  1. Allow multiple collections when adding a digital representation

Allow multiple collections when adding a digital representation

By now, when you add a digital representation, you can only choose and add one collection in the process (radio buttons instead of check boxes). If you want to have the digital representations attributed to different collections you need to add the representation afterwards by choosing Manage > Collections > Add Title. It would be very time saving if you could attribute multiple collections to a digital representation in the process of adding a digital representation.

  2. API support for monitoring Alma publishing and Primo updating data flow

Currently, the monitoring of Alma-side import and publishing jobs, and Primo-side pipes and indexing processes must be performed manually. Job status information should be accessible via API, so institutions could make this manual monitoring work much more automated.

  3. Link to view record in Primo from Alma

When viewing a bibliographic record in Alma, we would like a link to appear that opens a new browser tab/window showing the record in Primo. For example, the MMSID could be hyperlinked, which would then perform a search for the record in Primo. This would enable quick identification of publishing problems between Alma and Primo as well as testing record display in Primo.

  4. Add a column on the User Details display under the User Roles section that contains the Expiry Date for each role

An additional column that includes the Expiry Date for the listed role would be useful when working with groups that expire at various times as happens with emeriti at universities. I am sure that public libraries would also find this useful as their patrons expire at many different times so they would be looking at the expiration data for roles for users much more often.
The addition of a column that shows the Expiry Date for a role would make finding the expiration date take one fewer click.

This enhancement would also make monitoring of temporary roles that are given…

  5. Interested Users with API

When ordering with YBP using the API, it would improve workflow to add a hold for a patron into the Interested Users tab. Right now we add hold information into the Library Note field that goes to the Notes tab in Alma. We have to take an extra step to check for a possible hold with each title and add it to the Interested Users tab manually. It would be much better if the API would do it for us either by creating a new field to enter the information in GOBI or take it from the Library Notes field…

  7. Add item copy number to physical item details area of analytics

The item copy number doesn't seem to be exported anywhere in Alma analytics, and would be useful for shelf reading reports or stock checking/inventory control where you may not necessarily be able to scan a barcode in .
The suggestion would be to include it under Physical Items\Physical Item Details\Copy Number.

Note: this is different from the holdings copy ID which seems to be sourced from the holdings 852 tag.

The field “item copy ID” in the “Physical items” subject area “physical item details” folder comes from the item record and not from the holdings record. It is visible in the physical item editor in the “general” tab and is called “Copy ID”.

  8. Ability to delete a CZ linked portfolio from Repository Search>Portfolio list

It would save a lot of time and clicks if it was possible to delete a CZ-linked portfolio from within the repository search, rather than having to identify the portfolio, open it, click on the collection name, then click on 'Additional information', Service, Portfolio list, search for the portfolio again and then click on the delete option from here. We would rather use this for ebooks than simply 'deactivate' as inactive portfolios are still retrieved in a repository search, which causes confusion about what we exactly have access to.

    The functionality is already supported.
It is possible to delete a CZ linked portfolio from the Electronic Portfolio search results.
We will update the documentation to reflect the above.

  9. ability to track perpetual access to eJournals when you cancel them.

submitted case #00086211 to create a new field in the Electronic Portfolio and Electronic Collection records for 'Perpetual Access Coverage Dates', and for this field to be retrievable in Alma Analytics.

We use separate spreadsheets to track these cancelled titles. In Alma, we would update coverage end date, POL if applicable (for individually subscribed titles in our case), and also a public note indicating the discontinuation. Patrons contacted us and asked why they couldn’t access a title any more, so we figured a public note would be more helpful to patrons in this case. But the public note fields is…

  10. Patron Self Registration

Make Patron Self Registration possible via Primo. This feature would need to be configurable by libraries and able to be turned off altogether by the library. Configuration options could include: what data elements are required, whether new accounts need to be reviewed before they are active.

  11. Add PID for physical Items to Analytics

Currently when a physical item is published to Primo it receives a unique PID that is not currently visible within Analytics. I believe the PID that is used for physical is identical to the PID for electronic inventory that is accessible in Analytics?

    Thanks,
    Dean

  12. Receiving items without creating a barcode. Needed for looseleafs and pocket parts.

Law libraries have items, such as looseleafs, that require us to check-in an item but do not require a barcode because it is integrated into an item.
By creating the barcode it gives us inaccurate inventory information when running reports. And not receiving the item does not give us an opportunity to track purchases.

  14. Job to scan in items

Our spine labeling workflow is quite bottlenecked because we have to scan each item 3 times: once to print the label, once to scan out of Tech Services, and once into scan into place. If there were a job to scan in items, we could at least reduce the 3 scans to 2 by scanning into an .xls and then running two scan in jobs on the same file.

The “Scan-in operation on item” API may be useful for this. You can use this API to scan in a bulk of items. The API is documented in the Developers Network.

A script for performing bulk scan-in of items is also described in the Developers Network.

  15. Display Logic by Location

At this time you can only hide Resource Sharing Requests by Availability, Ownership, or User Groups with Display Logic. But there are times when we need to hide the Resource Sharing Requests for a location when the item is still Available.

    Hi,

There are two options you may consider.

    1. The display logic rules hide resource sharing requests when there are available copies. However, if the location of the available items has a ‘unavailable’ type then Alma will consider the items unavailable for this rule, even though they are on shelf.

The location ‘type’ is an attribute of the physical location.

    2. As mentioned in my comment, you can define general electronic requests that can help hide the resource sharing link depending on item locations. For example, assume you have a ‘Laptops’ location, and you do not want a resource sharing link to show up when searching items of this location. You can:

    1. Define a dummy General Electronic Service that will show when the location is ‘laptops’.
    2. Define a Display Logic Rule that hides the resource sharing link when the above mentioned service exists (i.e. when the location is…

  16. More Options for Fulfillment Notice Scheduling (SMS)

Job schedules for fulfillment notifications are limited to terrible times for receiving text messages. SMS notifications run on the same job as the email letter notifications. For example, the "Send Courtesy Notices and Handle Loan Renewal" job has scheduling options of Not Scheduled, Everyday at 20:00, and Everyday at 24:00. The "Send Overdue Notices" job has scheduling options of Not Scheduled, Everyday at 03:00, Everyday at 05:00, or Everyday at 23:00.

Needless to say, these are not ideal time for our users to be receiving text messages on their phones. We would like to see more scheduling options during regular…

  17. Allow items to be placed on Course Reserve using their barcode

We need the ability to add items to a course reserve reading list by barcode. While ISBN works for books, any audio or video items do not have ISBNs so we need another mechanism to add specific items. And it is critical to get the exact version of an opera or symphony. It's also silly that we cannot use barcode when our legacy systems did, often as the only item identifier. As a result, we don't have any way to easily port information from one system to another.

  18. Automatic generation of call numbers

The call numbers play an important role as source of information for staff and users and in the workflows, that is why we also strongly miss the automatic generation of call numbers (in Aleph the Z311 table "to register the last sequence number assigned for a sublibrary + prefix, so that the next highest number can automatically be assigned when an item record is created"). When we have to do it manually it deeply lowers the efficiency of the workflows and is open for human mistakes that cause further problems.

  19. Allow configuration of which columns are in the the Print Slip Report

For institutions that handle a large number of Patron Physical Item, and other request types dealing with their physical inventory, the Print Slip Report available under Fulfilment>Resource Requests> Pick from Shelf is a crucial workflow tool.

However the report output is inflexible, including columns which are irrelevant to many customers and which require hiding/deletion in Excel formats before being printed for onward process by library staff.

It would be a huge improvement to be able to configure the columns that go into this report to ensure that only the key ones are downloaded for each circulation desk's pick from shelf…

  20. Truncate titles, etc. when searching

Truncated searching would save a lot of keystokes. It would also save a lot of typing when you misspelled something and then have to retype the entire title again. Typing in the exact title when it may be very long or a little bit different from what you remember takes a lot of time. Allowing for a wildcard would allow better searching for plurals, different endings, etc.
