  1. Suggestion for Increase of Shared Dimensions Between Subject Areas in Analytics

    We have donors who require reports on how we are spending their endowment funding. These reports include Fund Transaction data, Bibliographic Details, and Holding Details. The idea is that the donor should be able to locate any item within our library that we have purchased on their funds. Unfortunately, Holding Details lies within the Physical Items subject area, and currently is not a shared dimension in the Funds Expenditure subject area. Holding Details (such as in the case of Call Numbers) are closely linked in usefulness with Bibliographic Details.

    My suggestion, therefore, is that ExLibris please add Holdings Details as…

    The suggestion here is to add information from the physical items to the funds expenditures subject area. It was opened three years ago. Three years (perhaps after this was opened – Ideas Exchange states “three years ago” but not an exact date) ago we added the fund information to the physical items subject area. This should satisfy the need of creating a report with data from both areas.   2. Add column to Patron service on the Loan-tab which shows that the item has been requested by another user

    Our fulfillment department often gets phone calls of patrons who do not understand why their loan can not be renewed. Now we have to click the View queue in Actions to check this, but it would be much more convenient to see in a blink of an eye that there are requests immediately on the loan tab.

  3. Linked Account Shared Fields (expand with additional identifiers)

    Dear,

    we would like to be able to copy over the additional id's when 'find a user in another institution'! Could this field be added to the Linked Account Shared Fields mapping table?

    Setting up 'Cross Consortia Identifiers' in the NZ enables selecting which IDs will be shared across the network. The IDs must be unique across all teh network !

  4. Interested Users with API

    When ordering with YBP using the API, it would improve workflow to add a hold for a patron into the Interested Users tab. Right now we add hold information into the Library Note field that goes to the Notes tab in Alma. We have to take an extra step to check for a possible hold with each title and add it to the Interested Users tab manually. It would be much better if the API would do it for us either by creating a new field to enter the information in GOBI or take it from the Library Notes field…

  5. Automatic generation of call numbers

    The call numbers play an important role as source of information for staff and users and in the workflows, that is why we also strongly miss the automatic generation of call numbers (in Aleph the Z311 table "to register the last sequence number assigned for a sublibrary + prefix, so that the next highest number can automatically be assigned when an item record is created"). When we have to do it manually it deeply lowers the efficiency of the workflows and is open for human mistakes that cause further problems.

  6. Pop up note for item with a status

    I would like to see a pop up note when an item is in Missing status. We add additional notes in Statistical fields to track missing items. It would be good to be able to clear those at the point of scan in instead of having to investigate. In fulfillment you don't know if you scanned in a "missing" item.

    Dear Alma users,
    Currently when an item that has a process type “missing” is scanned in, Alma prompts a pop-up message stating that “Item’s missing status was removed, barcode xxxxxxxxxx” (see attachment for example).

    I believe this answers the need you raised: “In fulfillment you don’t know if you scanned in a “missing” item.”

    If for some reason you do not see this message when scanning an item that has a process type “missing”, please submit a Salesforce case.

  7. Default pickup location in direct requesting

    In Direct Requesting, have the default pickup location be the PATRON'S home library OR have the default be BLANK. Right now, the default is the ITEM'S location. If the default is accepted, the patron may have to travel some distance to pick up the item.

    “A new customer parameter, ful_network_default_pickup_inst, controls the initial value of the pickup institution field in a fulfillment network request form.

    *If the parameter’s value is set to blank, the initial value of the pickup institution is blank.

    *If the parameter’s value is set to patron, the initial value is set to the patron’s institution, meaning that linked account users will show the patron’s source institution.

    *If the parameter’s value is set to local, the initial value is set to the local institution, as it has been in the past. This is the default."

  8. automatically remove lost item fees at discharge

    When a lost item is returned and discharged, by definition it no longer requires replacement, so all replacement costs (except overdue fine) should be automatically deleted from the patron's record. It looks like we have to do that manually now, which is unnecessary and time-consuming.

  9. Improve the Record Quality & Coverage for eResources in the Community Zone

    Could you please source full level records for eResources in the Community Zone.
    The ability to link to records in the CZ is a great feature but if the records are poor or non-existent then this renders eBooks undiscoverable in Primo and will certainly render FRBRization impossible.

    I would love to see the API suit expanded to allow retrieval of bibliographic MARCXML and JSON based on other standard identifiers, such as ISBN/ISSN or OCLC number.

  11. Remove the adding files process from Ship Item Digitally action for digital titles

    New Ship Item digitally action is great, but adding file process seems to be redundant when the requested title is already a digital title so it has at least one digital representation and its files. It would be much better if the user can select the representation and the files to send when the request is for a digital title, and the receiving partner gets an email containing the files or the links for downloading them.

    Hi,

    is also possible to to ship digital resources that are managed in Alma, regardless of whether the digital content is stored remotely (using a Remote Representation) or locally on Alma.

    On the Manage Resource Fulfillment Options page (Digital Services section), the following actions are available if there are Alma managed digital resources for the requested title:

    • View – View the digital representation. If the representation is a Remote Representation, you can also use a Ship action to ship the digital content.
    • View Files (if the representation is not a remote representation) – Choose one or more files to ship, if they are stored locally on Alma.
    • Deliver – View the files.
  12. Create combined IZ and NZ file for Google Scholar

    We would like to be able to publish our IZ electronic portfolios and NZ electronic portfolios available for us in one file to Google Scholar. Google Scholar publishing is very problematic for consortia with electronic inventory set up at both the IZ and NZ level. Right now, even though most of our electronic holdings info is set up in the NZ, only our IZ holdings file gets published to GS. In Salesforce, we've been told that (unlike in the SFX days) there is no way to combine the two files for all e-resources available at an institution. As a result,…

  13. Add PO Line Status to Analytics

    Currently you can search for PO Line Status within Alma, but cannot use this field within Analytics.

    Adding this field to Analytics would allow reporting on statuses like In Review and Pending Approval. This would improve staff workflows, so that they don't have to manually check these statuses daily.

    Allow multiple collections when adding a digital representation

    By now, when you add a digital representation, you can only choose and add one collection in the process (radio buttons instead of check boxes). If you want to have the digital representations attributed to different collections you need to add the representation afterwards by choosing Manage > Collections > Add Title. It would be very time saving if you could attribute multiple collections to a digital representation in the process of adding a digital representation.

  15. API query to retrieve only those user accounts where active fines/fees exist

    We want to export user fine/fee data to our SIS (PeopleSoft) while retaining the ability to manage patron fine/fees in Alma. The Alma bursar export does not meet our needs because it closes out the fine/fees in Alma. The user API only allows for checking accounts individually to determine whether a fine/fee exists. The 'users' query does not provide a filter for whether a fine/fee is on the retrieved user's account.

    The Export User Blocks action in the Users Integration Profile ? This action is used to export users that should be blocked due to unpaid fines. It can be used to routinely export a list of users that owe more than a given amount.

  16. Booking requests such as a Study room request should be canceled automatically after more than booking release time if it is not loaned

    Is indicated that if the booking release time passes and the requesting patron does not loan the resource, the booking request is still in effect but the resource can be loaned to another patron.
    It would be very useful if the booking request, for example study room request, were canceled automatically after more than booking release time if it is not loaned. So we should not be pending to cancel them manually if it is not occupied.

    The Handle Expired Booking Requests scheduled job considers all expired booking requests that are not in Failed, Rejected, or Completed statuses and cancels each request that meets the criteria. The job also anonymizes the request according to the institution’s request anonymization configuration.

  17. Option to update E-book Type

    We discovered recently that if the e-book material type is not added before the order is sent, it's automatically assigned to type - Portfolio. We want this to be Books. As there are now two e-material types because of this automation (Books and Portfolio),, it makes reporting difficult. Would it be possible to change the electronic material type at any time?

  18. Add grand total to 'before values' in Analytics

    When creating large data sets, it'd be useful to be able to right click at the top of a column, 'Show Row level Grand Total', and choose something to show at the TOP of a column, instead of having to choose 'After values'. This might help avoid having to use prompts or exporting just to count things.

  19. Renew resource sharing loans

    Currently it seems that only requests with a Received status show the 'request renew' option. This should be extended to requests that have the status 'loaned to patron' as these are more likely to need renewing.
