments for instructor digitization requests

Today, Leganto configuration includes a hardcoded processing department for instructor digitization requests.
Idea: Define a new logic for auto-picking the digitization processing department from multiple departments.

  12. Upload one file per page range allowed

Some material types like book chapter or book extracts, allow to have two page ranges.
However, it is only possible to upload one file.

The page range data from the citation is used in our copyright platform integration, and PDF files are created based on this data, that is, one per page range. Having to merge the files before uploading them is unnecessary extra work so we would like to be able to upload several files per citation (1 per page range).

  13. Enable customization of new edition tag

Use case: a librarian identifies an open textbook, or other title that would make a good replacement since an ebook of the prescribed text cannot be obtained. This is NOT a new edition of the title, but the functionality can be used to good effect in this scenario.

There are other scenarios for using the new edition functionality where the system tag "New edition" is not meaningful. We would like to customise it to something like "Alternative Suggested"

The notifications labels for this are customisable so it makes sense that the tag should be customisable too.

    Case: 06705050

  15. The ability to ask multiple questions and answers on one citation

We currently have a question setup in Leganto. To ask whether a piece of reading is mandatory or supplementary. We were testing asking a question about Print only items needing to be digitized. However, we found out that you can only ask one question for one citation. It would be good to have the ability to have more than one question for one citation being created.

  16. Can course codes information be sorted from newest to oldest when using Manage Course Association/Rollover a list

In Leganto, an instructor needs to look up a course when trying to ‘Manage course association’ or ‘Rollover’ a list to a course; however, the course codes information is listed in order from oldest to newest.

The sorting is inconvenient for them as, in most cases, instructors tend to locate the latest course. We think it will help the instructors if the course information should be default in the order from the most recent course.

  17. Hide resource locate on article citations

The Resource Locate function appears in Row Actions List in Alma for article citations. Articles do not need to be located, just resolved. The default behavior (when not resource located) is that the URESOLVER applies the date restrictions. Portfolios falling outside of the holdings period for that specific journal are filtered out.

However, when resource located, the citation is viewed as a journal and shows all portfolios attached to the journal's bib. record. In order to prevent this from happening, we suggest the resource locate option be hidden in Alma for this type of citation.

  18. Add a "Set complete" option for Library staff to the Edit Multiple items options

In November 2020 the Edit Multiple Items option was added to the Leganto interface. One option which would really help Library staff when processing and checking lists would be to add the "Set Complete" option (only visible to Library staff) to the bulk options (delete, add notes, visibility dates etc.)

  19. Able to configure which citation statuses should be considered as equivalent to Complete

In Leganto it is possible to create custom citation statuses.

One such custom status we have created is 'Complete - no eBook available' which we use to signify to academic staff that a citation has been processed by the library but that it has not been possible to purchase an item electronically. For all intents and purpose this status is equivalent to Complete, but provides additional information.

It would be preferable if we were able to configure Leganto to define which statuses should be considered as Complete. This would be useful, for example, when filtering citations in Alma, where there…

  20. Increase the Loading Performance of Larger Reading Lists

We would like to be able to create reading lists with more than 100 items, but they tend to load slowly when we do. Please increase the loading performance of reading lists so that we can create larger lists without impacting usability. We would like to see at least 300 items in a list without negatively impacting performance.
