NDE UI - Improving UX locations section
The request buttons on item-level are not easily found by our users.
Please note, we have activated item-level requesting for all records, because it seems more logical and straightforward to have all the request buttons in one place. We do not believe returning to title-level requesting is the solution here, but enhancements in the locations section in the NDE UI could improve the experience. The various UX-issues of the locations-section are:
The 'arrow' button is not a clear button
Customers gave us feedback that they find it hard to see you can elapse or collapse cards. They blantly state that…

Thanks for this idea.
We’re happy to update that the enhancements introduced in the August 2026 release address the improvements you suggested for the locations section in the NDE.

Links in View It should be anchor links rather than buttons in NDE
In the legacy version of Primo VE, links to remote resources in View It are anchors, allowing the user to see the destination in the browser and to copy it using a right-click. This ends up being critical for troubleshooting. In NDE instead there are only buttons as resource links, so that we need to work much harder to get the URL (e.g. using the "Display CTO" method). Given that these page elements are actually navigational--they are links to remote resources--it would be far more appropriate for them to be rendered as regular anchors/links rather than buttons (regardless of styling).…

Improve Resource Recommender Description field behaviour in NDE
The Resource Recommender in Primo NDE has a 200 character limit (with spaces) for the Description field. When the Resource Recommender displays and has more than 200 characters, it cuts off with an ellipsis. However, the ellipsis cannot be clicked to expand the text, like in other areas of Primo. Instead, the only way to see the full text is to hover over and read the tooltip. In order to improve the experience for users we suggest these improvements to NDE's handling of the Resource Recommender:
-The ellipsis is clickable, and expands the text of the Description
-The white space…21 votesThis is supported now from May 2026 release.

Primo NDE UI: position of "Expand my results"
In Primo NDE UI the function "Expand my results" is located with “All filters”, which are closed by default.
Since "Expand my results" is not a filter but precisely an expansion, our patrons, who are not familiar with how CDI search operates, will never look it up among "All filters".
We would like this function to be moved elsewhere, maybe on top of the results list, after the quick filters.77 votesHi All,
The position of "Expand my results" toggle was changed in May 2026 release.

Primo NDE UX, main menu links labels
In Primo NDE UX, in the top bar, the main menu links labels display in just one line, therefore if one label is long the link takes more space.
However, the number of links to appear depends on how much space they take. The result is that with languages which use long words, such as Italian or German, less links appear than in Primo VE, where the labels could wrap in more than one line.
We would like the ability of breaking labels in more than one line to be reinstated.69 votesHi all,
This was handled as part of the UX improvements for the main menu links in August 2026 release.

Show/hide option for resource recommender in NDE
In NDE the user is able to close the resource recommendations section.
While this is helpful for users who want to get it out of the way, if they change their mind and want to see the recommendations for subsequent searches in the same session, there is no way to re-open it.
They have to wait for a new session, or start in a new browser. Even signing out and back in again does not re-enable the recommendations.
This suggestion is that instead of X for close - there should be hide/show function.
We rely on the resource recommender for…

Primo NDE - Allow All Filters to be open by default
In Primo VE the All Filters on the left side of the search screen is open by default. In NDE it is closed by default. We would like the ability to choose that the default be set to open so students will see the options rather than them having to know that they need to click "All Filters" button.

Saved search alerts - avoid spamming
Currently a user can enter any email address for alerts to be sent to. To avoid misuse, institutions should be able to configure so that a user can only choose an email address that is in their user account contact details already.
Also, if the institution does not use such a configuration, and the user inserts an email address that is NOT in their user account, then there should be an email verification process. Alerts will not be sent until the recipient clicks a message to verify they have control of that email address and willing to receive them. Assumes…

Move "change language" outside menu and leave it in English + icon
Readers who do not read the current language of the Primo interface, especially when it is in non-Roman characters, cannot find where to change language. We need the "change language" out of the menu, directly in the main screen, and permanently in English whatever the current language is. An icon [globe/flag] might also help.

Enhance "Quick Access" Section in Primo VE to Display All Files Linked to a Representation
Currently, in Primo VE, the "Quick Access" section within the detailed results page of digital titles displays only the first file linked to a representation. Users are required to open a full-screen viewer, where they can navigate through the additional files using a file navigation pane on the left. While there are arrows in the "Quick Access" section which allow users to navigate between files, this functionality is not always intuitive, and it is not immediately apparent that additional files exist beyond the first one.
To improve user experience and accessibility, I propose an enhancement to the "Quick Access" section…50 votes -
New Book List in Primo VE
I would love to have in-built Primo VE functionality to showcase the new book list in Primo VE, like Trinity College (https://ctw-tc.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01CTW_TC:CTWTC&lang=en) did using this alternatively, but not everyone is that techy, so please consider adding this in upcoming releases.

Automate SSL/TLS certificate management
For hosted Primo sites that have custom domain names, the current process for deploying SSL certificates involves time-consuming manual steps and hand-offs, many of which must be repeated each time a certificate is renewed. [1]
Several institutions will soon require SSL certificates to be renewed every 90 days, at which point the current manual process will become utterly unmanageable for both Ex Libris and its customers. [2]
I propose that Ex Libris adopt an ACME-like service (such as Let's Encrypt) to fully automate SSL certificate management. The customer's responsibility would be to set up a DNS record (as they do…

We are now utilizing the Automated Certificate Management Environment (ACME) protocol to manage custom domain certificates.

Option to highlight active tabs in Primo top pane
We would like the option to highlight active tabs in the Primo top pane. At present, it is not clear which tab is in use. Highlighting of active tabs supports navigation and improves user experience, but there is currently no easy way to implement this. Including an option to do so, for example via CSS, would be helpful.

Add ability to configure the display at the item level and the location level in the GetIt section
In Primo VE, the display of the GetIt section works currently as following:
If there are only items in one location, the first display after opening the full view is at the item level (example: https://eth.swisscovery.slsp.ch/permalink/41SLSP_ETH/lshl64/alma99118073204005503).
If there are items in more than one location, the first display is at the location level (example: https://eth.swisscovery.slsp.ch/permalink/41SLSP_ETH/lshl64/alma990104195490205503).
Because our libraries are part of a huge consortium, our users always have to check first in which library an item is available before checking the item information. Furthermore, we believe that the user experience would be better, if the GetIt section looked…9 votesHi,

Allow HTML coding for all labels
Hi
Please allow HTML coding for all labels.
Including URLs via a href when the label isn't used as a link already. This is working for a few labels, but far from all.

Make it easier to re-order Primo display details in Full Record Services
When configuring the order of "details" fields in Configuration -> Discovery -> Configure Views: [View Profile] -> Full Record Services: Details, Alma users are only able to re-order fields by moving them up or down one table entry at a time. Anytime you add a new field, it's added to the end of the list by default. In our case, we have almost 50 different display fields, and if we want that new field to appear near the top of the list, we have to scroll down and click the Up arrow for that field 50 times to bring it…

Collection Discovery: allow searching subcollections' contents at the collection level
Currently, when a user searches in a collection, Primo only returns objects that are directly located under this collection, ignoring any contents located in subcollections. This means that the user needs to open each subcollection and do the search again to discover all objects included in the collection. This is cumbersome and counter-intuitive. We would like that the search results also include objects and subcollections located at lower levels in the hierarchy.

"Give Us Feedback" tool / "Report a problem": separate e-mail addresses
We have been waiting for this enhancement for a long time:
Give Us Feedback Tool (NERS "Report a problem for records in Primo") / Primo May 2022 release:
https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/Primo/2022/001Primo_2022_Release_NotesSince full-text links in Primo are displayed in different places and come from different sources (Alma "View it" section, CDI - "Link in record", Primo Link section), the "Report a Broken Link" option is of course difficult to implement. The "Report a Broken Link" feature as it was available in SFX (an option directly at each full-text link) would of course be more intuitive for the users, but unfortunately it is…

Remove field 655 from the subject facet
In Primo VE the 655 are shown in the Subject facet. As the 655 relate to form and not to content, they should not be shown as subjects. Furthermore, the 655 are correctly shown in the “Genre” facet.
The 655 should be excluded from the Topic facet in the Facets Section Mapping:
