Primo VE Browse databases by category
We would like to be able to have the option to group the browse into more than 1 list for example a Subjects list and a Resource type list to avoid one huge list for users to scroll through to find the link they are looking for

The "my account" feature in Primo shows other institutions even if no holdings are checked out--these are schools whose holdings have been viewed by the user only. We'd like to ONLY display other schools in this area unless the user has items requested or checked out.

Change the "Guest" button to a "Sign In" button.
The new Primo interface has a "Guest" label/button which you have to click to get to a "Sign In" button. This is ridiculous. This confuses a "who you are" label with a login button. There is nothing intuitive about this. Users have to click twice to login.

Only show "starts with" for relevant fields
Currently, the "starts with" functionality is only available for title searching. There are already some posts here about adding it for other fields, like call number and subject, which I support. This post is about the current behavior though. If I choose to search by another field, such as author/creator or subject, then the next dropdown allows me to choose "starts with" even though it's not available, and it immediately switches to a title search. I'd prefer that, if a user has selected a field other than Title, that "starts with" just wouldn't show up at all. If the task…

Make hyphenated compound searchable as closed compound
Hyphenated compounds are indexed for search as open compounds in Primo when "remove hyphens" option is enabled.
In German language it is also very common to concatenate them as closed compounds, thus creating a single word without spaces or hyphens. This variant should be indexed for search as well.
Example:
"Passagen-Werk" (hyphenated compound)
• at the moment also finds "Passagen Werk" (open compound) when "remove hyphens" option is enabled
• at the moment does not find "Passagenwerk" (closed compound) but should be able to find this!!85 votesThank you for this idea. We have improved the search with hyphens for Supported hyphenated terms.. it is released with Primo May 2021 release and Primo VE July release.

direct links to HTML/PDF content in brief display within search results
For any provider that has direct links to HTML or PDF content, I believe that link should be somewhere in the brief display area right over the sendTo actions.
2 votesWith the Primo VE December 2021 release, we will release: quicklinks – From citation to pdf/html full text to allow your users to access the citation’s PDF / HTML full text , this will be available for list of providers that supports the quicklinks

Primo - Pay Fines Link - don't show when there are no fines
The Pay Fines in Library Card/Account section of Primo displays even when a user has no fines.
Clicking the link takes the user through to our payment provider allowing them to attempt to pay a fine/fee of zero.
It would be a notable improvement to the user experience if this link only displayed when there was actually a fine/fee to be paid.

Configure option to display export to Leganto action for certain usergroup
We do not allow students to create reading lists so the export to reading list action is redundant for most of our users. We would like for staff to see the icon when they are logged in to Primo but otherwise it should be hidden.
23 votesWe are closing this idea and would like to provide details on the “Reading List” option in Primo as exist todays.
The “Reading list” action in Primo is available for both stuff members and students:
- For stuff members there will be an option to select to which reading list they can add a citation
- For a student there will be option to add a citation to his collection , we have recently change the text to make it more clear to the patrons that they can “click on the ‘Add to Reading List’ button to add a citation to their collection” -
Make zotero work with Primo
The old Primo UI worked very well with Zotero, but the new one doesn't. It would be very useful to have that functionality back.

Journals A-Z: Subject-indexing or discipline-indexing of titles
Librarians and faculty members alike would like the ability to search the Journals A-Z list by subject or discipline. This is available in SFX's A-Z/Journal Title Finder functionality, and would be highly useful in Primo as well. User Services and Teaching/IL Librarians would use it to create Subject Guides and other instructional materials, while Collections Librarians would use it to help in acquisitions decision-making. Faculty members would like to refer students to quick lists of discipline-specific resources, as well as use such lists for their own current awareness and professional development.

Better analytics for resource recommender to tell how many times recommendation is triggered and how often it is clicked
The resource recommender can be a very new tool to help improve the user experience of searchers.
However without proper analytics it is hard to tell if all the effort done to create them have had an impact.
Hence it would be helpful to have data like
Analytics that tell staff
a) How often a recommendation is triggered or most common recommendations shown
b) How often a recommendation is clicked41 votesAn indication for when resource recommender was triggered, is already available in Analytics since May 2020 Primo release.
Thank you.

Analytics - advanced search stastistics
Hi there,
According to SF case 422111 it's currently not possible to provide detailed statistics about advanced search field through OBI.
As for the facets, we would like to know the number of using field by field.
For example :
- We would like to know how many clicks were done on search field "Topic"
- We would like to know how many clicks were done on search field "Author"
- We would like to know in how many session the search field document type / books was used
- Which are the fields the most used in the advanced…81 votes -

Session Timeout Warning
It would be most helpful if a 'Session Timeout' warning could be displayed a certain amout of time before the session actually ends. Included in the warning could be the options to 'keep me logged in' or 'log out now'.
60 votesThe option to show a "Session timeout" message and to allow extending the session will be available in May 2023 release.
Best regards,
Yael.

Open Access Flag for Open Access Content
Open Access Content in Primo Central should be marked with an open access flag in the search or the facet section.
As a result it should be possible to search or filter on open access content regardless of the frontend (Primo or via API).94 votesWe are glad to share that this enhancement was delivered in Primo May 2018 release.
Primo now allows patrons to filter results using Open Access facet, In addition Open Access indication is displayed to flag open access articles.

Email results in new interface - records too long and not currently configurable
With the new UI, the emailing function appears to have been altered from a minimised style that we have in the classic primo to a very full view in the new one.
- in the Classic UI, indeed, the different formats have been used when user was sending results by email: (a) sending from Brief View or Full View creates a long version of formatted content (b) sending from eShelf creates a brief list of formatted content
However, in both cases, there is no configuration available as to define which fields should be part of the format, this is currently hardcoded…
51 votesThank you for this suggestion. The ability to customize the email is available now in Primo November release and planned for Primo VE in February 2020 release.
Please read more on the options to customize in “Improved Email Template for Send To Email Action”

Citation Trail on the Brief display in Primo New UI
Our users miss the Citation trail on the brief display in the New UI.
eg "when researching a new subject one strategy is to look for articles that have a number of citations. This helps to find those articles that are cited a lot and so are especially significant within a domain and also allows a way to quickly expand reading to cover other relevant articles. Having the citations appear on the results list therefore helps to identify such articles without having to click through each one in turn, making searches more efficient.

Add an option to "expand my results" from the "no records found" page
Currently the "no records found" page doesn't provide an option to "expand my results". Since the default behavior is to search without that option, a properly formed query for an existing item outside our collections yields the discouraging no results page. The message provides suggestions like "check your spelling." Please provide an option to try the search again with "expand my results". Ideally, Primo would know ahead of time if such an expansion would yield results and would only offer it if that was the case.

Delete and Monitor User-Submitted Tags in Primo
I would love our students and patrons to adopt the tag functionality in Primo. I like that adding a tag requires being logged-in, which reduces possibility of automated or commercial spam significantly. But there's still significant likelihood of users applying tags with humorous or malicious intent.
Two functions would greatly increase our likelihood of using this functionality rather than just hiding it via CSS:
1. Allow administrators to delete tags.
2. Allow administrators to review tags by searching and browsing in order of most recently applied first. Our implementation coordinator stated that this is currently unavailable for multitenant hosted Primo…

New Search link in new Primo UI should unlock & reset sticky facets
Can the new Primo UI be configured so all locked facets are unlocked and reset when the user clicks the “New Search”link on top of the new Primo UI toolbar?
Since the locked facets are programmed to remain active for the session, even after clicking “New Search”, the user may receive unanticipated results, and/or a result set of “No Records Found” if the sticky facets don’t apply to the new search.
For an example: A search on history narrowed to the subject of “History & Archaeology” with facets “Available in the Library” and NOT “Video” does a nice job of…
