  1. Allow Users to Add Custom Export Options to Primo VE Interface

Currently, it's not possible to add your own custom export options to the Primo VE interface (i.e, export options being email, printing, permalinks, etc.).

Ideally, users could add their own icons and export options directly to the table in Alma so that they easily surface via the Primo interface without having to be adept in coding to make this change happen.

For example, we would like to add an "accessibility" icon to the is list so that users could click it if they needed an item in a more accessible format. The icon would simply point to a form on…

  2. Allow customisation of search profile for collections

When using collections the search scope cannot be changed or customised, for our Primo the search scope name is "MyInstitution".

This doesn't make it clear that the contents may be Alma Digital content only.

We were told via case 06725207 that in order for the collections lobby to display content we must use this search profile which at the time didn't include Alma Digital, we've changed the profile to now only be Alma Digital after testing with all content, lobby is now displaying content.

We'd like the ability to have a more appropriate code for the search profile that more…

  3. Improve Related Titles hypertext linking and advanced search

As a user, I want advanced searches that are generated by clicking a related title hyperlink to use existing metadata as search parameters in order to accurately narrow the results to relevant records.

As currently implemented, the hyperlinks for related titles either takes the user to a locally held version of the record or generates an advanced search based on the title alone.

When a user clicks a link for a related title named "Berg, Jeremy M. (Jeremy Mark), 1958- Biochemistry. 5th ed. New York : W.H. Freeman, ©2002" they are taken to an Advanced Search for Biochemistry.

    This search…

  4. Quotation marks: align the behavior of Alma and CDI records

When using quotation marks in a search, Alma and CDI records behave differently:

    CDI records:
« » → not considered for the search
„ “ → considered for the search only for some languages
“ ” → considered for the search only for some languages
    " " → considered for the search

    For local records:
« » → not considered for the search
„ “ → not considered for the search
“ ” → not considered for the search
    " " → considered for the search

With this idea exchange we propose to align the behavior of Alma and CDI…

  5. Make collection and subcollection names discoverable in the Collections lobby.

Make collection and subcollection names discoverable in the Collections lobby. Currently, collection names and subcollection names are discoverable in Primo VE, but not discoverable in the Collections lobby.

    Example:

We have a collection called: "Daher Folk Tales". It is discoverable in Primo VE:

    https://librarysearch.centennialcollege.ca/discovery/search?query=any,contains,daher%20folk%20tales&tab=Everything&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&vid=01OCLS_CENTENN:CENTENN&lang=en&offset=0

but not in the Collections lobby:

    https://librarysearch.centennialcollege.ca/discovery/collectionDiscovery?vid=01OCLS_CENTENN:CENTENN&query=any,contains,daher%20folk%20tales

We would like all collections and subcollections to be discoverable by name in the Collections lobby, because we will soon have a long list of collections on the lobby page, and many, many levels of subcollections. This enchancement would nake it easier for users to find the right subcollection,…

  6. Flexible Permanent URL for Retrieving New Books in Primo

I'm interested in having a permanent URL that retrieves new books added to the library in the last two months through Primo. I would appreciate it if you could create a way to build a URL that allows to retrieve new books added to the library with a flexible date range (such as last 2 months, last 5 months, etc.). Thank you

  8. Change behaviour of collection discovery for frbrized titles

At the moment collection discovery in Primo VE shows for frbrized titles only one entry, even if there are two entries added two the collection (print and electronic version e.g.). If the user clicks on the entry, he gets a record and not a list of versions as he does when clicking on an entry in the brief results list. This is confusing, because the user might think, the one record he found (print or electronic) is the only one available. The user is likely to overlook the rather small versions line.

    I see to possible solutions:

    1. (preferred) If two…

  9. Allow creating "NonFullText" electronic collections (as the "getCitedJournal" in SFX).

We would like Primo VE to allow creating "NonFullText" electronic collections, following the SFX model where the "getCitedJournal" service type exists.

This would allow managing lists of notes and/or service access urls, complementary to the other FullText collections.

Currently it is not possible to do these loads without confusing users in the results view, since when treating it as full text objects it shows them as "Available online".

This option would be complementary and more flexible than the "General electronic services", which are very limited since it does not allow adding particular notes and the URL must be homogeneous.

    See…

  10. Make is possible to display Available From Date and Available To Date to users in Primo

The "Control the Availability of Portfolios Automatically at a Pre-defined Date" feature, introduced in the February 2023 release (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Release_Notes/2023/Alma_2023_Release_Notes?mon=202302BASE), allows libraries to enter an Available From Date and Available To Date in portfolios, and the portfolio will be automatically deactivated after the Available To Date. This feature is designed to be useful in cases where libraries lease a piece of content (typically, a streaming film) for a limited period of time.

In this Idea, we suggest that we should be able to display the Available From Date and Available To Date to end users in Primo. This is…

  11. Allow Database Facet/Filter/Limiter in Primo VE

We would like the ability to filter results by database in Primo VE. For example, if someone searches "biology", but has been instructed to only use articles from our Academic Search Premier database, there would be a way to limit to both articles and the Academic Search Premier database.

  12. Primo VE webhook search blending

In terms of usability, it would be good if Primo VE webhook search results could be blended to the combined search results (local resources and articles). Blended results feature should be able to select on a search-by-search basis e.g. if you apply search for AI-based article search portals or whether to apply search for printed resources from the repository libraries.

  13. Ability to set default purchase request library for all users with Purchase Request Form

We would like the option to set a default purchase request library that is selected/displayed automatically in the purchase request form in Primo VE, regardless of whether the patron submitting the form has a purchase request library selected in their Alma record. This would allow the purchase request form to come to us in Alma with the correct Owning Library filled in automatically (as we only purchase via one of our libraries).

  14. My Library Card: Option to hide Personal Details

It should be possible to hide Personal Details section under My Account in Primo VE.

We are able to disable the labels in the following, but seems no option to hide the Personal Details section. Even if we disabled the labels for this tab, it is not completely disable from appearing or being clickable.

    1. Configuration > Discovery > Display Configuration > Labels > All code Tables > Library card Labels
    2. Configuration > Discovery > Library Card Configuration > Personal Details Configuration

Also, Primo Technical Support Analysts already confirmed the personal details section cannot be hidden using CSS. So we post…

  15. Allow Bibtex information to be copied and pasted rather than only downloaded

Currently, Primo requires that users download Bibtex and other citation data to their computers, and then upload or copy it from a document. This takes up valuable memory. Google Scholar has a feature that allows you to copy and paste the Bibtex citation directly from the browser rather than needing to download it, saving space and the hassle of saving and uploading a list of resources to their computers. Could a similar functionality be created for Primo VE where Bibtex information can be copied and pasted rather than just downloaded?

  16. Give more weight to PMID in one-word PMID searches [Primo VE]

In Primo VE, if a user wants to search for an article with a one-word PMID search (such as 22878467), the search will also match to articles in a journal with the ISSN 2287-8467, due to ISSN fuzzy matching. The issue arises in the brief result listing: currently the ISSN is given more weight than the PMID, pushing the relevant result to the very end of the list.

In the above mentioned case, the user gets 18 results in total where the 18th is the one the user is interested in. Everything before it are articles from the journal with…

  17. Primo VE: Allow users to select false options when requesting items to another campus

Due to the set up of rules within our system, students are able to request books to any campus they want to except their home campus (as it is available to pick up).
When they don't see their campus as an option, they will send the book to another campus, see that it has arrived, and then turn up at the wring site expecting the item.

We're proposing a setting in which the student would be able to select their own campus, but then receive an error message when they try to process it explaining why they can't and what…

  18. Display snippets in brief results for physical records when search terms appear in formatted content (5xx) fields

It would be helpful for Primo VE to display highlighted snippets in brief results for physical records (like the full-text snippets for CDI records) when a user's search terms match on text that is in a formatted contents field.

For example, if a patron currently searches for the title of a volume within a multi-volume set (and the search terms used for that volume title do not match on any other fields present in brief results), the record for that multi-volume set will appear in the search results, but with no obvious indication as to why (although the matching search…

  19. Additional Function:Excludes unnecessary resource types in Specialized Search Scopes for CDI

    ■Idea
When configuring "Specialized Search Scopes for CDI" https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/Primo_VE_(English)/040Search_Configurations/010Configuring_Search_Profiles_for_Primo_VE
in Primo VE, currently only 5 CDI resource types can be selected, so we want to change the system that unnecessary resource types can be excluded.

    ■Context
Regarding "Exclude eBooks from CDI Results - Phase 2 (NERS #6702)", In Phase 1, all books were excluded from search, but after Phase 2, some books remain in the search results.

To exclude books for this reasons,we would like to set the "Specialized Search Scopes for CDI" with limited number of CDI resource types.
But the maximum number of resource types that can be…
