  1. Showing Cookies Banner on Primo VE

Legally, websites need to offer users the ability to opt out of cookies by default. Primo VE doesn't offer this or a banner to say that cookies are in use when accessing it.

This should be implemented as it is a legal requirement for us as libraries.

  2. Preference CDI Link Resolver records over Link in Record when merging

CDI now merges multiple results for the same article together, but when it does it preferences CDI records with 'Link in Record' rather than displaying the Link Resolver choices under Full Text Availability. The Link in Record articles often lead to indexing sites, not to the publisher where the full text is available. We need a config option where we can preference Subscription (Linkresolver) over Link in Record when merging records in Primo

Thank you for raising this, we are considering this idea as part of the idea “Display both link in record and links from link resolver in CDI” , therefore we are releasing your votes on this idea. The direction is to enable customers to show more links and offer some configuration options to set preferences.
    https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/41346958-display-both-link-in-record-and-links-from-link-re

Note that this is not something that we can do in the near future since it is a complex change.

  3. Ability to dedup or FRBR between local data and CDI data

For Primo Central Index data collections, the PCI citation often represents a title that we also hold in our local data. The current inability to dedupe or cluster between PCI and local data means that users will always be presented with two hits when they are on the combined/everything scope.

With the new Central Discovery Index (CDI), we would like the ability to configure a deduping or clustering algorithm such that we only present one hit to the user.

We have reviewed this idea carefully and discussed it with Primo working group while estimating NERS enhancements. Currently since there are two separate indexes for local and central data, we do not have any technical solution to fulfill this request. However, with the upcoming NERS 6702 we are trying to reduce the issue caused by books duplication by adding configuration option to exclude ebooks from your CDI results. We have decided to close this idea to release your votes.

  4. Include all fields in PCI Activation Center download option

Please include all fields present in the PCI activation center when downloading/exporting.

Currently the only fields exported are:

    Provider name
    Collection name
    Newspaper search
    Search
    Full Text
    Link to Full Text
    Active for Search
    Central Update frequency
    Description

We would like to see all available fields exported, including:
    Added On:
    Last Activated On:
    Resource Types:
    Local Note:

  5. Folders to organize Save Query searches in Primo

I'd like to see a way to organize my Save Query searches in Primo when I'm signed into my account.

Prior to our go live date, I'm doing a lot of test searches in Primo to analyze results so we can tweak it for the best results. Having the ability to save different searches and variations of them in folders would be a great option, both for us and for our students when we complete our rollover before the Fall semester.

Thank you for this idea, following it we have implemented a new Notification Name field to help users name their saved searches . this can be seen in both alert emails as email title or in the
    My Favorites → Saved Searches.
We are moving the idea to close and not completed since the implementation doesn’t cover folders or labels to search for.
Please refer to the upcoming Primo August 2021 release notes for more details

  6. bad link reporter

    Bad Link Reporter

This tool would work while librarians are searching Primo. An addon tool for Primo that looks at results when the following condition exists: a link is clicked and user gets an error, (no full text available or other Primo error messages) there would be a popup or message asking “report this bad link?”. You click on the button, it goes away allowing librarian to continue their work but clicking the button reports the permalink, search details and bad link error message including eresource used. This option only occurs for library staff. Ordinary users would not see it.

Earlier this year we have released the Give Us Feedback tool where users can report on broken links or any other issues. Although we do recognize that this idea is more specific to the need of reporting on a broken link as part of user workflow, this suggestion will not be part of our roadmap, therefore we are closing it to release your votes.

  7. Add LC Classification Facet to PrimoVE Facet options

Back Office has the option to enable the LC Classification facet to Primo, however, Primo VE does not. This facet is heavily used in our Summon instance and we would like to see this behavior port over into VE.

    Hi all,

Following further examination of this suggestion, we decided that this will not be included eventually in the Primo VE roadmap due to some prioritization considerations.

Therefore we are moving this idea to "Closed" and your votes are already released.

    Best regards,

    Yael.

  8. Less duplicate records in Primo Central Index results

Primo Central grouping is based on the existing FRBR workflow, including the grouping process at the database level (the way the Search engine handles grouping) and the Front End functionality. It is used to prevent duplicate records in the results list.

Unfortunately, many records are not added to FRBR groups because the system considers the metadata are not rich enough. With the increase of records provided by (Open Access) aggregators and repositories, the number of duplicate records will certainly not decrease.

Could Ex Libris improve the FRBR workflow for Primo Central records in order to reduce the number of duplicate

  9. Add Jump to Last & Specific Page Options to Primo Search Results Paging Bar

Our users are asking for the option to jump to the last page of the search results in Primo. They would also like to get to a specific page number in the Primo search results paging bar by typing the number in there. First and last page options are basic functionalities of pagers and users expect those.

This idea was reviewed and discussed in the past also as part of the NERS evaluation. In the last few years we did few improvements to the pagination area to increase the visibility of the results.  We do support now option to jump to specific page number up to the limitation of number of results to show, however the ability to jump to the last page is not in our roadmap.

therefore  we have decided to close this idea and release your votes.

  10. Ability to increase the number of results that are loaded at a time in New UI

Currently, the Primo New UI retrieves 10 search results. It is not possible to increase the number of results.
We would like the ability to configure the number of results that are loaded at a time.

We view product performance as a top priority, and invest significant effort on optimizing search response time and UI rendering time.
We believe that keeping Primo’s default number of results is important for maintaining high product performance. This configuration also allows us to perform performance testing and measurements.
This request was previously discuss with the Primo Working Group during NERS process, and it was agreed not to proceed in this direction.

  11. configure the order of the holdings records in the GetIt tab

It would be very useful to have an option to configure the order of the holdings records to be displayed in Primo (e.g. according to the loan period) as opposed to the current situation where the order is random.

There is no plan to support the sort by loan period, recently we have added option to custom your own order of locations - see the "Get It - Custom Order of Locations" in the release notes. We are closing this idea to release your votes.
  12. Review content type in Primo is confusing

Currently the Review content type in Primo / Primo Central seems to contain both Book Reviews such as
    http://shu-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/44SHU_VU1:default_scope:TN_sciversesciencedirect_elsevierS0261-5177(06)00203-2

    and Review Articles such as
    http://shu-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/44SHU_VU1:default_scope:TN_proquest1373464971

It would be better if these were in separate content types.

  13. Secondary sorting of records in the results list

Primo is designed to sort the results list by one parameter only (relevancy, title etc.).
Currently, it is not possible to define a secondary sort. Thus records with the same ranking will appear in no particular order.
It would be beneficial to be able to configure a secondary and third sort options. For example, first sorting by Relevancy, secondary by Publishing Year and third by Title.

Thank you for this idea. We have reviewed the options to support secondary sorting  and solution is technically very complex  especially supporting it on both local and CDI indexes. In addition this can impact performance. So we have decided to close it and release your points.

  14. Don't require login to view full search results

According to the usability experts, Nielsen Norman Group, a website shouldn't demand user information such as a login until it has demonstrated it's relevance to the user's needs, and earned the users preference over other tools that perform the same task. (https://www.nngroup.com/articles/commitment-levels/?utm_source=Alertbox&utm_campaign=d19e05030d-Hierarchy_of_Trust_Testing_Features_03_07_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_7f29a2b335-d19e05030d-40195745)

We're competing with a user preference for Google. From a user experience standpoint, it makes no sense to require that users log in before seeing content that is unique to vendors such as ProQuest in their search results. Please negotiate with vendors until this requirement is eliminated.

    Hi ,
We would like, as well, that all the resources will be available as part of the search results and that there will not be any need to login before he perform a specific action on the document itself.
However, it doesn’t depend on us, but on the content provider.
Although most of the content in Primo central, includes the majority of the PQ content is available for search without any restriction, there are few content providers (mainly the A&I ones) , that still demand not to show their content in the search results without the user login and we will verify he have the privileges to get the content.
We keep discussing this with the content vendors and request like that help us to prove our point, but in order to support it have to be agreed by the content provider.

  15. Version control system for back office configuration

A version control system for back office configuration tables, pipes, normalization rules etc.
For files like Custom HTML, CSS, JS, PDS etc. we can manage change history and revert to older versions by using version control systems like Git, Subversion etc. For configuration managed via the web back office and database this is not possible, but it is a vital feature of professional system management. This will become more important in a full SaaS environment.
