  1. Display item policy in item record

    It would be useful if item policy could be configured as a field to display in either the brief or full item display. Currently, the loanable indicator is defined by the fulfillment terms of use, which is dependent on users signing in in order for Primo to calculate the loan policy specifically for that user.

    Having the option to display the item policy from Alma as a field in Primo would be beneficial as this does not change dependent on the user type or fulfillment rules. It would also provide more information to users irrespective of whether they are able…

  2. Display both link in record and links from link resolver in CDI

    When there are records in CDI that have link in record, but also would return links from the link resolver both types of links should be displayed to the end user.

    They have a tendency to break and if the link for some reason do not lead to the full text the end user does not get any other way to the full text (as they do with the multiple links fromt he link resolver).

    Thank you for this idea, For CDI records with more than one link option, users now can see the preferred linking option in the View It with an option to show more links. This is coming in Primo VE April release and Primo May 2022 release. 

  3. Add a true "exact" search to Advanced search type

    The available search types do not include a true "exact" search, where the results inlcude the query term(s) and only the query term(s). This type of search is very useful for one-word queries, especially when it is a common word. Using "begins with" in these situations can still result in dozens of results. We can construct a search, but it's not something the average user would know how to do, e.g.:

    Title begins with intervention
    NOT
    Title begins with intervention?

    This is a convoluted construction, and we'd prefer a true "is exactly" search type.

  4. Improve Primo RTA status for items that are in transit, on order, in processing, missing, etc.

    Right now if an item is not available, then the item says "Checked out..." even if the item isn't actually checked out. In Alma, the status is under "Process type" and we want this more detailed "Process type" to be displayed to our users instead of just "Checked out.." for everything that isn't available. This is really confusing if the item is missing or being processed by our technical staff. We need to be able to tell users more detail. We have had several users request our library order a book and then when the book is being processed it…

    Thank you for this idea. It is now available in Primo VE, Primo VE now allows you to display enhanced availability statuses in the brief display, specifically for records with the availability status Not Available. With this enhancement Primo VE takes advantage of the platform while calculating the real time availability of records, enriching it with more information from the items level.

  5. Journal coverage dates to show in the brief results page

    Would like the ability to configure Primo to display the coverage dates found in the Alma portfolio record to display in the Primo brief results.

    Currently, dates from the Alma bibliographic can display in the brief results but usually the publication date found in the bib differs than the coverage in the portfolio.
    Our patrons and staff would like to do a search for ejournals and see from the results what our coverage/holdings are without clicking into the full details.

    In Primo VE November 2021 and coming soon in February 2022 for Primo BO the Journal coverage will be added to the Availability line in the Brief results and Journal Search interface, allow users to easily understand the electronic coverage of the Journals managed in your Alma. More details can be found in Primo VE release notes.

  6. Include the item barcode as part of the data published from Alma to Primo in the AVA field to improve item search in Primo

    Request for Alma item barcode be included in the data that is published to Primo as part of the Alma publishing functionality to enable barcode searchability in the Primo keyword search. We have discovered that items migrated from our previous ILS do contain the item barcode(s) in the MARC 945 $$i and is written to the search:general field of the PNX. As such, those items are keyword searchable via their barcode in Primo. However, for items created in Alma, the item barcode is not written to the bib record and is therefore not searchable in Primo.   7. Add next and previous arrows to detail display

    Instead of forcing the user to close the detail display to then click on the details of another record, the idea would be to add next and previous arrows or buttons to the detail display to allow the user to see the next or previous records details.

  8. Export search results to Excel (or delimited file)

    When a user gets several hundred search results, they would like to be able to download a list of the entire search results. This is a feature that faculty routinely use. They may then have a faculty assistant check out some of the books.

    There is no way in Primo to capture an entire set of search results and do anything with it, such as export.

    The ability to export a set of search results was a feature in the Aleph OPAC. There is no feature parity in Primo. Users have already noted the lack of this feature.

  9. Add more options to configure facets by prefilter and resource type

    The configuration options for facets in Primo VE are currently very limited, and not at parity with Primo on Back Office. It is not currently possible in Primo VE for a single record to have multiple facets or prefilter resource type values, to better align with CDI in a blended search, it is not possible to configure the facet and prefilter resource type values separately and independently of the display resource type values, and these facets cannot be configured with sufficient granularity.     We would like our summary holdings to display one "click/screen" earlier than they do now.

    For example,

  11. Better display of subcategories in database-search in Primo

    In the Database search in Primo, to show subcategories you have to click the little arrow in front of the top category. This is not intuitive for end users, and this is actually the feedback that we get most often.

    It would be much better if clicking on a top category both did a search for records in this category and at the same time opened the subcategories.

    This would enable the user to see all the databases in one category, and at the same time display the possibillity to narrow down to a subcategory if necessary.

  12. Journals A-Z: Subject-indexing or discipline-indexing of titles

    Librarians and faculty members alike would like the ability to search the Journals A-Z list by subject or discipline. This is available in SFX's A-Z/Journal Title Finder functionality, and would be highly useful in Primo as well. User Services and Teaching/IL Librarians would use it to create Subject Guides and other instructional materials, while Collections Librarians would use it to help in acquisitions decision-making. Faculty members would like to refer students to quick lists of discipline-specific resources, as well as use such lists for their own current awareness and professional development.

  13. Ex Libris should allow customers to call or have an online chat with their support team

    We are disappointed with the technical support service provided by Ex Libris. We strongly believe that Ex Libris should provide customers with more effective, prompt and interactive service.

    There should be an option to call or chat online in real time with a support person who has a sound understanding of the product in question. This would be in line with all system vendors we have previously dealt with.

  14. Warn user to sign in when saving to favorites

    Primo (new UI) does not alert the user to sign in in order to save favorites. I suggest that when a user who has not logged in clicks the pushpin icon to save an item to Favorites, a modal appear to let them know they must sign in to save favorites, and give them an opportunity to do so.

  15. Customizable Collection Discovery according to PrimoVE views

    It'll be great if, according to the view, you can see specific collections displayed in the Collection Discovery.
    Currently, Collection Discovery is the same regardless of the view, which goes in detriment of the user experience.

  16. Number and sort the volumes in multi-volume works

    With the March 2021 release we got "Related Link for Series Added Fields 80X-83X", which is a big improvement.

    But in the list of volumes, the volumes are not sorted and they are missing their volume number.

  17. Separate the Audiovisual facet for Primo Central Index (PCI) into video and audio

    Users doing targeted searches incorporating facets to find specific types of resources on specific topics want to be able to do just that - target. Our users tell us that their searches are made more difficult by having to sift through a long list of irrelevant format results, including Video when they just want Audio, and Audio when they want only Video. This is even more frustrating for users when they can see by the display type that the list could so easily have been made shorter.

  18. Allow "best location" on brief results display to be configured by view

    A user viewing a view that is associated with a particular library or campus should be able to view availability of physical items at that library or campus libraries in the brief results layout. This idea is primarily for institutions with multiple libraries and, especially, multiple campuses. Campuses are associated with libraries, and typically a Primo view will be associated with a campus.

  19. Hide DUE TIME in Primo

    It should be possible to hide DUE TIME in Primo, both in My Library Card and the item list. Many libraries do not offer loans by the hour and opening hours in Alma are not the same as the opening hours of the physical library. Therefore displaying the due time in Primo is often just noise.

  20. Make it possible to add or exclude records from the OTB resource display types based on locally-defined conditions

    We would like to have more flexibility with Primo VE resource types and the related facet and prefilter values. There are situations in which we would like to be able to add records to an OTB resource display type that don't meet the OTB conditions.
