  1. alerts based on a range of call numbers

We would like our users to be able to define an alert in primo, based on a range of call numbers – for example:
    lc = "ds67->ds79.99" .

  2. Do not interpret words in phrase searches as Boolean operators

At ETH Library, we use UDK classification. The UDK notations are always in capital letters, and some contain words as “AND” or German “UND”. “AND” and “UND” are defined as Boolean operators in our Primo VE. This leads to the following problem: when a user clicks on an UDK notation that contains such a word (e.g. on “PFLANZEN + BÄUME + BLUMEN (MOTIVE IN KUNST, LITERATUR UND FILM)” in this record: https://eth.swisscovery.slsp.ch/permalink/41SLSP_ETH/lshl64/alma990015558430205503), a search for “subject equals exact phrase” in the advanced search is triggered. Although a phrase search is performed, the word UND is interpreted as a Boolean…

  3. Pre-filter for Primo database search

Please add pre-filters to the Primo database search to allow users to filter their results prior to performing a search (as it is possible for a general Primo search).

This would be very helpful for e.g. database types (bibliographies, dictonaries, subject gateways, reference works, etc.) or other database indicators like "Open Access", "Full Text database", "Database supports OpenURL", etc.

It should be possible to use these pre-filters in combination with all database search options:
    - search for a keyword
    - A to Z index search
    - Category search
and choosen pre-filters should remain for the session (like the "sticky" facets),…

  4. Add a multilingual keyboard to the User Interface

Our patrons want to search in multiple languages in Primo, e.g. Chinese, Russian, Arabic, etc. When they come to the library they are often limited, because of the local keyboards. A virtual multilingual keyboard would be an ideal solution to support their needs.
Portal Judaica (cf. screenshot attached) provides an example of how to implement this in the user interface. The website https://www.lexilogos.com/ supports a variety of languages to give you an idea of which languages should be supported by the virtual keyboard. Thank you for voting.

  5. Make the path shorter to change PIN code for self check

One of the most frequent problems our borrowers have is that they have forgotten the pin code they use when borrowing books at the self check machine. We prefer that they change it themselves by logging into their account, but doing that is rather cumbersome. The function is hidden under My library account/Settings/Address/language settings/Update login credentails. It could instead be placed in the menu or lifted so that it appears before the adress and language settings.

  6. Privacy in patron letters

Currently, patrons receive detailed item information in patron letters. We would like to make it possible for patrons to turn off letters (such as when they do not want this detailed information living in their email accounts).

In testing, we found that the current 'Personal Details' configuration in Alma (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/Primo_VE_(English)/060Library_Card_Configuration/Configuring_Personal_Details_Settings_for_Primo_VE) does not allow us to limit patron changes to ONLY the notification preferences.

  7. Streamline favourites by adding the ability to create labels from the item.

It would be great if once you clicked the add to favourites button for an item you were either presented with a "Would you like to add a label" option, or the ability to add labels/tags from the ellipses menu, rather than having to go to the favourites menu.

  8. "Feedback Tool" for the New Primo UI: insert the e-mail of the logged in user automatically

Currently the field "e-mail" in the Feedback form is defined as optional.

As well as with the current e-mail functionality of bibliographic citations, we would expect the e-mail to be automatically pre-filled when a user is logged in. But unfortunately this does not happen.

Please insert the e-mail of the logged in user automatically or at least give us the possibility to set this option in the Primo backend.

    Thank you in advance!

  9. Bulk search results export

In a recent user survey, students provided feedback they would like the ability to export all or a large number of their search results. Currently they are limited to a maximum of 50 results at a time. Users reported they had worked to create a search strategy and were disappointed they could not obtain a full list of their search results, and were forced to move to searching individual databases instead.

  10. "Feedback Tool" for the New Primo UI: possibility to define the e-mail field as a mandatory field

We have been using the feedback tool for a few weeks now and have unfortunately received many requests where the users did not provide an e-mail address.
As a result, we have no way to ask a question or explain the reported behaviour (as it is correct).

Therefore, we would be glad if the e-mail field can be defined as a mandatory field in the Primo back office.
A user can of course still enter a fake e-mail address, but then this is a deliberate action.

    Thank you in advance!

  11. My Library Card: add sort by date option to requests list

it is currently only possible to sort the requests list within My Library Card by status or title - our users would very much appreciate the option to sort by request date as well - thanks for considering!

  12. Request physical book when e-book is also available at home or other libraries

No request or resource sharing option is available when the home library has an e-book. There are many scenarios where a patron may need a physical book and they should have the ability to request one from Primo.

  13. Add Reserves "Reading List" to facets navigation panel.

This would allow a clean up project for a multiple location library system. It would bring reserves more closely aligned with standard cataloging by basically using the Course as a high level catalog record (think bib level), Reading List as middle tier (holdings level shelving location). By combining the Course to one entry with the reading lists showing shelving, it would take our records from five courses and five reading lists per class offering to one course with five reading list. This would help clean up database space and form more consistency across locations.

  14. SFX: Allow users to create local targets with parent-child hierarchy

In SFX, parent-child hierarchy is quite common in global-type targets as shown in Fig.1 attached below. The advantage of this feature is that it can well display the natural logical relationships between parent-targets and child-targets. However, when creating local targets, parent-child hierarchy is not accessible and all the locally created targets are at the same level, whether they have logical relationships or not. So it's highly suggested that parent-child hierarchy should be an option when users create local targets.

  15. Add Generic Record Actions

In View Configuration > Brief Record Display > Record Actions, implement the function of adding generic icons to the Full Display.

It should be possible to add:
    - An icon file
    - A label
    - A URL template(if possible using variables)

This would decrease the amount of programming necessary to add new features and expand on the amount of information that can be added(Eventhough you can already add a lot of features)

  16. Add the creation date to the titles in the Saved Search Letter

Users can set an alert on the Saved Searches page and will then receive the Saved Search letter by email whenever there are new results for their saved search. However, a new result is not necessarily a new publication. The Saved Search letter could also contain older publications which are new to the inventory of the discovery system. For the users, it would be helpful to already see in the Saved Search letter the creation date of the titles, so that they know which results are real new publications. In Primo VE, however, it is currently not possible to add…

  17. My Favorites load automatially as user scrolls down

In a recent student survey we had feedback that users would like their complete list of Favorites to be more accessible and visible. In particular, users requested that instead of choosing 'Load more results' after every ten My Favorites, that their My Favorites list auto-loaded as they scrolled down the page.

  18. Advanced Search option in Collection Discovery for Alma-D

Primo's public Collection Discovery pages currently lack the ability to run advanced searches. As a result, only keyword searches are possible at either the collection or sub-collection level, which prevents users from being able to limit or refine searches by necessary fields like Date, Creator, etc. This means that users have to browse collections, sub-collections, and items more broadly than is often helpful when an advanced search would be more likely to bring them immediately relevant results. Primo's Advanced Search for regular discovery is a valuable tool that should also appear in Alma-D's Collection Discovery.

  19. PrimoVE should allow disabling of Aggregator Content Data

Improving OpenAIRE Links in PrimoVE: A Customization Proposal

Many of the OpenAIRE links in our system are currently unreliable. To address this issue, we propose the following enhancements:

    1) Aggregator Content Data Class: We recommend introducing an aggregator class specifically
for Aggregator Content Data in the code. This class would allow us to apply custom styling
and control the display of OpenAIRE links.

    2) CSS Customization: If we had a dedicated <span class="OpenAIRE">, we could easily add CSS
rules to hide OpenAIRE links. Currently, we lack this flexibility, and our users are
inundated with potentially unreliable links. Other Contenre Data…

  20. Add Search within "Journals by Category" results

Journals by Category is less useful since each category could have hundreds of results. For example, searching by the category "Psychology" produces 623 journals. EDS' journal search allows you to search within that category--so in this case, you'd be able to search a specific topic among only the 623 psychology journals identified. We have professors who require students to find ten articles in Economics/Accounting journals that are published in the USA. A search within the category Economics journals for a topic, and perhaps even the location facet, would help these students out!
